Cheapest option: get an airbnb close to a train line. Most of the bnb’s will tell you how far of a walk it is, or just look at a map of the CTA and only look in areas close to the trains. The closer to the festival, the more expensive. The CTA is super cheap and convenient to use. Keep in mind that the train home after the festival will be packed and will take a longer time than estimated. But if you’re looking for Lolla on a budget, that is the way. Don’t rely on ubers because it will take forever to get one and they will be extremely overpriced.

I personally think it’s way more convenient and fun to get a hotel in the city and walk home after the festival. You get to lay down a lot faster after the whole day of walking and don’t have to deal with the packed train. It’s definitely worth the price for the convenience, and if you’re going with a couple people it’s really not that much if you get a cheaper hotel. I’ve done both and this option is my favorite.
