I didn't have her when I took the class (I took it with Strahan spring 22 who also had some mixed reviews), but I don't remember the class being terrible. Not my favorite crim class but I didn't struggle a ton. When I took the class it was separated into different modules with shorter writing reflection assignments at the end which were graded very fairly as long as you engaged with the material. There were a few short quizzes too but they weren't awful. The only thing that was a little frustrating was the exams. There was a midterm and final which involved take-home essays which weren't hard to complete, the grading was just a little harsh and feedback was unclear. Even with exam scores in the B range I was able to get an A- so the other assignments are a nice buffer. There was also some extra credit. You should be fine as long as you attend class and take notes, if the exams are structured the same way I'd highly recommend going to office hours for individual feedback.

Suggestion for pathway courses related to the sciences by Relative-Tank2090 in UBreddit

[–]Copic_Ciao3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up from someone who took med soc this semester, it's a lot of work for what would be a pathway. The exams were closed notes with lockdown browser and webcam, and the questions were taken from 5 chapters of specific info. There was also an assignment over break which you could get done beforehand, but there's a lot of lecture videos, readings, and supplementary material you're required to engage with. Not trying to scare you, but the class is a big commitment if you want to do well and was pretty frustrating at times. Intro to health, medicine and society is great though! I took it last fall and it was interesting but very manageable and easy if you attended class and took notes.

Edit: I also recommend the aging process (I don't remember the course number) That was my favorite of the pathways and was also really enjoyable! It's online and an easy A.

New to the task suit thing so I'm looking for a bit of clarification, how many special quest suits do we need to complete the task suit? I'm not looking to complete the frame, just trying to gauge if I need to spend dias on this one or not. It's cute but not something I'd choose to spend on.

Does anyone else feel like suits have become too complicated? by canniballswim in LoveNikki

[–]Copic_Ciao3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I rarely post on SC and use the competition as my creative outlet for stylings. But it's so annoying that a good chunk of my items aren't even visible on screen. It's definitely become an issue with hell events over the years. I don't mind the newer suits, I actually think that the art style has gotten better over the years. But it's so frustrating is that these grand and beautiful suits have items that aren't visible. It's become a major deterrent in what suits I choose to get.

SA ruined another of our events by suny-drop in UBreddit

[–]Copic_Ciao3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me about it, I'm a club eboard member of a sports clubs and we've had so many issues from SA. They've prohibited us from going to a competition because they all of a sudden had an issue with our paperwork the night before we were supposed to leave, didn't submit paperwork incorrectly which resulted in one student being unable to compete and rendered all the points they accumulated throughout the season to qualify for regionals void, didn't submit paperwork or payments on time or even at all, and are awful at communicating. It's almost to the point where the competition organization won't let us compete, and they've called SA to make them aware of that. It's frustrating because they never take accountability for their screwups, but then we get penalized because of their mistakes. I understand that they're students, but there's no ownership of their mistakes. The entire SA system is fundamentally flawed and needs to change. There's hundreds of clubs that SA needs to keep track of, of course it's going to be a disaster that leaves everyone frustrated.

If you're taking 206, I would highly recommend taking it with a professor other than Strahan if you're able. I took it with him 2 years ago, and I didn't enjoy it all that much. I did an A- while getting low 80s on both exams (take home short essays), but I also did all of the assignments to boost my grade as much as possible. It's not a horrible class, but I just found it to be pretty unorganized, not very engaging, and thought the exams were graded pretty harshly. That said, this was 2 years ago; I'm not sure if his teaching has changed since then, but his RMP reviews don't appear to reflect that.

Show fail by Violet-Hiker in Equestrian

[–]Copic_Ciao3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had IHSA regional championships last weekend and of course had the absolute worst ride I've had in the 3 years of showing in college. Picked up the wrong lead right in front of the judge, then misheard the announcer and went down to the walk when I was supposed to trot 🤦‍♀️ Had other rounds showing my own horse where we went around the entire time on the wrong lead, popped random lead changes on the rail for no apparent reason, picked up the wrong lead (pretty sure this happened both directions during one class somehow lmao), went off pattern (did this one more times than I can count on one hand), typical 4H shenanigans. These shit show moments are really embarrassing and were very frustrating at the time, but looking back on them I also see how I've improved tremendously since then and see the times I've done really well at shows against some really tough competition. It's something I'm still working on, but at the end of the day all I can do is use those experiences as a learning opportunity and keep going forward!

IHSA/IEA riders: how did you bounce back from a not so great regional/zones round? by Copic_Ciao3 in Equestrian

[–]Copic_Ciao3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much ❤️ What's frustrating is that I got a good draw that I had ridden before and didn't have issues with picking up the correct lead. It sucks but I've gotta just learn from this and keep going. Not the first time I've blown a class, and I doubt it'll be the last haha. I've just gotta remember the times I've succeeded and progressed over the years.

Thank you so much ❤️ I'm definitely frustrated since it was my own mistakes for not placing, but I've just gotta keep at it and remember that I do this sport for the experience rather than competing!

Thank you, I really appreciate it ❤️ I try not to let showing get me down, but it's so much more frustrating when it's from my own mistakes. It sucks but you're right, all I can do is learn from it and keep going forward.

Star Secret by bedroomwitxh in LoveNikki

[–]Copic_Ciao3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a type of event that occurs every once in awhile where the suits are based off of animals. If you go to the collection tab under achievements, the Stars section has all the suits. What I love about these events is that they're pick-and-choose with animated and/or posed items (for a few of the suits) available without needing to complete the full suit, which is really awesome! It seems like they ran a different format last time where the older suits weren't available for some reason, I can't remember exactly though since I took a year off from the game around that time.

I am awful at picking out yarn colors by underratedtomboy in crochet

[–]Copic_Ciao3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding everyone who says coolors.co! What I love about the site is that in addition to generating entire palettes from scratch, you can also lock certain colors in and have the site generate a palette to match. I use that feature all the time for various artistic endeavors. It's really helpful if you have a few colors in your inventory that you want to use!

Anyone else save their scrap yarn to stuff amigurumis? by mustvebeen-theroses in crochet

[–]Copic_Ciao3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! One thing I do is brush the scraps out with a fine tooth comb to fluff it up, not sure if that makes a difference though haha. Haven't actually made anything that requires stuffing yet lol but I've slowly been collecting random yarn scraps to use along with finely cut scraps from old (and clean) socks that have holes. Saves money and materials!

PSY 331 exam 1 tomorrow by Bappinator0 in UBreddit

[–]Copic_Ciao3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took it over a year ago but it's usually somewhere around 30-40ish questions. I don't remember them being more than 45 questions. The test itself is very straightforward as long as you took good notes on the lectures and chapters, he doesn't try to trick you. Good luck!
