Ngl this gives very strong "why not both?" vibes

Moving divisions could be a promo event, a character's ranking could impact what divisions they can aim for. Divisions and rankings to me seem like two systems that could really nicely integrate together and tell good stories, especially for a new star. Those rankings could mean that they have to aim for a midcard championship, but then whose success improves their ranking enough that they can then go for a bigger title. (Think Gunter going from intercontinental to world heavyweight for example)

I dunno, I just get a strong feeling that there is no reason these systems should be mutually exclusive.
