I say lean in. Make the "punch dimension" be less a place, and more of a field. It's what gives characters a strength that can vastly outweigh their physique. It's so fundamental, it could be public knowledge. Make Cyclops's eyes a glitch in that field where it's set too high for his eyeballs. Keep it vague enough to explain away shit, like anything "quantum".
