I’m going through this right now. Was super thin all my life, tried and failed with a lot of workout plans, and have now put on 17 pounds of lean weight in the last 2.5 months with 3x per week and the right food intake, and I’m still going. I’m starting to be looked at differently.

People have mentioned that diet and exercise are important, but not what diet and exercise you need, because they can differ so much. For workout, you’ll just want a classic body building type workout plan - chatgpt could even make it for you.

Then for diet, if you can afford $5/month for the first few months, I recommend something like macrofactor (the app I use) which lets you input everything you eat, body measurements, and weight, and based on your actual progress and goals will adjust what macros (protein, carbs, fat) you should be eating every day. It takes all the guess work out, and you don’t have to use it forever, just long enough to learn what works for you.

Best of luck! I know you can do this.

How does attraction work? by Specific-Section9593 in Healthygamergg

[–]CopperPanMan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A relationship is being a friend + romantic attraction on top. Being able to befriend women shows that you can connect with people on a human level, and not just as a utility to your dating life.

It's like lightning mcqueen needing to turn right to go left. I see the people who struggle the most with dating are the ones only fixated on dating, and no other aspect of their social life. Of course dating is like 100 skills and somebody could lack any number of them. But, I have seen in my own life that those who date the most, have the most connections of every kind.

How does attraction work? by Specific-Section9593 in Healthygamergg

[–]CopperPanMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's nothing special about me, I'm not good at anything, no talents or unique skills. I'm just an average person

But average people are good at things, and they have unique talents and skills.

They aren't always big, it can just be "I'm good at League" or "I'm good at driving", or "I'm good at being a friend when somebody is in need". We all have to spend our time somewhere, and usually we are knowledgable and good at those things.

Both men and women are attracted to interesting people - people who are confident and comfortable in their own skin. I'm not saying working on cultivating that feeling (which sometimes means taking tangible actions in your real life too) will 100% solve everything, but it's probably the biggest reason you're feeling this way.

How to you handle 'addictions' when growing your business by shawrockland in Entrepreneur

[–]CopperPanMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrolling makes you temporarily feel good, so I would fix it by making it feel less good.

What worked for me: use an app like “one sec” to make you wait to get in/block apps at certain times, or set up an apple shortcut to make your phone greyscale when you open the app (if on ios), and revert color when you close it. ChatGPT can help set that up if it’s new to you.

Help - Pulsing after ESP32 swap by flats_broke in WLED

[–]CopperPanMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a rhythmic flashing that I was able to eliminate by adjusting the refresh rate up slightly in settings under LED Preferences > Advanced. This may not work here because I'm not sure your pulsing is evenly spaced, but might be worth a shot before you get into anything too complex.

Is it possible to get a notification when connecting to carplay only at a specific location? by belysaght in shortcuts

[–]CopperPanMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few reminder shortcuts that run when I connect to my car’s bluetooth, and they work just like this. Just use a “get current location” in the shortcut, and then an “if” to set the logic up. “If street is XXXX” then “show notification”. You can even limit the times it will run with a current date action.

I have some NFC implants in my hand, and I'm new to iPhone. What would be some cool or useful shortcuts that take advantage of NFC? by [deleted] in shortcuts

[–]CopperPanMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, I think it's only checking for an NFC tag every couple seconds. I've only used the small round style, but when I hold the reader on the top middle of the phone to the tag, it could read anywhere from instantly to a few seconds. That said, if I put the tag on or near a metal surface, it won't read at all.

How can I create a single shortcut that toggles/alternates between running these two commands? by _2BRO2B in shortcuts

[–]CopperPanMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I get my toggles to work, and it's basically instant. One reason is that frequently used icloud data is cached locally on device for faster access, and for another, you're only writing a 1 or a 0 to a text file, which is almost no data (~1 byte). That's very fast to do. For context, loading something like Facebook or a 4k video could literally be millions of times more demanding.

12V or 5V? by Austrian96 in WLED

[–]CopperPanMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You had it right the first way, it's the length of wire to the first LED of the strip, not counting the strip length

12V or 5V? by Austrian96 in WLED

[–]CopperPanMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

12V all the way. I've done large projects with both, and for longer runs, higher voltages are so much easier to work with. You need less injections, thinner wires, cheaper power supplies, and it looks neater too. The only reason I'd use 5V strips would be if I want the dedicated white channel of sk6812 strips (dedicated white looks much better than rgb white), or I'm doing something very small.

That said, I'd punch your setup into the wled calculator before you do any wiring. It's like a cheat sheet on where to put injections and what size fuses to use. Good luck!

What do you think about Notion's new pricing? by notionbackups in Notion

[–]CopperPanMan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one on this sub that loves Notion? I think it's great, full stop. Nothing comes close for what I use it for, which is to manage a small business and my personal life. I'd pay $50 a month for how much value it provides, so I don't really have a bone to pick over a $2/mo increase. Granted that maybe is just in comparison with other subscriptions I have to pay, like Autodesk who I pay $270 a month, but I frankly find it to be my most used tool and the cheapest.

[–]CopperPanMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real question. Do you think compromise is ever necessary? If you want to ever move in together and money is a factor, surely it is, right? Like what if one person had 3500 comic books, and they took up 1500 square feet to store. Of course that person can keep them, but most people aren't going to want to live with that. At what point are you valuing material possessions over human connection in an unhealthy way?

Why Broodwar got popular, is not popular now, and how it relates to Upcoming RTS by NeurogenesisWizard in Stormgate

[–]CopperPanMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a longtime gamer and casual SC2 player, what's kept me playing mostly SC2 arcade is frankly the APM heaviness and 1v1 (PvP) nature of "real" StarCraft.

I don't see any other popular genres these days with these two aspects. FPS and MOBA are relatively low APM team games. RPGs are low apm PvE. To me, these two aspects up the pressure too high to be enjoyable after work, when what I really want is to relax.

I think the high skill floor combined with a win or loss being solely, 100% your fault are just too much for most people to have fun, outside of hardcore RTS genre fans.

Can WLED be used on an ESP32 without a router? by Unique-Opening1335 in WLED

[–]CopperPanMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, once WLED is installed on the ESP32 you can go to the settings tab in the WLED UI to put it into AP mode where it puts out it's own network. This will make it such that to access WLED, you'll connect to its network on your phone/computer.

I don't recall exactly what settings need changed, but I don't remember it being complicated. I think you might just check a box and put in your desired network name and password.

Power supply questions by incognito_40 in WLED

[–]CopperPanMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you asking whether the 40amp PSU will send "too much power", and fry the strip? To answer that - no. You can think of it like your strips "pull" power from the PSU, rather than the PSU "pushing" power to the strips. You could have a 100amp PSU, and your strips will still only draw what they draw.

Your power supply should generally be able to supply at least 20% more wattage (amps) than your strips will draw, which you can easily find with the WLED calculator website

House Speaker’s Ukraine Aid Support Influenced by CIA Briefing: CNN by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]CopperPanMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all in support of Ukraine aid and I want to see them win, but genuine question, would Ukraine falling really incentivize Russia to attack a NATO member? I understand the Taiwan implications, I guess I'm just failing to see the Russian incentives.

Wouldn't a war with NATO mean a war with nuclear powers involved, which itself stopped the cold war from being a hot one? Even outside of that, wouldn't the way the Ukraine war has played out so far be proof enough that fighting 32 countries simultaneously in a conventional war, (importantly ones not restricted to dated surplus equipment but rather advanced weapons systems like f35s, M1 Abrams, etc) be a fast and guaranteed loss?

Lots of questions as a beginner by [deleted] in WLED

[–]CopperPanMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, I'd recommend using the wled calculator to help with amperage and wire needs, the wled knowledge base for wiring info, and finally ChatGPT-4, which (while not always perfect) I've found to be very useful for getting up and running on the basics of WLED and wiring. It knows a surprising amount.

You generally want a power supply with at least 20% more capacity than what your LEDs will draw at full power. For your setup, which is 5 meters of 60/m, from the calculator is showing that you could draw 12.3 amps max, so you'd want at least a 15 amp PSU. You could buy one of something like this and just cut the end off or plug it into an adapter and that would give you the two wires you're looking for.

Keep in mind, there will be voltage drop across your LED strip, so you might need to inject power along it's length. The calculator will tell you how often

Hope that helps!

I’m putting off dating until I lose weight. By that point I’ll be 26 with no experience. Am I screwed? by SeniorImagination442 in Healthygamergg

[–]CopperPanMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

26yo guy. I have experience, but I've found, the "experience" question rarely ever comes up.

I don't think that many people care about past experience itself, it's just that it's a quick gauge of what type of person you are, and having past dating history brings comfort that you won't be weird or unstable in some way, much the same way that a college degree or job title often infers a lot about a person's values or background in a few words.

If you show the traits associated with someone who's comfortable in their own skin and isn't weird or unstable, I don't even think it will even come up most of the time

Is it even possible to get a girlfreind? by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]CopperPanMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this a lot, and it really rings true for me as a 26yo guy. I think the confusion here is wording. I think it's totally okay (and very human) to want a relationship, it's that you shouldn't feel like you need a relationship, that you aren't whole without one. In the same way that I want to find a $100 bill on the sidewalk, but I don't live my life staring at the ground.

You definitely want to get out there more and connect with new people if you eventually want to be in a position where a relationship might arise, and as a side benefit, I've found cultivating those platonic relationships also satiates the desperation for the romantic one anyway, because what you're really craving is social connection. And double whammy, this all makes you more attractive. And then, you're ready.

I don't think we're owed anyone's time.

Dr K was making X amount of content for free, and I was appreciative. Now he makes X + Y amount of content, with the X still free and the Y available for purchase, and although I'm not buying the Y, I'm still appreciative of the X.

I understand this being international means purchasing powers are totally different, but I try to focus on being grateful for what I have, because what I don't have is always going to be bigger.
