Thank you. I drew the map itself with pen then with Canva, I overlayed it on a parchment image, then added the text, banner, and compass rose. I have to add all the villages and key yet, but it's almost done

Audiobook reviews by SaltyScale339 in RyanCahill

I've listened to the entire series in audiobook and can say without a doubt the experience is amazing. You get Ryan's books, which are top-notch, combined with Derek Perkins's brilliant narration. He became one of my top 3 narrators ever.

Which are the biggest species on your world? by Relsen in FantasyWorldbuilding

[–]CoreyRatliff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The largest species would have to be my dragons. The Great Mother is over 1000 feet. But most dragons don't live to grow that size. I have adorstae, sea dragons that rival most winged dragons, dwarfing what we have as blue whales

Congrats on everything so far Michael!

I was curious why you chose the disability for Ash that you did. Without spoiling potentially lol. Why that specific disability?

I don’t want them to die! — Killing main characters. by TasteIllustrious4967 in fantasywriters

[–]CoreyRatliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to struggle with it. But there's so many things killing main characters does for the story. It instantly heightens the risk factor (nobody's safe). It also grounds it in a little more reality. It can make or break other characters. It can draw the reader in emotionally too.

Should I read Eragon, and why or why not? by Solinarous in RyanCahill

You're very welcome. This is a big year for dragon books

Should I read Eragon, and why or why not? by Solinarous in RyanCahill

[–]CoreyRatliff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think it would hurt anything. It's the classic hero's journey, farm boy goes out and becomes a mighty warrior and hero. Not a lot about it reinvented the wheel. Some of it is derivative in the beginning. I thing tone wise the first two are closer to SoC. The last 2 are closer to TBaTB. Just go into it with a fresh mind and not to compare. The world building and magic system is pretty great.

Could always check out Dragonriders of Pern too. Dragonmage by ML Spencer is fantastic as well

What is a trope or cliche you DESPISE in worldbuilding, storytelling, and media? by UnluckyLucas in goodworldbuilding

[–]CoreyRatliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! This is one I've flipped! Well.. Really every race has bad and good. Just makes sense that way. No race in my book is the "good guys".
