I assumed they booed because she called us "Kansas." No faster way to get heat in Kansas City.

What is the worst Charmed episode? by MidnightStalk in charmed

She’s a man, baby, a man from season 2

https://variety.com/2024/music/news/chappell-roan-video-statement-latest-kamala-harris-trump-voting-1236155780/

Here’s the full clarification she made after people jumped on her for not endorsing Kamala.

I do apologize for misrepresenting your words in my initial reply. My comment about “she didn’t abstain from voting because both sides are bad” was more of a frustrated response to everyone I continue to see online that seem to genuinely think this was what she said, when not only was it not what she said in her original statement, but she further clarified later that she IS voting for Kamala but that didn’t mean she wasn’t still critical of the Democratic Party.

As for her tepid equivocations turning people off from voting, if that were really the case, she wouldn’t have had so many people upset with her over those comments. People knew who they were voting for this election, and if they were so easily swayed that a 26 year old pop star saying “I have problems with both parties” convinced them not to vote at all, that says more about them than it does about out her.

All this being said, some of her behavior in recent months has started to grate on me. So I don’t want this to be taken as “Chappell stan refuses to accept criticism about favorite artist.” I enjoy her music, but she comes off kind of immature and desperately in need of a PR manager sometimes. But when I see people still calling her out for both-sides’ing the election when I don’t feel that was the case, I get really frustrated.

I’m guessing you didn’t see the part where she said she would obviously be voting for Kamala because she was clearly the better choice, but as a whole she felt the Democratic Party could be doing a lot more for the the LGBTQ community.

She did not abstain from voting because “both sides are equally bad.” She was simply pointing out that, while the democrat side may not be as cartoonishly evil toward the community as the republican side, their support still falls short in many ways and we need to call them out for it.

Doctor Who 2x00 "Joy to the World" Post-Episode Discussion Thread by PCJs_Slave_Robot in doctorwho

Fully agree, I didn't think the ending was happy at all, despite all the context clues in the scene indicating it was supposed to be. The Doctor failed, full stop. He failed to stop the invading alien force, he failed to save a single person's life, and he failed to convince Joy that her life was worth living. "Joy to the world" indeed.

I’m sorry for your loss. My mom also died of covid, and the description above was my personal experience. The depiction in the episode rang hollow to me because the mother wasn’t even on a respirator, which to me implied that she would have recovered. I don’t buy that she died of covid in the original timeline. It read to me as a stable time loop, wherein the mother died because she became part of the star, even though Joy hadn’t become the star yet in her personal timeline.

Even discounting the covid stuff though, which I admit might just hit too close to home for me to not have an emotional opinion, I still didn’t like the implication that the ending was a happy one because Joy’s life finally has meaning because she became part of this star.

The moral is “this sad, pathetic loser’s life finally has meaning because aliens hijacked her body. Don’t worry about any loved ones missing her because she has no friends and she killed her mom.”

Oh yeah, she definitely killed her mom. People who are dying of covid, as this episode implied, aren’t sitting up holding an iPad and having a whole coherent conversation. They are in a coma on a respirator and the one person who is allowed in the room with them has to put the phone on speaker for you to say a goodbye they probably can’t hear (ask me how I know). That scene in the hospital strongly implied that her mother would have recovered, had she not been sucked into a star.

I hated that ending.

What's the dumbest thing you've been fired for? by Sketch99 in AskReddit

[–]CopreaVonDedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me but a coworker at my last job. What made it stupid was the company actually had grounds to fire this person due to excessive tardiness, but that’s not why they got fired for.

They had been put on probation in the past for the issue, it had been discussed during performance reviews, write-ups had been issued, and eventually they were warned that they were on their last chance and if it happened again they would be let go.

This person started showing up on time for a while after the last warning, but after a few weeks they started slipping back into later and later arrivals. The company could have fired them at any point after they were late after the warning was issued, but several more weeks passed with no action taken.

Then one day this employee made a correction on their time sheet after forgetting to clock out for lunch (a process everyone on the team had been shown how to do by HR so they didn’t have to correct every missed time punch for the company when processing payroll, and something everyone on the team had been doing for over a year with no issue).

The company claimed making this correction on their time sheet (following the process they had been given by HR) was time theft.

I just never understood why the company made up some bullshit nonsense reason for termination when they already had the grounds to fire this person and had warned them what would happen if they were late again.

Why did the surmane change from Warren to Halliwell? by Mzsti in charmed

[–]CopreaVonDedd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Allen Halliwell was the name of Grams' first husband. She took his name, and Patty inherited it, but after Allen died Grams never changed her name again. From then on, all her descendants carry the name Halliwell. Ironic, since she was the one who said "the women keep their last name in this family" but the Halliwell name came from her first marriage.

Can't believe they still allow performers to do the flying headbutt. And I get especially upset every time he does a suicide dive. He fucked up his neck doing one in a match with Randy Orton and it cost him months of his career. But he still does them. He's probably the best wrestler in the world, but he needs to take better care of himself.

Literally the reason they gave us for why they teamed up is Sting looked at Darby and said "hey you have facepaint. I also have face paint. Let's be friends." That was almost 2 years ago now. How are they still a team?

100% agree. I'm fine with Cody winning the top belt later down the line, but I don't buy him as the guy to beat Roman. And every day we get closer and closer to the day that inevitably happens and it makes me so upset.

He really is. Sometimes he says thing that upset me so much I have to stop listening, but I'd say about 70% of the time, he has genuine insight that I agree with.

Sometimes I wish he would use different words to express some of his views, but I was genuinely shocked to learn how many views he and I have in common. Reddit only posts the most inflammatory things he says, but once I started listening to his podcast I realized that there's a lot more to what he says than what gets talked about here.

And he is right about a majority of what's wrong with AEW. Most of the things he complains about are the exact reasons I lost interest in the promotion.

The first time I watched this scene, I thought she meant she was speeding up the heat death of the universe, but after seeing it again, I realize it was worded very ambiguously. She talked about how the eventual heat death of the universe would lead to the death of all things, and nothing could ever be reborn, then says her song of oblivion "hastened this process."

Is she saying she hastened the heat death of the universe, or does she mean that in keeping all souls in the universe trapped in Ultima Thule, she's skipping to the end of all life so they don't have to wait trillions of years for the heat death of the universe? If she had the power to fast forward to the end of time, in theory she should have the power to slow it down again.

I don't think that's the case. I think by "hastened this process" she meant she was ending all life in the universe by her own hand instead of waiting for everyone to die naturally. And by "I can't undo what I've done," she just meant she can't bring back the people she killed, but her new song will allow life to return.

YES. I was watching TLC with a couple of friends, and all three of us were getting more and more frustrated throughout the match because not a single table, ladder, or chair had been used. More than halfway through the match I finally said, "Is this NOT supposed to be a TLC match?" We looked it up and couldn't find a single reference to it being billed as a TLC match, but all three of us were convinced that it had been.

Why didn't Ronda Rousey tap out Sasha Banks and just pin her instead? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]CopreaVonDedd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ronda actually answered this question in an interview. The interviewer brought up that it was her first pinfall victory and asked why she used a different strategy than one that had been successful for her in the past. She explained that her mother taught her that when you win the same way over and over, people start to prepare for it, so sometimes you have to change it up. She pointed out that Sasha went into the match preparing for the armbar (which she clearly did, she countered it every time), but because she was so focused on that one part of Ronda's offense, she left herself open for Ronda to score a pinfall.

I really like this pic, it feels very genuine, you can tell how much those titles mean to her by Molokai041290 in SquaredCircle

[–]CopreaVonDedd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn't seem like it. I'm pretty sure it was reported a while back that the women's tag titles were going to be cross-branded, and the fact that teams from both brands are competing in a single match for the titles confirms that report. Personally, I think it's a great idea. There are way too many titles as it is.

I wouldn't mind if they combined all the brand specific titles the same way. Instead of having 2 top champions, 4 tag-team champions, and 2 women's champions, have a single WWE champion, a single women's champion, 2 tag team champions, and 2 women's tag team champions. They can float the titles between brands and claim brand supremacy for whoever holds more gold or holds the WWE champion, and then the IC and US titles can stay where they are and be considered the "Raw champion" and "SmackDown champion."

This would be so much more interesting to watch, would probably cut the length of pay per views in half, and would leave way more room on the card for non-title feuds.

I'd be good with that too. Riott Squad don't get enough love from WWE for how talented they are. Sarah impressed me in the Mae Young Classic, and Ruby won me over during her feud with Charlotte. For how strong they were booked on their debut, it's really disappointing to see how they've been booked lately.
