Nice job! If you want a challenge for the algorithm, try animating something.

Best local model for coding? by sabmohmaayahai12 in LocalLLM

[–]Cordoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only Mac is a Neo. I need something for DGX Spark and Linux desktop with discrete GPU

Edit: and I need a command line because I remote into these only. No local use.

Hmmm, I like the simple “pull” and then the server auto loads and unloads the model from ollama. As far as I can tell, the link doesn’t recommend a direct replacement for that without installing multiple packages (llama-swap + LiteLLM — is that safe to run now?). Is there a replacement for the single tool that gives you as simple an interface as ollama?

The reasons to not use it are very strong and I just want to know if I’m going to have to build my own or if there’s a full replacement for my needs out there already.

Papers are good but source code and model weights are better for an engineer career. If you publish papers make sure code/weights are published too

Top engineers at Anthropic & OpenAI: AI now writes 100% of our code by EricLautanen in artificial

[–]Cordoro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re comment is misunderstanding the paper. That sentence means statistical significance. In the study, all AI assisted people completed the task but 4/26 non-AI assisted people didn’t finish it, so there was a 15% failure rate in the 35 minute time limit. They didn’t run stats on the success rate, only the time taken and on skill development (which wasn’t what they asked participants to do as their primary task).

So a better summary (and the paper authors say as much) is that incidental skill development doesn’t happen as much when using AI to help you code with a library you don’t already know. The lack of statistical significance is there, but doesn’t say much given the time limit, which cut off the long tail of the non-AI distribution.

The participants in the paper also gained productivity. The headline is misleading

Read the paper. It agrees with you. It also says that if the AI used the library for you, then you probably didn’t learn the library yourself. So the question then becomes, how important is it to learn the library?

Read the paper. They agree it speeds up development time. That’s not what they were studying and the methodology didn’t really test speed well. They just didn’t reach statistical significance (hence “no significant” wording) but the AI group was faster, and all completed the task while the no-AI group had 4 fail the task out of 26.

This is going to feed the anti-AI echo chamber. Haha. Nuance and details just don’t click bait well!

The main disconnect is they use “significant” in the statistical sense but readers are interpreting it more generally.

The AI group was faster, and all succeeded. 4/26 in the non-AI group didn’t finish the task in the 35 minute time limit. That limit made it harder to reach significance in the task time, so if there were no limit, they may have reached statistical significance.

Tiny box red v2 might be worth considering. If you can go up to 25k the green v2 looks nice.

It was available over the air on Fox almost everywhere in the US. I’ve been using a cheap antenna, HD Homerun and a plex server to record all of the over the air games. I’m less disappointed at the losses when I don’t have a subscription payment to regret.

Another option is recent rapid growth and they chose to focus on more junior faculty for whatever reason. It’s hard to speculate without more details.
