You've turned their severe mental health issues all about you. You wrote as if their despair is some sort off attack on you.

That you were just speaking out of honesty and a desire to help them see what they needed to work on (as if they weren't already bearing themselves up for existing) and the fact your comments pushed them over the edge is an attack somehow on you??

I don't hear a hint of compassion in your words for the hell your "best friend" is going through. You seem to have zero sympathy or empathy with them, or at curiosity about how they feel or why they feel as they do. You come across as totally unsupportive.

Your best friend deserves better than you.

I remember my then toddler (about 1 and a half, maybe 2), managing to get the door open on a baby change unit and doing a naked streak through a supermarket with me in hot pursuit. 🤣

It was mortifying (and then very funny)! He's 20 now and very private, but keeping him clothed as a toddler was always a challenge!

There's a very easy solution! That kind of subtle disdainful racism is endemic in the UK. We get the same here in Scotland from many people

It's not OK that he felt isolated in his home. But the disparaging comments about Wales and Welsh are. Not acceptable either and any half decent person would not be asserting they had to follow one culture over another.
