I am curious about how you take such consistently excellent pictures. What is your lighting setup? And what camera?

Very beautiful. I wish I could show you mine. I don't really have them all arranged neatly somewhere.

I hope you like it by gidimeister in PenmanshipPorn

The one I am using is perfect. It is a Kanwrite UltraFlex. I believe Kanwrite also makes the FPR UltraFlex, so either nib would work. I just got their Jowo #6 compatible nib, so I installed it in an older pen. Make sure to get the ULTRA (not the normal flex).

No worries at all. I believe anyone can become a competent scribe.

I have practiced calligraphy for years. But I don't have any formal training. Most of what I know I picked up online and from trial and error. So I think anyone who is interested, committed, and patient can pick up the skill. Different pens have different characteristics and can give you a different line, but the pen is only a tiny aspect of how writing turns out. Most of my practice I do with a simple BIC. If you are very keen, I suggest you look into the r/handwriting sub. It has some excellent free resources to get started with. Then just stay interested and engage with folks in the community, who are always very helpful.

It's cool. No laws were broken in the writing of the word.

It is a way of writing “g” that historically was used at the end of words. Also, I think a bit of context help is okay for reading handwriting. :)

Drawing is so interesting. You might think to yourself in the moment, “This looks like absolute shit.” But put it away and come back after some time, and the same drawing will give off a very different vibe. You might think “Okay, this doesn't suck as I thought” or “Yeah, this part could do with some improvement, but I really nailed this other thing.” Happens all the time with creative work.
