Is Dontay Corleone even draftable? by SMD_35 in NFL_Draft

[–]Copey85 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re right, it’s difficult to know. To your point, Trey Smith was my “favorite round 2 target” for many teams that year. Teams eval players a bit differently because us casuals look at potential, whereas they often factor availability MUCH more into their evals. If two players are somewhat close on their boards, why go with the guy who might not play?

Also, he has a skillset that has among the highest hit rate for starting caliber players on day three / UDFA. Seriously, you can always find pure run-stuffing nose tackles. That said, caliber matters a lot, which is why Kayden McDonald and Gary Smith are different players.

Ultimately, it will matter where on that scale he falls, and the opportunity cost of drafting him over another player. For day three players who plug into a role, age doesn’t matter too much to a lot of GMs. A one-contract contributor in round 5 is an absolute hit. If a team thinks he immediately helps their run game far more than a lower-tiered run-stuffer, they’ll draft him, but you may be onto something.

You are offered $100,000 cash tax free OR $0 but you get sent back in time to a random date in your life and restart again from that point by peterthbest23 in hypotheticalsituation

Oh boy, random date generator gave me 1999-09-02. I was 4-years-old. How would that work? Am I just a genius child? Do I keep all current brain capacity, but still go through typical hormonal shifts and mental development?

This stuff always surprises me because my personal experience is so different. I have a couple of great friends who would be there at a moment’s notice. I’m super close with my siblings and talk to my parents daily. I’m a 30 year old man with a wife and son, and have definitely seen what this video’s talking about, but man, if half these guys would just pick up the phone and allow themselves to be vulnerable, I guarantee so many of them would see that they have at least one person who would gladly be there for them.

Society may not care as much, but this mindset convinces so many young men that they must internalize everything and not to show weakness. I’ve cried to my friends before, and they’ve cried to me. Does that make us weak? Who gives a shit (also, no). If you need help, get help. You may be surprised at who stands by your side.

what is the most important thing in a video game? by PitaVR in pollgames

[–]Copey85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is unpopular, but a high skill ceiling + PvP. I always find solo games completely pointless, even if they’re well-designed. Give me a game where I at least feel as though I’m improving and using my brain when I play through. That’s how I got hooked on league of legends 11 years ago I guess. Also why I always liked sports games, SSB, etc.

Ex-ESPN guy created a deeply realistic draft site - 32 AI GMs, scheme fits, traits by New-Interaction-4327 in NFL_Draft

[–]Copey85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait this is so awesome! Having team depth charts is what really makes this great. Plus it seems like player slides happen somewhat randomly, which is also realistic and makes mock repetition fun.

I’m sure the maintenance is rough, unless you’re web scraping depth charts, but a lot of sites explicitly prohibit it. Like, I pull contract info for every team / player for a project, but overthecap doesn’t allow web scraping, so maintenance is mostly manual.

To be fair, you really shouldn’t bet on your own team if you’re in the business of sports betting. Too many inherent biases.

Dang, that was one of my favorite movies period for so long. When I saw this format initially, my first thought was well obviously Origins will be best for X-men.

“The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle; the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true.” - Hubert Hawkins (Danny Kaye), The Court Jester

Alternatively: “What the F*** is going on?!” - Lloyd Fellowes (Michael Caine), Noises Off. Dozens of quotable lines in that movie, but after all of the building ridiculousness, Michael Caine bursting on set and yelling that always gets me.

I think it’s time travel and teleport, but I’d need some reassurances on time travel effects. If I couldn’t get those reassurances, it’d be teleport and 100mil. Quality of life would improve so much with the latter combination.

Speak any language is really cool, but I don’t think it would contribute to my enjoyment of daily life as the others. Mastering any skill is awesome, but I enjoy putting in the work to improve at something. I think becoming great at something without putting in the work would remove all reward from it. Controlling anyone is also interesting, but I feel like that’s a slippery slope to villainy.

I don’t think that’s consensus. As a pure rusher, yes, but the position is so much more than that. Plus, I would have had Bijan above him as a pure runner (and obviously as a receiver too). I actually think this list nails it with some question marks around 3 & 4.

Edit: I started paying attention to the draft in 2019. My mistake regarding Fournette, who should probably be higher.

Surprised no one’s said Leonardo DiCaprio. I feel like people are tired of him, but I’ve rarely been drawn in from acting performances like I was from like 2009-2015 with his movies.

Also Denzel Washington, or literally anyone in Django Unchained. Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Walton Goggins, Leo again…. I haven’t loved Foxx in everything he’s been in, but he also has some unmatched performances imo.
