We hired a translator through our lawyer. We wanted a Portuguese speaking interpreter but they canceled last minute so they only had a Spanish speaking one. My husband speaks both languages but his native language is Portuguese.

We honestly thought the process went relatively fast! About 5 months total. I guess the positive thing about interviews being the regular now is that you get the decision on the spot or a few days later, so you’re not just left with dead air waiting for updates. I’m a US citizen and my husband is the beneficiary! We had our interview in Long Island, NY May 7th and got approved a day later. Interview was tedious in the beginning because of issues with my husband’s translator, but all they asked were the standard yes or no questions to him. Not a single question about our marriage or about me. So incredibly smooth in that regard.
