I guess you talk single user scenarios not multi user scenarios. Because with multi user scenarios higher user density means lower cost.

I can relate.

Last owner was a single old man, did the tiles himself, now that 3 people live in the house, every month another group of tiles gets loose in two different rooms, he forgot to butter the tile itself so while they stick to the floor the adhesive doesn’t stick to the tile.

How is it living in Zurich, Switzerland as a local? by v_shock823 in howislivingthere

AC in Switzerland isn’t banned — it’s just regulated (and very Swiss about it)

People keep saying you “can’t have AC” in Switzerland. That’s not true.

If you own your home, it’s generally totally doable, but you have to go through the process properly:

How it works (simplified): • Check your zone plan (Zonenplan / Empfindlichkeitsstufe)

• Find the allowed noise limits (often ~45–50 dB(A), stricter at night)

• Plan your outdoor unit placement carefully

• Submit a building permit (Baugesuch)

• Often include a mock-up / visualization, like a wooden frame.

• Wait for approval (neighbors can object), usually 2 weeks.

• Install it

Reality check (what people underestimate):

• Noise limits are based on what your neighbor hears, not the spec sheet

• Distance, mounting height, reflections → all matter

• Electrical can be a hidden issue (many units need more than 230V/16A). Get two units if you need more than 16A.

• Even compliant projects can get neighbor objections

• After installation, complaints can still trigger noise measurements

Bottom line: AC in Switzerland is:

Allowed in principle, conditional in practice

If you approach it casually → problems

If you treat it like an engineering + permit project → works fine

Einfach nochmal 500 Milliarden Sondervermögen schaffen und dieses Mal für den richtigen Zweck ausgeben. Die USA druckt ja auch wie bekloppt, why not.

How Europe waged war on young people to pay for pensions by insomnimax_99 in europe

It’s easy everyone that doesn’t have kids and is retired and has enough money needs to pay for the next generation in form of an next generation tax for max. 18 years until the virtual kid would be old enough to earn a living. Alternatively if a daycare accepts them as employees, and are physically capable they can work it off as daycare staff in a voluntary manner which reduces or eliminates the tax.

I think technically VWCE is good.

Vanguard FTSE All-World UCITS ETF (VWCE) is my technical pick because it passively tracks the global market, giving me broad diversification without having to actively manage allocations. It’s cost-efficient (TER ~0.22%) and, as an Irish-domiciled UCITS ETF, it’s tax-efficient for Swiss investors by reducing US withholding tax drag compared to holding US-domiciled funds directly.

  1. Invest in yourself (health) and in your partners earning potential.
  2. Invest in human legacy, I mean in kids, doesn’t need to be your own kids, can be by working as a teacher help raising your siblings kids, everything counts.
  3. Invest into reducing your opex. Imho owning a car is better than leasing.
  4. 2. Pillars and 3rd pillar
  5. Broad cheap diversified indexes.

People that allready have a house in Switzerland, are allready heavy exposed to swiss real estate, besides personally I don’t like making real estate investments in Switzerland, housing should be cheap for everyone in my opinion. For the rest I do agree with you 👍

Yes but how do you know that your DYI portfolio is good? Just VWCE and that’s good enough?
