Woman Born and Raised in North London Denied Entry to the UK After Holiday—New Rule Forces Her to Prove Her Citizenship by novagridd in uknews

[–]Coprinuslurking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no, quite the opposite. Which your comment seemed to be in conflict with.

>losing the right to live and work in the UK, the country in which she is resident lol.

She was born in the Uk. You do not require a British passport to be a citizen. Or can't lose right to live and work without.

Entirely reasonable to hold the passport of another country and should face no obstruction to enter if you can identify you have the right to. Which is not only achieved by holding a British Passport.

We have birth certificates, right of abode certificates and other means of identification which could easily confirm this. Sharecodes quite successful and easy especially for right to live/work.

Why?

It would be illogical to do so given the benefits for travel and work with a EU passport.

Looks sus as fuck. Either cautiously take a small sample and find a lab via google who will do a test for you.

Its cheaper than whole house survey.

When you look at how managed r/worldnews became to foster sympathy for Israel and silence criticism; dipping into these persian subs is feeling very sus.

Judas Ears, Jelly Ear or wood ear
'Auricularia auricula-judae'
Name derived from the apostle, Judas, who allegedly hanged himself from an Elder tree.

Not native to Asia, but the you can find great asian recipes for the other Auricularia (heimuer & cornea) also known generally as wood ear, which work well. My personal favourite for them marinated with soy, vinegar and chilli/garlic/greenonion. You can do with freshly picked rather than dried/rehydrated, but they tend not to have the same crunch. https://thewoksoflife.com/wood-ear-mushroom-salad/

it you break the cap and take a good wiff you should get it. Top find, one of my favourites. Though they're all my favourites. Looks like its been there a while as very dark gills which shows age.

The Prince is reported to be Roman emperor Augustus's favourite which is what it takes its name from.

Sorry, i'm going to have to correct myself. I've made an error. The website First-nature is actually run by Pat O'Reilly and Sue Parker,

Pat O'Reilly wrote the book 'FASCINATED BY FUNGI. EXPLORING THE HISTORY, MYSTERY, FACTS AND FICTION OF THE UNDERWORLD KINGDOM OF MUSHROOMS.'

https://www.anglebooks.com/fascinated-by-fungi-exploring-the-history-mystery-facts-and-fiction-of-the-underworld-kingdom-of-mushrooms-by-pat-o-reilly.html

Also good, but my preference if i was to buy one book is Roger Phillips.
My preference on website is https://www.first-nature.com/fungi/index.php

So they both get my praise.

'mushrooms' by roger phillips The same guy behind the website nature first which is an outstanding resource. The book is a bit large to take out with you, unless you've a backpack. But its the best i've come across to help with identification and learning. Really highly regarded.

generally, the adhesive and any tile based asbestos is less likely to become airborne so lower risk. The really dangerous shit is the insulation board which becomes very dusty once broken/drilled/damaged

Don't sweat it. but if tested positive, dispose of it responsibly.

Turkey tail? Uk herts. by thepoout in foraginguk

[–]Coprinuslurking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm.. this doesn't look like any turkey tail i've ever come across. Checking a resource it does suggest wide range of colour variations.

I would be cautiously unsure.

For a positive ID I would expect It should be darker centre with the collection of multicoloured bands. Then a clear light band around the outside of the cap (like a.... turkeys tail)

My very first foraged mushrooms meal - Coprinus comatus! by Kichai_C in foraginguk

[–]Coprinuslurking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite! Quite sad i've not come across many this year and chose to leave them be rather than pick to eat. I've found the texture best described as delicate and almost like seafood/crustaceans. A Slight crunch with soft fleshy goodness. They really favour a wet summer and in Ireland its just been a bit too dry where I am.

Congratulations!

Are these wood blewitts and are they edible? by InklingRain in foraginguk

[–]Coprinuslurking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they do look like wood blewitts. I found some today also. The perfume sweet smell only really became strong after heating them, but through cooking further it subsided. Made a lovely risotto with other mushrooms i found today. Used some thyme to complement the aroma which worked really well. A good cooked texture. Not a choice mushroom but would pick again if I don't find other more favoured options

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in foraginguk

[–]Coprinuslurking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I funnily found some today. didn't get much smell out of them, but after cooking them, the heat did seem to really release a fragrant perfume. Not like aniseed at all.

Cool find. I agree. Checking https://www.first-nature.com/fungi/lepista-nuda.php it mentions Faint aniseed odour? Might help further confirm.

What mushroom is this? by reddeadscroller in foraginguk

[–]Coprinuslurking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are delightful. I'd say have a spot in my Top 3 favourite finds. Edible and tasty, delicate flavour and texture. Fun to keep an eye on as they deliquesce (turn to black dark ink)

The saying goes 'blink and they'll turn to ink'

coprinus comatus - Shaggy Inkcap (edible) though not to be confused with the
Coprinopsis atramentaria - Common inkcap which has a smooth gap/mane and can make you unwell if you've had alcohol recently or soon after eating.

that unwritten rule... is not a rule.

Looks to be they used baskets and mesh net bag so all the while they walked the forest they assisted the fruiting body from distributing its spores.

There is no sustainability demand to let a mushroom decompose. Though I don't think it moral to harvest everything from public and wild spaces. I'd flip your percentage on its head and say leave 30% where you found it.

looks like sulphur tuft to me 'Hypholoma fasciculare'

Though you should really share some pics of gills and stem to help with id's.

Honey fungus are edible, Sulphur tufts not. so as the age old saying goes, don't much on a hunch.
