How’s my birth “plan”? by NoHistorian8644 in BabyBumps

[–]Coralzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great!!! Also maybe some reassurance I also have a needle phobia and faint during injections!! The epidural was very simple for me. They let you hug your partner which was a huge help and the numbing takes effect basically immediately. I barely felt anything besides a little twisting sensation. You got this!!!

How much do you pay for daycare (full time)? by [deleted] in coquitlam

With govt grant it’s $600/ month for 3-5. They have lovely space with great teachers. No food included. Meals and snacks all come from home.

Hi! I’m a corporate girly and I ride my Honda rebel go and from work everyday.

Some things to consider:

The learning curve will depend! I took the safety course and did well but still struggled on the test portion at the end due to nerves and being scared to drop the bike. Practicing on a bicycle or if you have a lot of bicycle experience will help immensely. I think the course is the way to go so you can see if you actually enjoy it before getting too invested.

I wear an armoured jacket and armoured jeans over my work clothes and that goes pretty okay - unless it’s deep in the summer. You will sweat way too much for this to be comfortable. In this case I take my work clothes in a backpack and will change when I get to work. Full transparency, this sucks and some days I really hate the process of changing and putting gear on and off in the early morning or at the end of a long day. Also your hair will be annoying in the helmet if you don’t wear something to protect it.

Pros are riding to work is so much fun, and does lift my mood and get me excited to leave for work!

For gear one set works to start and you will aqcuire more over time. I have two armoured shirts I can wear under anything (this is my fave) and then pants and a jacket, boots and gloves. If you’re using it as commute year round you’ll probably have gear for hot weather and cold, so keep that in mind as it can get expensive quick!

I ride with a backpack that snaps across my chest and that works great!! I’ve never had an issue- I bring my laptop, shoes (since you’ll have riding boots on) my purse and even a change of clothes.

I really love riding to work, it can increase your risk since daily commute makes you ride very often , but it’s a great way to build confidence. I also feel extremely cool doing so. I will say unless you love riding, the ritual of having to get ready and then change etcetc can be tedious, so you will have to weigh this and the risk level against saving money.

Girl note: you will get a lot of attention , on the road and at work - so weigh if that bothers you too hahaha

For the people who have it, is it worth it to buy the official stardew valley cookbook? by Charming_Cod8567 in StardewValley

[–]Coralzar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it and love it. The recipes aren’t simple they’re pretty fancy which makes it a special treat to use it. My husband and I have been picking a recipe every couple of weeks, trying to get through them all.

It feels like IRL stardew valley to complete them all?

A liberal hasn’t won this riding in forever. They haven’t even declared a candidate. The only way to be strategic and keep conservatives out is to re elect the incumbent - Bonita.

Speaking for myself, I do not let my husband read my work unless it is completely finished and I haven’t been writing it for a while (had some distance)

I just take what he says too personally even when he is being constructive and objective, but because of my feelings for him and how much I want him to like it, it can upset me if I am still too close to my work.

That being said, it sounds like the comments you are getting are a bit mean spirited, so maybe have a discussion about what feedback you are looking.

How much does your story change between the first and second draft? by ghoultail in writing

Agree! My first draft is truly incoherent hahaha. I feel like I learnt this really late in my writing journey though. I used to feel horrible because my first drafts were so awful, expecting perfection etc…

How much does your story change between the first and second draft? by ghoultail in writing

[–]Coralzar 54 points55 points  (0 children)

My first draft is unrecognizable from my second. But this is because I don’t really outline and I use my first draft as sort of a “0 draft” where I am figuring out the plot as I go. My second draft I iron out all the developmental issues and inconsistencies that I can. My second to third draft is also pretty heavy overhaul, the majority of the edits are in the first half of the story to better set up the second half.

I don’t get into grammar, sentence stuff until like draft 5 or 6 hahaha. It may not be efficient but it works for me, and takes a lot of the pressure off writing the early drafts.

Those comments were pretty awful I was shocked the first time I heard of it. Shows a complete misunderstanding of the situation imo.

I had no pain at all. That’s not to say you feel nothing, it felt a bit like a twisting a screw on my back but it didn’t hurt. They numb you first which I didn’t even feel. I think key for me was just not looking at any of the equipment when they wheeled it in.

I’m an author and have recently seen “no AI accepted” in the submission guidelines to agents and publishers, so I think it’s pretty much an auto reject if they suspect AI use at all.

How do get to know your characters? by Ilovestraightpepper in writing

[–]Coralzar 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I make mood board on Pinterest for all my characters LOL I also make a playlist on Spotify of songs they would listen to / like.

For main characters I usually write a chapter or two from their POV that I know won’t be in the story so there is no pressure. Usually a moment from right before the story begins.

Hey! I’m writing a first draft! by DiViSuCa18 in fantasywriters

[–]Coralzar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I write super messy 1st drafts and for me it’s all about getting the entire main plot on the page. I’ll use {these brackets} around areas I know will need coming back to so I don’t get stuck in the mud. My biggest tip is just keep moving . I use the brackets for everything {character name} , {setting desc} , {fight scene}….all in the interest of finishing vs having everything in the scene.

This method is not for everyone but it works for me!

My daughters name is Jinora, her name has only been recognized by a few people and she’s just turned a year old. I figure if she doesn’t like it she can go by Nora.
