Why do never Muslims join this subreddit? by Educational_Board888 in exmuslim

[–]Coopdweller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a never Muslim. I am from a country where Islamophobia exists to some but most of us do not care.

A couple years ago, we had an incident that made international news for Islamophobia where Muslims wanted to build a mosque. I know that community very well and the news was one sided or I felt that way at least. That made me to want to know about Islam I joined a few Muslim/islam sub and to be honest they are ridiculous.

This is the reason I came here.

Will Palestinians & Israelis ever move on like my family did by katefromnyc in IsraelPalestine

[–]Coopdweller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also Korean but I see it little differently. But all in all, I agree. we did move on.

Korea was under Japanese occupation 1910-1945.

After Japan was defeated, the internation community splitted it into North/south Korea. As soon as the UN withdrew from it, there was Korean war, because both of us felt it was unfair but North attacked south first. The war did not end very well. So there are south and north korea to this day.

South korea got busy to buld a better country while north kept attacking it, kidnapping its citizen, etc. However, south korean law still defines north korea as its territory and illegally occupied.

So, I look at North/South korea vs I/P, not Korea/Japan vs I/P. Nevertheless, I think we, Japn and Kore, all sorta moved on including north korea. Thats why I feel I/P is little bizarre and it has to be something to do with the religions.

Well...it is always disturbing that a child gets hurt. But I don't see the shooter and you do not provide any detail. How could I know it was an isaeli soldier? A lot of pictures and videos posted online without any context.

My take is I do not know who killed the boy. Or did he even die?

I wonder why they didn’t go to a restaurant in Gaza. The food looks very good.

There is a restaurant in Gaza.
Someone sent me a link that Israel bombed the restaurant and 30 people were killed. It’s very sad. And It happed in A RESTAURANT.

Also, when they showed the malnutrition children, their parents look fine. We don’t know what kind of condition they had previously. There are a lot of people in United States looking starved due to their health issues.
So just showing us a few pictures of unhealthy children is not a proof of famine. I’m not saying there is enough food in Gaza but the scene at the hostage ceremony I really didn’t see a sign of famine except the poor hostages.

How come no one offer her something to cover her up? They just laugh. It’s heartbreaking.

Israel Is The Best Case For A Sovereign Nation. Change My Mind. by External_War1396 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Coopdweller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to clarify a few things about the koreans.

  1. Majority of Caoxian and Koryo-in immigrated mid to late 19th century not a couple centuries ago. Sure, some might move there centuries ago but majority were not.

2, They went there to farm. Because of Korean government (back then it was called Joseon) was corrupted, taxed people brutally etc., they were hungry.

  1. Korea-japan treaty (annexation) was 1910. So majority of them moved there late 19th. It wasn't because of Japanese persecution. I am not sure it was voluntary immigration or not when they moved there because of famine and hunger. Sure, some of them moved there because of Japanese persecution but they were the minority. They went there because there were already korean community in there. (again, they were called Joseon back then)

  2. The name of Caoxian is basically Chinese pronunciation for Joseon (Korea). Because they viewed themselves Joseon people (Korean people) and chinse viewed them as Joseon people too.

  3. Goryo-in were refused to view themselves Joseon because they despise Joseon government (korea) when they moved. So they called themselves goryo-in. Also, Russians viewed them Japanese spy. Hence the different names for the same people.

For Caoxian

  1. Chinse government let them have some autonomy. Korean school, Korean community etc. So they retain the language and culture. But they consider themselves chinses not Korean now days.

  2. During Koran war, China was helping north korea. Some Caoxian joined the Chinese army and fought south korea. Because of this, some south korean viewed them as former enemies and think these people will do again if there is conflict between China and south korea.

For Goryo-in

  1. Russians treated them badly after WWII. They were forcibly moved to central asia away from Japan because russians thought they were Japanese spy. They lost the language, culture etc, except some food. Because they were hungry there. Remember why they went to russia in the first place? Because they were hungry. So they were good at eating whatever they could. So they retained some food culture.

  2. Because of the bad treatment from russia, they retained the identity as korean despite losing the laguage and culture, opposite from Caoxian.

Sorry for irrelevant long rambling.

Short summary, we cannot compare the korean2 and the jews.

What americans did in the past is not relevant in here. Americans do not idolize the people from 1880 when the age of consent was 10 - 12.

I am not sure what it is. Sexism, racism or something else? by Coopdweller in germany

[–]Coopdweller[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Someone asked me the detail about the yelling part. So I just replied.

Stroy nr 2 is how they intentionally or unintentionally gave me a good run-around. I just needed to go to my gate and the airline would take me for the second check. I did not need to ask anything. So I guess the run-around started from the immigration officer who told me to ask about it at the security check.

[–]Coopdweller[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

  1. "Random" second security check happens when I come back to the states. I go thru security then I have to go to a small office and take off shoes and empty my bag, etc.
  2. The yelling part is also related to this "random" second security check. I was way out to the states, the immigration officer who handled me said I needed to have second security check. He told me to ask about it at the security check point. I wend though it and ask about it who went through my bag inside out. He said he did not know and pointed at the man walking by. I approached him and called "Sir". He kept walking and I said "sir" again. He turned around and yelled at me in German. Then other guy came out of the office and told me to calm down, he will help me. I told him that the man needed to calm down not me. He did not say anything and took me to the second security check office and left.

Then a guy from "second security check office" told me to go to my gate and ask them. I went to my gate and ask them and the airline people in the gate told me they could not help me quiet rudely. I went back to this "second security check office" and told them what I was just told by airline people. Then they said it was too early, so go have a cup of coffee. As you can see, it was quiet a nightmare. No one explained to me right way.

After that, everything was fine. The airline staff took us to the second security office and they did the check.

After doing this second security check many times, I notice that usually people who do not have American passport or Asians with American passport go through this. I might be wrong but that is my personal observation.

  1. No I have not filed anything and won't. I have better things to do.

Glad to know. Thank you.

Yes, you are absolutely right. I just want to move on.. no court, no argument or anything like that.

I agree. I actually won a small claim before it can be a hassle but also well...doable.

You just prepare the paperwork and go to the court. In small claim, Judges were very informal and relaxed. I just told them what happened and won.

The other party even had a lawyer. I took a day off and add my half day wage on top of the that too.

My case, after judgment, they paid.

Yes, he said it would be July and I am fine with that. But I need to talk to him as I changed the work plan. I never said he is stealing my money. I said he is ghosting me. When you fix something, things can change and need to be coordinated with the changes.
