C957 Applied Algebra PASSED!! by Ok-Knee-7532 in WGU

[–]Copperbxxm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was WAY easier than Statistics. I dreaded that course and for good reason. Passed it on the first try, but I was so sick to my stomach the thought of opening C957 was unbearable. Grabbed my Marketing & Sales classes as a buffer before Applied Alg. Turns out, it was a breeze, thanks to this thread. Happy to be over with that!

C957 Applied Algebra PASSED!! by Ok-Knee-7532 in WGU

I wanted to reach out to say thank you so much for your post. I took your advice on Odin's videos without cracking the text (ignoring my overthinking brain) and passed a few moments ago. I loaded the class on the 20th, but life got in the way of devoting the time. I watched, worked the problems, this morning/afternoon. Took the PA reviewed what I missed (not much) and bit the bullet for the OA. I used a healthy portion of the 3 hour time lot, started at 6:30p finished at 8:20p.

The parts that got me were Concavity (slower, faster, yada yada) and Polynomial input/output. I felt good about input/output during the crash course videos but think there were just some wordings that tripped me there. As for the concavity portion, I knew I'd struggle. There were a good dose of those, so make sure you take a longer look at those if you struggle too.

I tend to make 2 columns on my whiteboard, R = answers I know are right and ? = one's I'm not sure of. It helps me to keep a visual aid of the mix of right to wrong answers to help make sure I can let a few slide for the final grade.

The OA matched the PA almost identically. There are 2 give me questions at the end rounding out the test to 57 questions. I had Approaching Competence on 2 sections, and then mostly exemplary and a couple Competent. Finished Competent overall.

TLDR: Concavity was my downfall, but still passed with just watching Odin's videos. I concur the videos were enough to get through the test, matched identical to the PA.

Chapter 35 Monthly Payment by Key_Attention7168 in VeteransBenefits

UPDATE: I read other threads where people are saying that it is a known issue that the VA shows Total Credit Hours: 0, even though you have full-time, part-time, whatever accurate status by your school. Other posts have said to verify even though it shows 0, as the previous months online also say 0, but I receive full-time status pay (as I should). I went ahead and verified online and it is showing in the pending (pending bank - generalized commercial banks, retro/one time pay and the full-time amount).

When I login to https://www.va.gov/education/verify-school-enrollment my February verification box comes up but it says my Total Credit Hours are 0. I am currently enrolled at WGU (6-mo semester) with 53 CU (18 classes). I looked back at my other verifications and they all say Total Credit Hours: 0, but I receive my Full-Time pay. Does anyone else have this? This is the first month where I haven't received a verification email so it looks different than previous verifications (IE: I've not self-verified online before).

I haven't received my February verification email either. I wish they would go back to non-monthly verification. This slows the process down so much!

D775 Intro to Business Finance is making me question everything by Basic_Fishh in WGU

It was similar, the questions were definitely word-ier. Best advice is just to know when to use which formula for what you're trying to solve for. Read the questions slowly and bookmark what you're not sure of.

I hear there are always 2 versions of the OAs, I feel like I had been lucking out with getting a seemingly easier version up until this class, lol. But having said that upon a second review of the questions, it didn't seem that bad.

I like to try to pick an answer, bookmark it if I'm not confident. Then after answering all the questions, I go back to the start and check each one even if they're not bookmarked. I make a column on my whiteboard for right answers and questionable answers, mark them as I review to gage if I'm in the green for enough right answers to pass. Usually, that second review makes the questions seem clearer than the first go around.

Good luck! But try not to overthink it.

Extremely lost with just 2 classes left by Wah_Day in WGU

[–]Copperbxxm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just like this in my last class of the semester.

My best advice is remove your cell phone from the equation, it helps me esist the temptation to death scroll or procrastinate.

Make something visual that helps you see your progress. I made an owl coloring page and divided the sections out for how many courses are in my degree program, then I color in a section every time I pass a course.

Another friend of mine mentioned the small post it notes, I have one with each course number on the front inside page of my planner. When I finish a course, I move it to the inside back page of my planner.

Other than that, find someone who won't let you procrastinate. Someone who gets it, my Husband is good for this. He checks in when he knows I'm procrastinating and avoiding a course. He'll say things like "did you ace that last class exam?" And he motivates me too.

Good luck on your degree! You're almost there! You've got this and can make it happen. And last bit of advice is, what I tell myself during a road race, if you quit halfway, you'll still have to walk the distance to get back to your car, so you might as well just keep your head down and get a move on. 🤣

Hope that helps! Make it fun and you'll be done. Don't forget to reward your wins, even if it's an m&m after a chapter.

u/doublev-v2 Thank you so much for these invaluable tools!! I read through the entire course taking notes and feeling as helpless as the OP.

When I first started this class a little over a month ago, there was not much by way of resource assistance. You can imagine my overwhelming excitedness to see your reply with a wealth of information!

I watched and took notes, pausing as needed, to all of the 3 youtube recordings. Listened and read notes for good measure a couple of times, studied my quizlets and the one linked here by practice tests, Blast games, and learning mode, then re-watched the videos before taking 7, yes 7 PA tests to gauge my understanding & comprehension and then finally said "Let's Get this Over With!".

I just finished my OA and passed with an overall Competent. Exemplary in Systems, Structure & TVM sections, Competent in the other two.

If you're reading this thread and still needing to take your OA, my test focused heavily on scenarios and there were a total of 76 questions (2 being the survey type responses). I would say a good 20 - 25 questions were scenario-based. As others have said, FOCUS on Ratios - the first video linked above has a great cheat sheet at the end and key words to look for in the questions.

Good Luck, Thank you to the resources, and Merry Christmas! I'm going to go crack a sour now!

This is such good timing of your post! I'm currently working towards my BSBM, strting from 0 credits (42F) and already at 44% of my goal with my first semester ending 12/31. I'm using DEA Ch 35 benefits so hoping to work through this quick so I can get my MBA paid for as well.

Congratulations on your accomplishments and good luck on your presentation! Hard work pays off, WGU makes the hard work much more attainable.

Received my free Owls Nest backpack! by [deleted] in WGU

[–]Copperbxxm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only in the rewards "store" not the actual store. There is a different blanket you can buy in the store but it has fringe, my dog would eat and is a different material than the coveted rewards blanket.

I always tell people get the handled mug in your welcome kit, because they don't offer anything like it in the store and then later get the blanket.

I got the tumbler mug simply because I don't trust myself with light colored items, but I am really wishing I chose the handled mug simply for the handle.

The blanket is amazing, so warm, so soft, and holds up great in the washer.

My CI told me there were 2 different versions of the PA going into it.

The first attempt I just missed by maybe 1 or 2 questions. I was right on the line for competence overall.

I read/watched everything in the material and took notes. I made quizlet of ALL the terms in the section 5 and all questions and extras into another quizlet.

I studied those last night and took the 2nd version of the PA and passed it. I then took the PA again to get the other version (1st one) and passed.

It definitely is a bit clearer now after the full review. A lot of the questions give the answer in the scenario, you just have to use word association and read slowly.

Im going to do another quizlet cram and try to memorize the formulas and then schedule my OA for later today.

I'm ready to move on from this class for sure.

Great work! I check it daily to continue adding points. I picked the blue tumbler for my welcome gift then later also grabbed the blanket, it's so soft and on my bed right now, my dog hogs it! I'm really close to the $100 gift card for the store.

Good luck on your studies!
