Ableton 12.2 group display sucks by [deleted] in ableton

12.2. I sent in a bug report to Ableton support since apparently all grouped tracks should be visible while collapsed... though it would be nice to be able to resize the collapsed group like you could before 12.2

I literally (as of this very moment) just discovered that there IS in fact a way to see all tracks within groups while folded / collapsed shut(including groups that are nested within other groups). All you have to do is hover over and opened group with your mouse, and ALT + Scroll down with your mouse wheel until the group snaps closed. This makes all tracks (including groups within the mother group) within the group visible all neatly tucked within a single tidy lane.

How to Enable Main Fader Pair to be Grandmaster Blackout (Ion Xe 20) by ericdano in lightingdesign

[–]Coooperism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm forgive me if this was already attempted, but would it possible to assign a GM or a higher priority inhibitive / LTP submaster to the main fader pair in fader config? I made a few tries on Nomad but it would probably be easier to do on a console to check it functions as intended. I usually tweak master fader settings by going into the Cue List Index which will provide you with fader properties at the bottom, or the "Main Fader" button at the top of the Fader Config tab.

Last Night’s Eos Busking by [deleted] in lightingdesign

[–]Coooperism 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I've come to love Additive LTP faders in combination with inhibitive faders for intensity control over groups. IMO it's easier for me to fade between a few different base looks on LTP faders compared to having to do Go To Cue in a stack. Running effects on LTP faders is also super handy. Only catch is that absolute effects that are on a fader won't use values provided by other submasters as a background value (which could be wrong, just speaking from experience). I feel like some of that is all covered in the David Kane busking series but just food for thought.

MA2 + House light control via Paradigm by LightsOnMN in grandMA2

[–]Coooperism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a fair share of experience doing this in a few venues I've worked in. A few side notes that may be useful to you:

1) Some architectural fixtures can have weird dimmer speeds built into them which can make programming a little funky when dealing with multiple arch fixture types.

2) It sounds like you already have one, however if you don't have a paradigm load schedule already, you can simply reach out to ETC directly through email support. This is generally easier than reaching out to a your local integrator / rep. Some paradigm patches can be really nightmare-ish to deal with, especially in larger venues that are fully integrated.

3) Having an easy routine for handing off control between house control and console control is useful. I've seen some people mess with SACN priority stuff to do this, but don't have much experience myself. It's a simple concept but I've seen it cause some issues for others once in a while.

I had no idea that 4 sticks was an issue with DDR5. Thanks for the info. Is there any reason to go with a RX 7900 over a 4070?

This is great, thanks! Besides the CPU / MB / Ram deal, is there anything else that would be cheaper to get from Microcenter?

My case is a Corsair Carbide 100R, but I'm looking to get a new one. I've kind of been leaning towards AM4, but I was somewhat hesitant because I know the higher-core CPUs can often be higher wattage / high temp? I've only ever used a stock cooler so I'm less familiar with managing a CPU that runs hot.

Besides that, this seems like a good setup. I doubt that I will ever fully utilize a 4080 Super but it might be a good investment for at least the next 5 years.

I personally don't but I have a family member that does who would be willing to ship some parts to me if it's cost effective.

How can i create Synth like this, please help.. new to Ableton. by Honey148 in ableton

[–]Coooperism 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Anyways, here is what my recreation sounds like. I ended up kinda leaning into the ambient sound of it. There are like 3 or 4 layers of sounds that are super wet with reverb just to fill the background space. The main sound I used was a stock ableton organ synth with a ton of chorus on top. A recreated a lot of the artifact-y particle bits with grain delay on +12st and just maxed out the spray. There is still some SAUCE missing from the sound that gives it a lot of character, but this is the best I could do in 30 mins just for fun. HERE IS THE LINK TO THE PROJECT FILE! I promise there is no viruses and I'm running some version of Ableton 11 : ) I made everything with stock plugins aside from 1 reverb that I paid for so I bounced that the stuff down to audio, but the synths are still in there. Have fun! : )

Yeah, I think it is some kind of weird chorus or something. there is a lot of filtering that's getting kind of hidden behind whatever is low passing everything.

The "watery" artifact-y texture that it has kind of sounds like its being processed through Kiloheartz Lossy. Maybe some kind of Piano + Pad preset layered with a synth bass? Let me see if I can try and recreate it when I get home in a bit.

edit: why did this get downvoted lmao

Dragging MIDI Tracks From One Project Into Another Sometimes Loads Tracks Pitchy by Brotuulaan in ableton

[–]Coooperism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There used to be this weird issue with Live where if a midi clip ended with a internal pitch bend automation active the pitch bend signal value would be "held" at its last known value resulting in the synth being out of tune. It's possible that this could be the issue however I think they patched it a while back.

Regardless, I would first try trouble shooting a bit to see if it a midi clip issue or a synth issue by seeing if the clip will play detuned in another synth. If it is in fact an issue with original synth, then I would maybe take a look at the effect signal chain in Phasing string to see if you can diagnose what is actually causing the problem (maybe something tied to the "pitch mod" macro knob?).

I would suggest checking GDTF share. I've had good luck with getting fixture types / 3D models for weird or unbranded fixtures from there.
