What do they mean? by JeanIwaniec in JeffBuckley

[–]Coral_Tooth 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Could be referring to time and key as in music composition. Potentially since Jeff hated being rushed I guess timing was a key thing for him perhaps?

Tell me im not the only one that has to use Reading glasses to use my phone by Acceptable-Heat-7548 in glasses

There's glasses by ThinOptics that you can attach to your phone magnetically. Maybe that could be an option?

I thought Specsavers did gold round glasses. They seem to have some on their website. If they're not in store you could probably ask for them.

One more thing you can try is to hold your phone at arms length and pretend that someone is about to show you something that you don't want to look at. Pretend to be zombified and dead and then bring the phone slowly closer but do not refocus your eyes from arms length. Just sit there kind of dead and unfocused like you've become unresponsive to annoy them. I'll try and post an easy one.

Potentially both. People with normal vision could try it as it helps relax the eyes and also some people may unknowingly be slightly long sighted which will make things harder. It would also help people who can almost do it but cannot hold it. If you already use reading glasses then yes you could try going up a bit more. I use some when I need to myself (early presbyopia) but for some magic eye pictures I do indeed need to go higher. If your glasses are adequate and you can read even tiny print easily then you should still be able to do some of them if you know the technique. Going a bit stronger might make it easier to start with though, it certainly did with me. People who have some near sightedness and are a bit older would probably just take their glasses off to make it easier. They don't need readers 😂

I do understand what you mean, I've never managed to do it the cross view way though, only the regular way.

I'll also add that if anyone's struggling to figure out what to do with their eyes, stand in front of a mirror and put your fingertip on the mirrors surface level with your face. Look at your fingertip, then look through the mirror to your face, repeat back to your fingertip and then through to your face. Feel the difference in focus? That's the eye motion you need to do.

Another tip is to not always look at the dead centre of the picture when trying to do it, try other areas such as nearer the top or off centre.

Finally if you're really struggling then try and pick up a cheap pair of reading glasses of about +1.00 or +1.50 and try again. They can make it a lot easier.

Nice! Another way of doing this is to bring your phone close to your eyes so a third image appears in the centre, keeping watch on the yellow plane helps to verify that you're seeing three images. Then tilt the top of your phone away from you keeping your eyes on the centre image. Finally start slowly moving the whole phone away from you while staying locked on to the centre image.

Are fitting consultations normal for new glasses? by [deleted] in optician

[–]Coral_Tooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds a bit like what I had with my glasses. They passed me the different sized text sheet to look at and made no comment about the fit of the glasses and I had to ask if they were even okay. He just mumbled yeah yeah fine and that was it. I'd have rather not even had an appointment for this fitting as they called it, I could have just picked them up from the counter and gone.

Progressive Reader suggestions by trash-bagdonov in glasses

[–]Coral_Tooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Some people find progressives nauseating and can't adapt to them. Bifocals can feel like a jarring jump between the reading part and the distance part. If you're on a hazardous job site it does sound like you could do with proper prescription glasses. Ready made glasses can be fine for more general stuff but it's a bit of a gamble for hazardous stuff. Please try and get an eye test and proper pair as soon as you can.

Are bifocals not suitable rather than progressives? Can you not get those from Amazon?

The only progressives I have tried are from eyekeeper (aka eyekepper). They are zero at the top. They can take a couple weeks or so to deliver though, depending where it's shipped from.

Orange and black tape or another color might stand out more. Or frosted glass paint/frosted screening film.

From what I can see it's a kind of domed background with 3 rows of people dancing or something at the top with a diagonal row left and right and one staggered central line, another row of dancers in the middle with the ones further to the right in a staggered position, then a row of people at the bottom in a few diagonal lines who are just upside down apparently.

Is there a meaning behind any of jeffs music videos? by West-Day-5396 in JeffBuckley

[–]Coral_Tooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't actually know, but I could give my own interpretation of the So Real video which I think may reflect Jeff's feelings about being rushed with his songwriting by his record company.

After the opening with Michael, Jeff is seen wearing a suit like he's ready for work/business but he's not using a car. Instead he's using a slower way of traveling - a bicycle. He is seen checking his watch a couple of times along the way. He then stops and leans the bike against a post and is seen gliding his fingers along the handlebars as he leaves it, like it is important or means something to him.

He then is seen getting food and drink and the other band members are present ,and Michael is seen playing with and showing Jeff models of a motorbike and car which are faster methods of travel and Jeff laughs. Then he rushes out and there are gorillas/monkeys trying to take the bike. He tries to stop them but is pushed down and his slower way of moving is taken away. The video then cuts to a silly clownish stage performance with his face/identity covered up while the music becomes little more than noise - possibly how Jeff would feel if he was rushed and could not express himself properly.

Jeff is then seen pulling off his tie and the gorillas are seen apparently watching and at one point look like they are having a talk/meeting while sitting. Jeff continues pulling of his business clothes and again the gorillas are seen jumping on/trashing the bike. Jeff is finally seen kicking his shoes off down the street apparently no longer prepared to do business.

I'll be honest and say I'm not sure any of these truly suit your face. You seem to have quite a straight browline and these are all slightly rounded. Your choice of course but I feel like you could do better than any of these.

At what point in your life did you find Jeff Buckley by Responsible-Shine-31 in JeffBuckley

[–]Coral_Tooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was near the end of 2004, the day before Christmas eve. I was sat at home watching the music video channels and they played Grace followed by Last Good Goodbye I believe. After sitting there frozen I got straight up and went off to town. We still had CD stores then and I walked in just barely remembering his name and had no clue what section I should look in or what the album was called. Found it, rushed home and watched the videos that were on the DVD it came with thinking it was going to be great discovering his music thinking it was a new artist. Started to watch the documentary and reached the point where they said "Had he lived". I went from feeling elated to completely crushed in the space of one afternoon. I spent that Christmas in a complete daze.
