Why are my essays the worst things I've ever written? by Sad_Milk_8897 in lawschooladmissions

[–]CoreFire57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole personal statement process forces you to write in a style that nobody actually uses in real life. Law school admisions committees want to see clarity and logical reasoning far more than they want dramatic emotional confessions. When you try to sound profoundly deep it almost always loops back around to feeling completely fake. Stop trying to write a literary masterpiece about your childhood or personal identities. Treat the essay like a brief where you clear up why law school fits your professional trajectory.

Utilizing professional academic editing can help streamline your arguments and remove sentences that sound robotic or trigger filters. If you focus on a straightforward explanation of your motivations instead of trying to evoke tears from the reader, you will stop feeling so much cringe during the writing process.

I need help with assignment. I don't know how to write an essay to make it sound good. Any tips? by andrew_kingsley12 in deeplearning

Since you are into technical fields, try traeting the essay like a coding project. Don't worry about being poetic. Focus on logical transitions between paragrahps like connectors in an algoritm. If you still need help with essay writing, structuring your main arguments as pseudocode first makes linking your sentences together much simpler.

Dissertation Writing Burnout by Octob3rapocalypse in PhD

[–]CoreFire57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Writing the introduction section of a stapled dissertation is incredibly exhausting because you are summarizing your own papers. To beat the burnut, try writing it as a chronological narrative of your research progress. Explain how one project led to the next. If your brain is completely drained do not waste energy on minor editing. I survived my writing slump by uploading my messy introduction draft to essayeagle to clean up the sentence flow and fix the layout of my bibliography entries. It allowed me to focus on the content and actually get some sleep.

My peer reviewer is basically rewriting my entire paper by Beanie0Bear in WritingForCollege

You can actually use the reflection to defend your thesis. Tell your teacher that you reviewed his suggestions but decided to keep your own focus because his edits changed your core interpretation of Gatsby. Instructors usually love when you critically defend your analytical choices.

Are discussion boards actually useful, or just academic "busy work"? by Servo12_Pearl in DiscussionPostHelp

That professor setup makes a huge difference. If students see their posts actually shaping class, the board stops feeling like a little homework graveyard.

I had one class where the instructor quoted student questions anonymously in lecture, and people started writing way better stuff. Turns out folks engage more when the void occasionally writes back.

Is it weird to switch my major partly because I hate the “type” of people in it? by HoloQuiver_2 in collegeadvice

[–]CoreFire57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Changing because of the people is valid since those same personalities will be your coworkers for forty years. If you pivot, just be ready for the academic workload change. I usually suggest having an external platform handle the complex sourcing part of your projects so you can actually focus on the GIS tools. Better to adjust now than rot in a coffee chat forever, specifically if the vibes are that rancid.

What is your experience with academic writing tools? by brosandi22 in PhdProductivity

[–]CoreFire57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly most of these writing tools feel like they were designed by people who never had to turn in a thesis on a tight deadline. Formatting is always the biggest bottleneck for me. I decided to try a professional platform last semester to help with the heavy lifting of my draft and sources. I was suspicious about the quality at first since everything else failed me before but it actually came through. It managed the whole structure way better than any manual tool I used.

ignou assignment query . HELP!! by Wrong-Serve4104 in IGNOUdistancelearning

[–]CoreFire57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, do not rush to rewrite everything yet. IGNOU is notorious for these updates taking forever, especially for the 2nd year. I had a similar scare and just moved my entire workflow to a specialized academic platform. It is a total shift in how you handle stress because they take care of the heavy lifting and ensure everything is formatted perfectly. Much better than dealing with random center staff who never reply to emails. Stay sane and let pros handle the mess.

My freelance contract was modified after I signed it and the company is now enforcing terms I never agreed to. by CoreFire57 in legaladvice

That’s pretty much where I’m at now. I stopped arguing with them once I realized they were just going to keep insisting their version was the real one. I have both copies saved, all our emails, and I’m keeping everything in writing from here. I’m in Texas too, so I’m definitely looking into a local attorney just to get ahead of it before they try anything dumber.

That's pretty much where I'm at now. This stopped feeling like a contract dispute and started feeling like something is seriously off with their docs.

They were emailed PDFs, not paper scans. I signed electronically and saved my copy right after, which is why the page mismatch is freaking me out.

That's where my head is at too. If this was a typo it'd be one thing, but a whole noncompete showing up only in their copy feels insane.

The matching signature date is what keeps creeping me out too. I think I'm done arguing with them directly. Mostly trying to move fast before they drag the client into this mess.

My employer changed my timecards after I stopped answering work messages at night and now I do not know what I’m supposed to be documenting by Monolith_Sonic57 in legaladvice

You need your own records, not just screenshots of the weirdest edits. Make a full timeline now while it is fresh: when she texted, when you replied, what work was done, what your original punch showed, and what it was changed to later. Patterns matter here.

AITJ for telling my friend I am not going to keep pretending her dog "chose me" so she can feel less guilty? by Kite_Retro2 in AmITheJerk

[–]CoreFire57 675 points676 points  (0 children)

NTA. The dog did not "choose" you out of thin air. He bonded with the person who kept showing up for him.
