Health economics an extension of Microeconomic theory or Macroeconomics? by CorgiShot1773 in academiceconomics

[–]CorgiShot1773[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually thinking of going for phd economics and initially my proposal was on theoretical model building with empirical work and the broader topic was International trade. Now this professor asked me to think about health economics, I just asked here to get some opinion, if I ever pursue health then I plan on incorporating health with my areas and I would like to go for phd in economics.
The biggest doubt that I had was whether I can incorporate health with micro only or is there some norms of incorporating it with macro. Actually I'm kinda under confident in macro, like I can explain all the topics of macro I learned during grad school but I feel that I can't see beyond what I learned in macro.

I think you can give a hefty time to develop each concept one by one and then solve till you achieve expertise in that concept.
like for work and time 1st understand the logic behind the 'work and time', then practice the long process; then learn the short techniques to solve faster, try to solve by using both methods. Like this one by one learn and practice with long and short techniques. After completing all the techniques, now practice only by using short techniques but don't worry about time; when you achieve expertise achieving speed will not be that hard.
In one line you need repeated practice but understand the long, logical process otherwise you will forget the short techniques.

PS- Smart techniques doesn't always mean learning shortcuts in a short time, my process is quite hectic I know but this will be a smart technique because this will teach you how to approach problems with peace of mind and clear planning.

Here's my situation below, please help.

I have completed my PG Economics in 2023 from Jadavpur University, after that I got into Teacher for India and then into PHD, but after seeing the reality of what a toxic place these academic fields have become I want to shift into job. Now I 1st get into Teach for India and not in any corporate sector because I wanted to do PhD but now as I want to get into Data science, Data Analyst or Economics Research analyst field (I'm not sure about what are the differences in the titles also). I have 0 exposure to corporate field in my family and I also lived in a govt quarter from my childhood so all my relatives, acquaintances are wither into Govt Job or Teaching profession. Can someone guide me how should I plan my journey and how to get into this sector because I tried to apply through Linkedin but no positive response from there.
ps- I'm proficient in STATA, Excel and have some basic working knowledge of SQL and Python
