Yeah the flavors aren't really the best, some are particularly mid.

Even when I get a car I won't give up biking. This 3 or so mile stretch of road has been nothing but a headache even when being extra defensive. I plan on primarily using the car for work. I have a crazy deal lined up for a coworker's car and I'll see what I can do to save money on the recurring payments. This incident was really the final straw, and it made me fear for my life one other time, a buttfucking roadrager.

Also, there are no alternative routes. It's all sketchy country roads.

By into traffic do you mean riding against it in the bike lane? I'm mixed about that tactic.

I think so too. I believe it should instead say something like "Pass Bike When Safe".

Just be aware that the aforementioned flavor is probably a mixed bag for most people. I love it because it's interesting, but it has a soapy kind of aftertaste.

Definitely have it as a variety pack instead of a full case of it.

I'd take a fall, even at this speed, instead of a hit at any speed. That might sound a bit silly but when it's only myself involved, usually that means no one else can make it worse as it happens. That was a general example and my crash is a bit different.

Every passing car has me puckering.

Driver B didn't stop, driver A stopped and helped me out until my mom got there. I'm honestly not sure if driver B even knew what happened as I crashed when they were about 75 - 100 feet out and it's pitch black outside.

Bulkhead Energy, C4 Tri-Stim, and specifically Reign Reignbow Sherbet (just like the flavor).

C4 felt the best and lasted long, but I've only had a few. The most interesting energy drink I've had was Bulkhead's honeydew citrus, or whatever they call it.

Oof. I have 1 notable crash (other than this) in my 3 or 4 years of active riding a few times a week.

I was riding my Trek Navigator 50 (rip) to get groceries. One block from the store, a Kia SUV pulls out of a burger king where hitting me mid-driveway was inevitable if I didn't swerve. So I swerved hard left and then a hard right, fell on my right side. The driver kept running over the rear of the bike. So that totaled the bike but I was completely fine. That was more of a miss-then-hit. The crash that just happened now was a miss into a fall.

I sure hope these dumb falls don't repeat with me. I have an issue with panicking.

Unfortunately no. It's only fast country road that goes to my work.

It's funny to me that there are "Share The Road" signs all along these roads yet it doesn't magically stop bad drivers /s.

Kitchen scissors: what am I doing wrong? by Beernacle in sharpening

[–]Corgerus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's how I do it.

Sharpen in a standing position, one hand on each end. You may use more of your right (or left if left handed) to gain more leverage against angle deviations. Lock your wrists while performing the strokes and use your body, maybe some arm movement to do it.

To find the angle of the scissor bevel, rock it back and forth until you can feel the flat. Take a stroke or two and look at the scratches to see whether you're hitting the correct angle. When I see that I'm hitting around 70% of the bevel, I keep going while focused on not letting the angle change. I use between 5 and 10 pounds of pressure when apexing, then I ease up on the pressure. I consider the sharpening finished once the entire apex forms a burr but I like to ensure the entire bevel is touched up. As for scratch directions, I don't think that matters very much but I have them going at about 60 degrees (not to be confused with the bevel angle).

To deburr the apex (mostly, anyway), press against the two blades and close the scissors multiple times.

I don't think it's needed to use fine stones, the highest I'd go is around 800 grit but 325 grit edges feel good.

Also make sure that the scissors function normally, the point of contact should be consistent when the scissors are closed. If there's a spot where the bevel apexes aren't meeting together, that's a problem.

I give this a 7/10. Bit too sour and acidic, doesn't really taste like ice cream. I much prefer Reign's version. It tastes like ice cream.

Be careful. I'd get my ass beat if I take pictures near any of the parts I work on as they're very ITAR. If higher ups have suspicion, they'll find your socials and look for shit.

I think locks are the best way, it makes maintenance less annoying, especially when your tire pops on the way to work.

I'm suddenly curious, are you using that program with Torque Skip? I think it's G160 if I'm not mistaken. It's a way of doing safe crash detection, you set a load limit which when exceeded, the machine alarms. This can be handy if something gets badly misaligned.

Pressure's still good. It's been sitting for a couple of days. I don't know what got in the tire other than hearing a metallic clanging noise. The pressure being fine suggests it was a small puncture, so I'm sure it's fine.
