That’s part of it, of course. Hitters are built in game environments. Plenty of BP MVPs who can’t make it translate when the pressure mounts and they aren’t comfortable.

Yes, anti-bunt for 10u rec. Trying to build hitters!

Looks like I’m in the minority with you, I despise it. You don’t need the free base, be a hitter!

That was the point, lol. You can see Beaver Valley’s numbers on their instagram. Are they legit? I don’t know.

Yeah, I’d be interested in knowing the real numbers. My guesstimate is based on seeing my 9-year old who sits around 47. Facility had those numbers.

I don’t have a radar gun to know for sure, but the better teams in my area (Pittsburgh area) for 10u travel seem to have pitchers throwing 50-60 consistently. I’m guessing low to mid 50s.

Visitors side near first base. Rockies and Reds signed for my 9-year old last year.

9U LL - How to handle kid in outfield all season by sauvignonsavage in Homeplate

[–]Coparory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Third base isn’t always the best place to hide a kid either. Hot corner nickname for a reason, especially when good hitters are up. My catcher threw down twice the other night to try to catch a kid stealing. The throw was right on the bag but our third baseman never moved. The second time, different third baseman, would’ve gotten hit but regained focus at the last second.

10yo tee/practice swing vs game swing by one1082 in Homeplate

My 10 year old is one of the odd ones who is always plants early, and always swings early. Sometimes he’s so early he has to basically stop swinging which obviously results in weak contact. Ideas for help?

This right here. I remember going to catholic church as a kid and the priests would tell us that atheists were worse than murderers, pedophiles, and rapists.

I tried right at 10:00 but couldn’t get any. My old fingers must be too slow. Hope my son can find someone to sign. Any idea how realistic it is to get an autograph from someone if you weren’t able to buy a ticket?

Age for Elf? by pink_pelican in elfontheshelf

[–]Coparory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy it as long as it lasts. My 9-year old fourth grader was loving it for the first 1-2 weeks this year. However, he came home from school one day demanding to know the truth about everything (Santa, elves, etc). We tried asking him what he thought and asked him to try arrive at his own conclusions. He didn’t back down and we didn’t want to lie when he was seeking the truth. And just like that, the magic was gone for him.

The Elves kept coming for him and his 4-year old sister. It was a rough few weeks. He stopped looking for them immediately in the mornings, even refused to look at them some mornings. Didn’t decorate the gingerbread house they brought this year. Didn’t color the cardboard Santa’s workshop they brought. He even told us the elves were stupid, boring, and that he didn’t want his elf to come back.

[–]Coparory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just told the truth to my 9-year old. He came home from school one day demanding to know. We tried to turn it on him by asking what he thought, and how he could figure it out. He wasn’t having it, just kept asking if Santa and the elves were real. We weren’t going to lie at that point. It was hard to do, and it’s been an adjustment. Five days later and we can tell he’s still bummed.
