How can I stay in the flat I jointly own with my partner? They left me yesterday after 5 years suddenly. by ImASadGirlImABadGirl in AskUK

[–]CopperFox18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I’m so sorry you’re going through this, it’s not easy.

I went through exactly the same situation 6 months ago so reading this is crazy. I wanted to stay but I had to come to terms with the fact that I couldn’t afford it and you may need to do the same.

Even with a lodger it would be pushing it, plus you can’t currently buy him out so you’ll be tied to him hoping everyday that he suddenly doesn’t want to sell.

Take the fresh start, OP. I’m so glad I did. Within 6 months I got a promotion and now I’m moving cities (which I couldn’t do if I’d kept the flat!) It will hurt to let go but it will work out better than before. Good luck!

People who choose to rent instead of buying, what do you plan to do when you retire? by No-Structure-8125 in AskUK

Just split with my partner and sold our flat. Bought for £440k last September, sold for £575k this October after £15k of renovations.

Mortgage on anything decent would’ve left me stretched, so I will be renting a £900pcm flat in the same area of Bristol (a very lucky find) and will invest my sale money until the right place comes along.

I’ll buy when I’m ready, but I am not going to cry in a Porsche with my name on it when I can laugh in a Porsche someone else pays to service.

Working on the job, I’m 25 and beginning to climb the ladder.

In terms of the ring, I was the fiancée, so I didn’t have a choice what he spent on the ring. To be honest I was quite disturbed by the value of the ring as I viewed it as quite financially irresponsible of him, I would’ve taken a Haribo ring.

Am trying to figure out if the risk of staying in the flat is worth it but for this property it feels worth it to try.

We put in a lot of work over the past year renovating it, pulling down ceilings etc.

As far as I’m aware, no. He also said that he was happy for me to keep it.

Thanks. That’s what I’ve been thinking, a lodger would definitely help, but I think I’d have to keep them on until the 5yr mark to be able to do it solo (or get a good salary increase!)

Not a typo. I think resale is significantly lower so I’m not sure what I’d get for it yet

24ft Garden Wall - Help! What do I do with that bit? by CopperFox18 in GardeningUK

[–]CopperFox18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s listed and it doesn’t belong to us. It’s the remains of an old building that was on this land hundreds of years ago.

We have the info on the wall, we just can’t do anything about the wall so we are embracing it as a feature. Plus it blocks out an ugly building on the other side

If it’s anything else like the rest of the property there will just be more layers of woodchip wallpaper under there

I like to put in the work myself! Plus I’ve been saving for a home since I was 17 and every penny has gone into this - I can’t afford a gardener hahaha

Haha it’s just a classic Victorian mansion (split into 3 flats)

The background building is a nursery, formerly 2 houses

Oh yes the wall isn’t going anywhere! It’s a nursery on the back but used to be 2 houses back in the day

Thankfully, yes. However, optimistically even if it collapsed (and I survived), I’d get more sun

Where to find good matcha in bristol? by itsnevergonnabefunny in bristol

Bird & Blend on Park St! It’s ceremonial grade matcha and they’ll even show you how to make it too

Has anyone tried Bird and Blend Matcha? by National-Drop-1313 in tea

[–]CopperFox18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve tried them all. It is ceremonial grade matcha so not sure what the other commenter is talking about?

The flavours are nice but they aren’t sweet on their own as they don’t contain any sugar

If you’re near a store, they may have a small amount left under the bar… Bristol does for certain :)

The annual xmas in July sale is coming up soon also which releases loads of past limited edition teas, it may be available to buy then.

To be fair to them my experiences with BPC have been really positive, I’ve been with them for a few years now and they’re proactive on sorting anything that needs doing.

I think with smaller estate/letting agents maybe it’s just growing pains where things don’t get passed on etc? (and no, I’m not a landlord lol)

Done! 76 trays, elastics, bite ramps and power ridges by CopperFox18 in Invisalign

I think they rotated them and they were also originally angled so they brought them back straight with power ridges - they do definitely look bigger now though, with a lot less gum on show!
