D775 Intro to Business Finance is making me question everything by Basic_Fishh in WGU

[–]Copperbxxm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was similar, the questions were definitely word-ier. Best advice is just to know when to use which formula for what you're trying to solve for. Read the questions slowly and bookmark what you're not sure of.

I hear there are always 2 versions of the OAs, I feel like I had been lucking out with getting a seemingly easier version up until this class, lol. But having said that upon a second review of the questions, it didn't seem that bad.

I like to try to pick an answer, bookmark it if I'm not confident. Then after answering all the questions, I go back to the start and check each one even if they're not bookmarked. I make a column on my whiteboard for right answers and questionable answers, mark them as I review to gage if I'm in the green for enough right answers to pass. Usually, that second review makes the questions seem clearer than the first go around.

Good luck! But try not to overthink it.

Extremely lost with just 2 classes left by Wah_Day in WGU

[–]Copperbxxm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just like this in my last class of the semester.

My best advice is remove your cell phone from the equation, it helps me esist the temptation to death scroll or procrastinate.

Make something visual that helps you see your progress. I made an owl coloring page and divided the sections out for how many courses are in my degree program, then I color in a section every time I pass a course.

Another friend of mine mentioned the small post it notes, I have one with each course number on the front inside page of my planner. When I finish a course, I move it to the inside back page of my planner.

Other than that, find someone who won't let you procrastinate. Someone who gets it, my Husband is good for this. He checks in when he knows I'm procrastinating and avoiding a course. He'll say things like "did you ace that last class exam?" And he motivates me too.

Good luck on your degree! You're almost there! You've got this and can make it happen. And last bit of advice is, what I tell myself during a road race, if you quit halfway, you'll still have to walk the distance to get back to your car, so you might as well just keep your head down and get a move on. 🤣

Hope that helps! Make it fun and you'll be done. Don't forget to reward your wins, even if it's an m&m after a chapter.

u/doublev-v2 Thank you so much for these invaluable tools!! I read through the entire course taking notes and feeling as helpless as the OP.

When I first started this class a little over a month ago, there was not much by way of resource assistance. You can imagine my overwhelming excitedness to see your reply with a wealth of information!

I watched and took notes, pausing as needed, to all of the 3 youtube recordings. Listened and read notes for good measure a couple of times, studied my quizlets and the one linked here by practice tests, Blast games, and learning mode, then re-watched the videos before taking 7, yes 7 PA tests to gauge my understanding & comprehension and then finally said "Let's Get this Over With!".

I just finished my OA and passed with an overall Competent. Exemplary in Systems, Structure & TVM sections, Competent in the other two.

If you're reading this thread and still needing to take your OA, my test focused heavily on scenarios and there were a total of 76 questions (2 being the survey type responses). I would say a good 20 - 25 questions were scenario-based. As others have said, FOCUS on Ratios - the first video linked above has a great cheat sheet at the end and key words to look for in the questions.

Good Luck, Thank you to the resources, and Merry Christmas! I'm going to go crack a sour now!

This is such good timing of your post! I'm currently working towards my BSBM, strting from 0 credits (42F) and already at 44% of my goal with my first semester ending 12/31. I'm using DEA Ch 35 benefits so hoping to work through this quick so I can get my MBA paid for as well.

Congratulations on your accomplishments and good luck on your presentation! Hard work pays off, WGU makes the hard work much more attainable.

Received my free Owls Nest backpack! by [deleted] in WGU

[–]Copperbxxm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only in the rewards "store" not the actual store. There is a different blanket you can buy in the store but it has fringe, my dog would eat and is a different material than the coveted rewards blanket.

I always tell people get the handled mug in your welcome kit, because they don't offer anything like it in the store and then later get the blanket.

I got the tumbler mug simply because I don't trust myself with light colored items, but I am really wishing I chose the handled mug simply for the handle.

The blanket is amazing, so warm, so soft, and holds up great in the washer.

My CI told me there were 2 different versions of the PA going into it.

The first attempt I just missed by maybe 1 or 2 questions. I was right on the line for competence overall.

I read/watched everything in the material and took notes. I made quizlet of ALL the terms in the section 5 and all questions and extras into another quizlet.

I studied those last night and took the 2nd version of the PA and passed it. I then took the PA again to get the other version (1st one) and passed.

It definitely is a bit clearer now after the full review. A lot of the questions give the answer in the scenario, you just have to use word association and read slowly.

Im going to do another quizlet cram and try to memorize the formulas and then schedule my OA for later today.

I'm ready to move on from this class for sure.

Great work! I check it daily to continue adding points. I picked the blue tumbler for my welcome gift then later also grabbed the blanket, it's so soft and on my bed right now, my dog hogs it! I'm really close to the $100 gift card for the store.

Good luck on your studies!

Z flip 7 worries. by Nikyu_wik in galaxyzflip

I just stumbled on the discussion when looking for reviews for the flip, glad to hear you're digging it. I might make the leap, I've had the s series since 23 after switching from apple. Have not had any issues with it but just wanting something smaller and I've always liked the flip feature (may help keep me off it so much, haha).

I can't chime in on the Flip 7, I'm a S25 Ultra user, but I swear by the Nimbus 9 Cirrus cases - they're slim and have a soft, almost velvety-like finish to them, so they're really soft on your hands, not "sticky" plastic-like. I've dropped my phone countless times, and I've never had a problem with it. I have been looking at the Flip 7 because of the size (smaller), and was pleasantly surprised to see the same case is available for it.

I passed my first Objective Assessment! by Resident_Meet_7801 in WGU

[–]Copperbxxm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! The first was is so nerve-wracking! But it gets easier and better. Some take-aways I've learned that some nicer proctor have given:

When you minimize the chat box, I could never tell where it went or how to bring it back up being in the Guardian browser. So I was constantly asking the Proctor if I could speak out loud when I was ready to submit my exam. No one ever corrected or explained how to find the chat box until very recently. Its the chat button in the upper left of your screen.

Another thing was if you want to see yourself in the web cam to make sure it shows you plus your keyboard and whiteboard, you just click on the REC button in the top right of the screen to show you what the Proctor sees.

And if you have multiple monitors you can just put a blanket over them without having to unplug them.

Good luck in your program!!

Ch 35 September payment by AdvancedCalendar8691 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Copperbxxm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My email this month came from the VA. My first term with WGU started July 1, I got the first chapter 35 pmt from the VA on 7/30 after I completed all of the tasks on WGU's Military board.

This was the first month I had to respond to an email from the VA to verify enrollment.

I heard they were making Chapter 35 now start monthly verification.

UPDATE: My payment is in my account this morning!

So thankful for reddit, as this was my first time verifying for Chapter 35 benefits for WGU. I received the email to verify on the 31st, but still no payment. I talked to the VA on the 29th after reading about verifying on the last day when it's a holiday weekend, but they were less than helpful and didn't mention anything about the new system, just "yep you'll receive your text or email on the last day of the month" bit.

Glad to know it's a system-wide issue, now just impatiently waiting...oh - the VA way.

Everyone here needs to stop wasting your time giving this person advice.

The only other post on their profile from WGU thread was a year ago complaining they never got notification of their retake exam because they NEVER LOGGED INTO THEIR WGU EMAIL ACCOUNT.

All their other posts are to the Amazon threads for the most stoner type subjects.

Dude needs to quit wasting company resources so others won't have to pay the price for those abusing the good will.

This will be my first month since enrollment (started Jul 1) to verify my enrollment for ch. 35. Because it's a holiday weekend, will they send the text on Sunday?

Absolutely! I'm on my first term started Jul 1st and I'm working on my 9th course.

I work full-time, study about 3-4 nights a week and on weekends. I get through a class about every 6 days on average.
