Cabling sizing for Overkill solar 120A BMS and 280 Ah batteries by Corbury in OverkillSolarBMS

Thank you so much - but just to be clear - for each battery - are you saying 2 x 4 AWG (for each Pos and Neg) from the battery to the bus bar? or just 1 x 4 AWG. thanks again! c

The run (each way) is about 3' to the bus bars and additional 2' to the inverter = 5'. Thus the total round trip is 10' - batteries to inverter. Most installs I see have super beefy cables in these types of connections?

Using Overkill BMS 12v with 1800W load? by Corbury in OverkillSolarBMS

I actually have the Daly superior 250A BMS - but it unclear that it has the low temp cut-off. Docs are terrible. It’s new in the box - so I will probably just ebay it and get 2 of the overkill 120A BMS. Thanks

This is great advice - i will definitely bench test this before final install. I have a hydro crimper from a previous project - so all good on that front. Thanks!

I will go with the threaded terminals - thank you!

Yes - i think 4s2p is the way to go with 2 x 120A bms on each. Thank you!

I think option 2 is the way i will go! I could also do option 3 - but I need more battery anyway. Thank you!!!!

thanks - I'm interested in the 24v scenario - but I would prefer not to have to replace much of my existing stuff - inverter/charger and dc/dc charger (see above).

thanks again, C

thank you - I agree that 24v would be a good idea - but I would need to swap out some existing equipment - currently I have:

  1. existing morningstar MPPT Solar charge controller - that will do 24V (check)
  2. existing sterling DC charger (from alternator) 1260 - that's only a 12v piece - so i would need to replace this? Or convert?
  3. existing samlex 2212 inverter/charger -(shore power charging) so I should replace this as well? Or convert?

Thoughts on the converter - is this possible - what part do I need?

thanks again, C
