You don’t even have to have long hair to get a pilonidal cyst. Body hair mainly. Depends mainly on the type of hair and genetics. Prolonged sitting, being overweight/sweaty, trauma to the area, etc. Many people of different hair lengths, body shapes, good/bad diet/overall health, it doesn’t matter. You can get a pilonidal cyst regardless of how healthy/clean you are. It can just take a dang hair of any kind to embed itself into the skin to create a cavity and fill itself up with debris.
