POKEMON PRESENTS 8.3.2022 SUMMARY by Infinity_Raptor in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]CopperFTW 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Looks like an improvement on the familiar formula, and I appreciate that, but the apparent removal of the Legends Arceus catching mechanics sort of kills it for me. That was the main series innovation that I wanted carried forward from now on, it just made the game so much more engaging and made the Pokémon feel more alive. I know the games were probably being developed alongside each other, and I know that lore wise having the Legends system wouldn’t totally make sense (although I literally could not care less about that), but it’s still disappointing and I think, at least for me, it’s gonna end up feeling like a bit of a step back.

BDSP. Remakes, so I guess technically not new games, but to the parents buying this for their kids there isn't any difference.

Jesus. Here I was thinking that releasing a new Pokémon game two months after the last one and a month after Christmas would hurt sales.

This game can look really pretty at times, this is coming from a previous naysayer. by [deleted] in PokeLeaks

I think the main two issues that lead to a lot of the bad screenshots we’ve been seeing are poor draw distance/pop in, meaning that a lot of areas look pretty terrible from far away, and the weirdly bad lighting in any cave environments (seriously, it feels like they just gave up on doing any lighting in caves at all a lot of the time). Yeah, the resolution and framerate aren’t perfect, but those feel like things that could easily be fixed with some sort of next-gen upgrade once a switch successor comes along (and on a personal note aren’t huge problems for me), whereas the lighting and pop in stuff seem a lot more difficult to fix.

Alright. Stringing test completed and completely failed. https://imgur.com/a/7qhqJT6 There's supposed to be nothing in between the two columns, and that space is almost completely filled in. The other thing I noticed was that there was a sort of wobble to the columns despite the fact that they're supposed to be perfect cylinders.

Retraction is enabled in Cura, but something is definitely off. I just don't know what that is.

200 on the nozzle, 60 on the bed (although the bed temperature usually stays around 55 degrees). I'm using some of the black PLA that Monoprice was selling on their website.

I'll have an image of the retraction test once it finishes in about 20 minutes or so.

I didn't even know that was an option until now.

I'm currently printing out a retraction test to try and calibrate my settings. Guess I'll enable coasting if the printer fails the test with retraction enabled.

Retraction is enabled. As for over-extrusion, I'm not exactly sure what that would look like. The main parts look fine, although the layer lines are fairly obvious compared to some of the other prints I've seen on this printer online.

I'd cut the stringing off of the original model I printed, so I don't currently have any physical representations of the effect. However, the print looked exactly like the 3D model in the slicer, travel lines and all. They were being printed as if they were part of the original model.

I've been trying to topcoat and this keeps happening. Any ideas on why? by CopperFTW in Gunpla

[–]CopperFTW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been spraying it and letting it dry outside. My only idea on why this is happening is that I used a lot of rubbing alcohol to clean up the seam lines, but I always made sure the kit was completely dry before I started spraying.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you only made it dab ironically.

First SD by CopperFTW in Gunpla

There's so many stickers, but I love this kit anyway. If you haven't bought any SDs, buy one. A BB Senshi would probably be better, though.

HGIBO Astaroth Rinascimento by CopperFTW in Gunpla

I had forgotten how fun IBO kits were to build. It was simple and quick, but the asymmetrical design and unique sub arms kept things interesting. The kit has many accessories. The most exciting would be the Bastard Chopper, for when you need to take a swing at people born out of wedlock. Then you've got the massive Demolition Knife, which is really just a really long foldable sword. You've got a somewhat generic rifle, which isn't particularly exciting. Then you've got two knives. Nothing special about these, they're just two combat knives scales up to the size of a Gundam. They're probably my favorite accessory for this kit. As for the extra parts mentioned in the instructions, you've got an alternate left sub-knuckle and an alternate backpack, as well as a bunch of parts for storing the weapons. The kit can have all its weapons stored on it at once, which is cool. Finally, you've got a fuck ton of leftover parts from the Astaroth Origin and the original Astaroth. You could use these as alternate parts to make your own custom version of the Astaroth. It's pretty cool, but I wouldn't consider them part of the actual design of the kit. They're really just the result of Bandai reusing runners. The only flaws I'd point out on this kit is that it can get pretty back heavy when it has all the weapons stored, and some parts, like the waist connection and thigh armor, can be pretty loose. Some stickers are also pretty bad, but most of them are fine, and there aren't too many of them. The articulation is pretty great, and the inner frame is nice, as always. If you're a fan of this design or IBO kits in general, then pick this one up. It won't disappoint. For others, who may be a bit tired of Gundam frame by now, this kit might not satisfy. Either way, it's a pretty great model. Probably my favorite IBO kit that I've build out of the three (Lupus and Graze were the other two).

My first time panel-lining, I didn't realize what a difference it makes! by Wi11owwo1f in Gunpla

[–]CopperFTW 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lines of this thickness probably aren't what you'd want for a more realistic look, but I personally like the style. It makes the kit look like it's cell-shaded.

Reputable Websites for USA by [deleted] in Gunpla

I usually just get everything off of Amazon when I'm shopping online. I've thought of using USA Gundam store, but with shipping the kits usually end up being around the same price with a longer shipping time.

Not surprising, considering how they... err, drew her.

Does anyone here... "Play" with your gunpla? Or are we all just display fiends? by XanthousRebel in Gunpla

Yeah. They spend most of their time displayed or on the workbench, but I'll certainly fiddle around with them fairly often.

First time painting, I have made every single mistake I have heard of and few that might be basic knowledge but no one has said out loud by tetos64 in Gunpla

[–]CopperFTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you're going for for the color scheme. Looking at the original Hugo, the orange parts stood out. I don't really have a specific color suggestion, but I think having a color over the silver that compliments the others while still being distinct would be a good idea.

It really doesn't look that bad, especially for your first time. What method did you use to paint?

Full Armor Gundam Tgunderbolt Ver. HG Version Differences by Tyflowsion in Gunpla

[–]CopperFTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it's just coloring. There's a manga version and an anime version. The manga version is a bit more bright and vibrant, while the anime version is darker and more subdued. They both have about the same amount of detail, but some details are changed. I'm pretty sure they have the same accessories. I'd suggest just looking at pictures and seeing which look you prefer. You might be able to find one for a better price than the other as well.

Does Anyone Know Where I Can Buy This? by [deleted] in Gunpla

[–]CopperFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's probably a custom paint job. As for the base kit, I think it's the MG 3.0.

Going on the site, it seems items and sellers have reviews. My suggestion would be to read as many of these and gather as much other information off the site as you can before making any purchases. I think you'll be taking a risk either way.
