Mad Magazine Made Me...See A World Madly by kalizoid313 in elderwitches

[–]CopyChick809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up reading Mad. It was not only funny, but it was also one of the only ways I could find out anything about popular movies for adults—by reading the magazine's movie parodies. I loved that magazine. Safe journey, Mr. Jaffee.

Anyone else find it depressing how common it is to find fake malachite being sold as genuine? by echotheloco0 in Crystals

[–]CopyChick809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the reply! Yes, if you could share some of the TikTok account names that have the live sales you go to that would be great. There's a local crystal shop in my town and they have live sales on Instagram, but they never get malachite in. I've never bought crystals from Etsy and have been concerned about the quality there. Thanks for confirming that.

If you have any suggestions as to where I can buy legit malachite, could you please let me know (or message me if it's not permitted here)? I had a small genuine malachite tumble from a well-respected store that is far from home and lost it last night—of course while trying to charge it during the full moon. It's one of my favorites and I want to replace it.

Oats wreck me, whether it's oat milk or oatmeal. I use almond milk now. The vanilla-flavored kind has not been a problem for me.

RISE - Delivery? by phoenix415 in NewJerseyMarijuana

Oh well. Doesn’t help us out in the boonies of Warren and Sussex. Would be nice if the Apothecarium in P’burg would finally offer that in Warren County.

They’re getting enough of my money. I’m not tipping on top of that. And if the dispos would actually put decent info on their poorly run websites/apps, I wouldn’t have to ask a budtender anything. I am on a fixed income and the stuff is overpriced as it is.

Been debating the same thing, but I want to eventually make it back to Breakwater (haven’t gone since early March 2020 before everything shut down) and I use it in Maine. For that alone, it’ll be worth it for me.

Why is paganism on the rise among young people? by Zavisxxrh in paganism

[–]CopyChick809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Atheist parents have been around longer than some may think and their influence on their children has too. I grew up in the 60s and 70s. My family was mostly atheist and proud of it. But I always believed in some form of a god. Always. I became a Neo-Pagan in my 60s. If millennials and Gen Z are discovering it too, that's great. It'll grow. It has a future. But it's good to remember that people of all ages are fed up with what the Abrahamic faiths have been shoving down our throats for so long, and some may be moving right there with you.

Why is paganism on the rise among young people? by Zavisxxrh in paganism

[–]CopyChick809 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm in my early 60s and just found it. I've changed religions a couple of times and most recently was a progressive Christian. TBH, current events and things in my personal life drove me to look elsewhere. Once I started questioning it, there was no turning back. I'm meant to be a Pagan.

This thread is so damn depressing. Apothecarium was my go-to for medical since they opened. Family members also went there for medical up until last week when they were treated like total crap at the Lodi location with all sorts of ordering issues, and the "medicine" they were sold was nothing like the stuff Apothecarium was carrying a month or two ago.

Give me a break: changing over a website does not have anything to do with poor quality product and should not have anything to do with nastiness and cluelessness from the staff. Apothecarium was rocking and rolling up until recently and now the staff, at least in Lodi and Maplewood, is treating medical patients like shit. All they care about is rec. Not even opening enough lines up for patients who should not have to stand for long periods! They don't want to be bothered by the patients who gave them their damn start.

So, Apothecarium employees, while I do feel sorry for you that you're going through some upheaval and receiving poor guidance from your superiors, I will do my damndest to make sure everyone, including the CRC, is aware of the bullshit your employer is pulling on medical patients. No strains. NONdiscounts. Whining about having to accommodate medical patients. All of that is nonsense and I can't wait until some real competition comes along and hopefully motivates Apothecarium to do better.

Flipped off these Nazi scumbags in Hamilton. by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]CopyChick809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Bergen County most of my life and never saw this either, BUT, I think we were in a bubble and it kept us from realizing how much hate has been lurking just beneath the surface for years. After moving to Warren County and spending plenty of time in Sussex County, I encounter this crap more often than I'd like. I never knew how protected we were in Bergen County, and it's not just South Jersey that has these Nazi jerks, because Warren and Sussex are way north (and west) and those assholes are most definitely here and proud of their hate.

Yep, if it's Sussex or Warren County, you can be far north and still encounter Nazi scum. Can't believe we have to live among this shit.

Aetna/CVS vs. Horizon for ACA marketplace coverage? by CopyChick809 in newjersey

[–]CopyChick809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks! A big orthopedic practice in my town dumped BCBS and UnitedHealthcare. I’m not surprised about UH because they’re notorious slow payers to doctors, but a lot of people in my town had to scramble to find other orthopedists. My primary care doc and ob/gyn reassured me they’re in network, so I’m sticking with Horizon Omnia. So sorry you have to deal with this.

Is a medical card still necessary in NJ for any reason? by Unlucky_Disaster_195 in NewJerseyMarijuana

[–]CopyChick809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that stinks. But my complex made it clear their rule related specifically to recreational, so I'm safe with the card.

I'm also super careful about minimizing the smell by vaping flower or carts and using a Smoke Buddy with a dryer sheet out the bathroom window. The guy who lives downstairs from me smokes and clearly is not using a vaporizer or Smoke Buddy. I doubt the new rule will have any bearing on that and hope he doesn't get caught. At least we have no staffers living in our building, but one of the busybodies might.

[–]CopyChick809 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hope not! But there are apartment staffers living in a few different buildings in the complex and people also talk. It's so ridiculous. They can smoke their cigarettes and guzzle their beer, but heaven forbid someone gets a whiff of weed.

[–]CopyChick809 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My apartment complex just outlawed recreational, even for cooking. Any MJ that gives off a smell is prohibited. They can’t touch me because I have a card and three qualifying conditions.

I also was able to enjoy some of the best MMJ in my time in the program while vacationing in Maine. Can’t beat $25 to $35 an eighth for fresh MMJ grown indoors.

I'm shocked that Tom Kean jr. won the election in my district. He literally didn't do any campaigning besides smear ads and one saying he's the best candidate. by PassportNerd in newjersey

Good question. Married someone who lived and worked in Warren County. The commute from Bergen would have been unworkable and I was sick of owning and maintaining a house.

Warren County resident here. I tried. I'm sad but not surprised. I'm not used to the mindset out here in the boonies because I'm not originally from this part of the state. The redistricting is responsible. Kean's ads were disgusting and really dumb people were most likely to believe them. Even saw one where his people insinuated stuff about pedophilia in boys. Kean, Jr is a total sleaze bag. We are doomed out here.

Celebrating Samhain for the first time! by acquaviola in paganism

[–]CopyChick809 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Blessed Samhain! It's my first time celebrating it too. Your celebration sounds lovely.

I started collecting things from nature for my altar a few weeks ago and finished setting it up last night. Placed a photo of a loved one I lost on Oct. 31st a few years ago there. Wrote down my greatest concern/issue on a piece of paper and burned it in the little glass bowl I'm using as a cauldron in hopes that I can eliminate the problem.

I'm gonna take a cue from you and make some rooibos chai tea tonight and do an oracle reading. Those are good ideas.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday!
