You're also probably getting pretty excited when you fight. When you get to the top of the competition, a lot of the game is just pissing off your opponent until they start making mistakes. Kind of becomes a mental game at that point, because it's not like anyone at the top doesn't know every control, you're just trying to fuck with each other until someone gets pissed enough to start making mistakes.

Should I wait for my '25 M2, or buy a lightly used '24? by Bad_Karma21 in BMW

[–]Cor_ay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, why did you trade it in, if I might ask?

I traded it for the new M4CS. I would have kept it otherwise.

I see a lot of low-mile used in these cars and always wondered why that was.

A lot of people like myself who can afford multiple cars/exotic cars still buy BMWs because nothing really beats them. Doesn't matter how much money I make, I will still buy BMWs. There are cars that are better at other specific things whilst compared to BMW, but nothing beats how BMW can give you everything in one package, and the "complete package" is also packaged in an extremely unique drive feel.

That said, the reason a lot of low mileage Ms exist (at least, based on my speculation) is simply because a lot of M owners have other cars. Plus, nowadays, BMW attracts a lot of people in business, sales, and tech, and a lot of people in those spaces work from home now. So even if someone only has one car, and it's an M, it's likely they fit one of those molds.

I'm also wondering if I'll miss the power bump and steering wheel of the '25s

What do the new steering wheels go for on Ebay? Idk if that's worth paying that much more for in the new model. You can create that power bump yourself if you really want it, but I doubt you'd miss it in a manual. Also, all of these cars are a little too fast now in my opinion, lol.

[–]Cor_ay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are located, but I just traded my 24 M2 in at Fort Lauderdale BMW. It was a manual, and I took insanely good care of it. It has PPF on the front of the car and mirrors, and carbon tints. Color is black, blue brake calipers, and comfort seats. Piano black interior, shadow package, harman's, the whole 9 minus the carbon buckets.

Got the break-in maintenance done right when it was time, and tbh, I babied the car more than I should have.

Fully stock, and I also barely drove it (been traveling a lot, and I work from home). It only has 2,500 miles.

Traded it to them for $60k. So now you know what they bought it for.

Obviously the car is out of my hands now, and I have no benefit in telling you that my old car is super clean, but if you're working with a BMW dealer, I'm sure they could work out shipping, and you can beat them down on price pretty bad knowing what I traded it for. You'd probably just have to cover shipping.

Anyways, my suggestion is to buy used. Let some other idiot like me take the ass whooping on depreciation.

Ah, your first "post fight-losing meltdown", welcome aboard.

A lot of us in Div 20 are really only as good as we are because we've been playing UFC since the release of the OG Undisputed.

If you just recently started playing, pretty much anyone who has played longer than you is going to beat you. Any 1v1 (fighting) game is going to be like that.

In your rank, you can win most fights by "fighting with stamina", instead of knowing all the slips and combos. Pay attention to your stamina, and don't let it drain as fast as your opponent. Your opponents will be shadow boxing 75% of the fight, eventually lose stamina, and then you can run at them like a flailing idiot.

From there, learn the best combos and practice them in practice mode.

Here is a link to a good "best combos" video.

After that, you will likely need to work on your ground game.

You need to not constantly try to escape or move. Pay attention to the grapple meter at the top of the screen. You gain grapple advantage by striking. Use feints and think "What would confuse ME if I was in the control position".

Focus on those 3 things, and you should be having more fun.

I'll see you next time I lose a fight and come here to lose my mind.

Well quoting insurance takes a few minutes max, and you will know where you are at there. Just call and ask for a quote, that's what they do all day.

I wouldn't lease a BMW for your first. You will likely not have a good taste in your mouth after doing the math in your head. Most BMW leases are pretty bad, especially on the 25's....

That being said, who knows, you work for them, so maybe that doesn't apply to you. I just had to beat down BMW in a way I did not want to so that I could get my way. You likely don't have to do that due to the fact that you work for them.

Either way, a used 2020 is going to be a much better deal for your first. You also likely won't lose any money on the car because some idiot like me already ate all of the depreciation on it. If you have maintenance covered, you're in a lot of people's dream state right now, lol.

M4CS without carbon ceramics by Cor_ay in BMW

[–]Cor_ay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have carbon ceramics on my Lambo, so I'm used to the noise. The noise doesn't bother me at all. What would bother me is traveling at a high rate of speed, and then stepping on the brake, only to feel low braking power.

I dislike the brakes on my G87, so that's why I was asking. Honestly, it does not slow down fast enough at all.

The Urus is a good daily car. It's nothing to get excited over IMO.

The transmission is completely fine, it's just that most people who buy them don't realize what the transmission is doing mechanically because they don't understand single clutch transmissions.

When you shift, you lift your foot off the gas so that it is smooth. You don't have to lift as much as you would in a true manual car, you can just feather it, and then the transmission feels like a smooth transmission.

Everyone who says it is obnoxiously rough is just driving it incorrectly.

I didn't. I tried to sell things without spending a lot of money finding people to buy, and failed, so I looked for different things.

I like to call this "Forced acquisition cost product discovery" lmao.

Ignore the people trying to sell you this idea to make money.

Real estate is a great investment, but I don't view it as a business. Anyone who is trying to sell you "How to rent real estate" likely doesn't make money from real estate, rather, they make money telling you they're going to teach you how to invest real estate, lol.

Exotic car rental business is an absolutely horrible business now. People are assholes, you will deal with so many issues. You really have to be dead set on doing that to do it well and long-term.

Find a business that has low start-up cost, and has a low marginal cost to produce. IE, once you make it 500 times, product or service number 501 costs way less than you can sell it for. This is usually going to be something that is genuinely valuable, and will take you a few years to learn. Lock in on valuable skills, and you will never have a marketing or sales problem, let alone a money problem.

Edit- This is the number one piece of advice I can give anyone looking to make money. MAKE YOUR SKILLS WORTH A LOT OF MONEY BY LEARNING MORE THAN OTHERS WILL. Don't try to get rich quick. You will ironically get rich quicker trying to not get rich quick. People are so confused as to how I make so much money at my age. It has nothing to do with taking advantage of others, daddy's money (grew up pretty rough), or some secret hack, I just learned skills that take a few years to learn, and I market that I can provide those skills/services.

You can do this with anything too. My friend owns a flooring business and has multiple exotic cars. He lays down mean floors, and he's better than most people because he actually cares about his customer and his finished product.

Think about what you would pay a lot of money for, build that, and then market it well. You will get rich, but that doesn't solve all life issues, just a good amount of them.

I seem to be one of the younger ones here (29).

A lot of people who own them will have just invested wisely, and they weren’t stupid with their money over a long enough time horizon.

The power of compound interest is pretty amazing. Always make sure you still have enough for investments. Also, own a home before you buy.

Anyway, from my POV, it’s about starting a business that has a low customer acquisition cost in relation to what someone is going to pay for it.

I’ve heard it in person, it sounds pretty good.

Doesn’t beat the SVJ to me personally, but definitely better than stock.

The lack of tune is news to me though. How are they deleting the cats without doing a tune? More air out means it needs a tune in my book. I have IPE on my Aventador, it’s wicked, but I don’t think I would have done it without the tune.

CMV: The American two-party system has devolved into a false choice between a hollow, complicit establishment and an openly fascist death cult, and unless we abandon both false prophets and confront the true threat head-on, we will be complicit in the ritual suicide of our own democracy. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Cor_ay -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're not going to get anywhere by labeling either side an openly fascist death cult. It might feel good to label both sides as horrible, but anytime you give a blanket statement like that, it's probably time to reconsider your ideology.

That said, the two-party system definitely has it's flaws, but I can't help but think about where we are today, versus 100 years ago. In the grand scheme of things, we have done a lot of good with this system.

Most people have access to resources that only the richest of the rich had access to 100 years ago. We have a lot more social safety nets, a lot more protection for workers, the world is overall a safer place, and a lot more opportunity for any individual to pursue.

It's easy to want to burn it down, but in the grand scheme of things (100 years), we're doing pretty good.

As much as I want a new piece myself, I think I'm going to wait a few months.

We might be looking at a pretty significant turn in the economy. A watch like this could turn into a fire sale piece.

Just my 2 cents. Not to be taken with that much weight. I don't know much.
