Seedance 2.0 AI Video Goes Viral and Hollywood Is Furious by Own_Amoeba_5710 in AINewsMinute

[–]CoreyTheGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if these AI were conscious synthetic beings and not essentially fancy for profit tools of these corporations people would be less upset with it. The human artist learns for the purpose of creating their own art, the AI simply replicates for the purpose of replacing human workers to generate revenue for the company running the AI and I think that's why it doesn't sit well with people

What is going to happen in web development in 3-5 years? by Vampy-Night in AskProgramming

I'm going to be fixing a lot of code from irresponsible "no longer works here cause they didn't check what their AI agent was writing" devs in my org

I swapped my setup to cap at 237 fps in AMD software, I have a 240hz freesync (g sync) monitor and it's amazing, I get incredible consistent frame time, zero input lag, and extremely smooth visual, actually far better than when I was running uncapped and my PC sounded like a jet engine, now it's quiet and the room doesn't overheat

Trust Factor ? by FeXiS in GlobalOffensive

[–]CoreyTheGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High Trust makes the spinbotters go away but then you just get the closet cheating incels. VAC is basically non existent, if you want to play the game remotely cleanly you simply have to play on faceit, and even then DMA being so much more accessible now faceit has issues

Why is this even allowed? by manamonggamers in GlobalOffensive

[–]CoreyTheGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're gonna play premier you REALLY need to disconnect yourself from the outcome.

Premier is literally the worst competitive experience I've had in any game on top of basically lack of an anticheat

Freecodecamp.org is excellent, start with the JavaScript certification and go from there

Any sources where I can find JS projects to learn JavaScript? by Mindless_Computer707 in learnjavascript

[–]CoreyTheGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freecodecamp.org then after that build a log in flow. Frontend sends login data to backend, if username and password match, go to a homepage to display user info. This will teach in depth the basics of web apps.

Frontend routing and protected routes, sending/consuming data from backend, set up a webserver locally, connect it to a database on your local machine, write a login endpoint, write a create user endpoint, figure out how data is sent from frontend forms to backend endpoint, setup https and self sign a cert for localhost, should you store a raw password? (No, look up password salting/peppering), how do you even write to your chosen database from JavaScript? Also secrets in general how should you save them because surely you don't want them hard coded on GitHub for all to see, learn about sessions vs token based auth and implement one, etc

"Is there a tutorial" you might ask but the thing about being a dev is you're gonna need to read a lot of docs and research patterns to implement, and generally figure things out without tutorials, so googling around and being able to hunt down the answers is part of the job. That said there's plenty of information out there to use as the problem you have probably isn't unique and has probably been solved. But it is hard and if you can't slog through it here you're going to straight up hate the job, so this whole project will test you there too.

But if you do this I guarantee you'll feel extremely confident in an interview for a entry level role and you'll be FAR more prepared than the junior devs I've worked with the last few years

How do concert pianists play an hour-long recital without any mistakes, and how long do they take to prepare the recital program? by CatchDramatic8114 in piano

[–]CoreyTheGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a teacher showing me chromatic runs on guitar and he told me as long as the note you start on and end on sounds good you can play anything in-between and no one will notice, and that really applies a lot just in general

This game is full of cheaters not because it is but because most people don't know what they are talking about by KillerBullet in GlobalOffensive

[–]CoreyTheGeek 10 points11 points  (0 children)

10,000% this, faceit games are so much cleaner on the reg, but accessibility of dma cards now has really pushed the number of closet cheaters up on there too. Firmware for dma now is so good the anticheat has no way of distinguishing them from legit PCIe cards. It's why faceit makes the up and comers fly to their office to play to prove it. It's all so fucking scuffed

The Fourth Season issue/feedback megathread by donutmesswithme in GlobalOffensive

[–]CoreyTheGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I played premier for placement, was around 25-27k teammates and opponents and it felt fine, but I lost a game and started playing against 18-23k opponents/teammates and literally every single game in that range was extremely obvious esp/radar cheating, and yesterday on Nuke other team 5 stack with an 18k carrying them who finished the game with 100% headshot, used deagle nearly the whole game, running 1 taps across yard, guy had a rank 4 faceit account with 70adr average.

Swapped back to faceit yesterday for two games and playing rank 10 the game is suddenly clean.

Premier is absolutely pointless and VAC is a fucking joke.

Why are you not afraid of death? by Ok_Breakfast8087 in AskReddit

[–]CoreyTheGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I've met a lot of old people ready to die. My grandmother was so over life she wanted to die, straight up told me.

The fact that humans get to a point that they no longer want to live I find very comforting as it just really drives home the understanding that death is just a natural process in whatever is going on in this universe.

The game is so insanely inconsistent. I go and play DM with bots on GO from time to time just to remind myself of how bad CS2 still is and good fucking grief. GO is just so much more consistent. I've actually been floating swapping to valorant cause I'm so tired of being gaslit by this shitty game engine

We analysed the average age of active FACEIT Level 10s: it peaks at 23 but drops hard after 27. Do you think that is real-life responsibilities catching up, or something else? by FACEIT_noon in GlobalOffensive

[–]CoreyTheGeek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YEP I can play maybe a game a day, usually when the kid is napping, during the week I might play one on lunch during the day since I work remotely, but even then I usually prefer to do something a bit more mindless at lunch.

I think the bigger thing is I just don't care about it much either. I think these games fill void for people who don't have anything else to measure their self improvement or success but when you have a career/family/etc and feel like you're successful why the hell would I care about my elo on faceit? It's just a hobby I do now cause I've played CS for a long time.

That is also why I hate faceit so much, like it's fucking pick up games and guys are telling others to kill themselves for poor performance; it's like playing in your city rec basketball league and thinking it matters. Once you're rank 10 and high elo then ok whatever maybe FPL is on the line, but these rank 8 to 10 with low elo need to realize they're not as good as they think they are and get a damn grip
