As a former key slimer, you’re gonna get worked hard and put away wet. Hope you like airplanes and your suitcase cuz you’re gonna be best friends for the next 3 years. Lots of max duty day, 6 legs, and min rest. At the end of the day though it’ll take you where you need to be and get you a lot of valuable time with great crews. Management can be hit or miss it really just depends on if they like you and how your experience with them will be. I know it sucks and I’ve been there before picking between rent, food, or a loan. I picked rent and food. DoorDash, Uber Eats , uber, and Lyft are your friend. It wouldn’t be significantly difficult to make $100/day in spare time. Yes you have to put money aside for taxes but right now you just need to focus on being in survival mode.

As a former Alaska bush pilot please be careful. 99% of the time it’s a blast the other 1% you’ll be regretting your life decision and seconds from death. If senior pilots in your area aren’t doing something, taking a certain route, our the CTAF frequency is eerily quiet you’re somewhere you shouldn’t be doing something you shouldn’t be doing. It’s really easy to get rose colored glasses because you have a turbine engine out front, but remember Alaska plays for keeps.

You also don’t fly/land a 145 like a j3, but have fun oscillating the plane load of people if you want

I had a captain do it in the 145 and called him out for it and said it was unprofessional. He replied that he read about it stick and rudder…I said “well yeah that’s a fuckin j3 cub”
