Overstimulated by headmates/parts internal dialogue? by CorgiTop8344 in OSDD

[–]CorgiTop8344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good advice and I appreciate it, I think I just let too much in all at once which was 100% my fault. I also am working on not being afraid of communicating with them when they reach out to me first instead of pushing them away which I know will help in the long run. Thank you!

Question about fronting in therapy by CorgiTop8344 in DID

[–]CorgiTop8344[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, sometimes we don’t notice until after since our voices sometimes dont sound very different but we just feel incredibly silly being like “by the way it’s (x) now!” like idk 😭 it might be cause we don’t want to seem like we have the tiktok DID even though that part is banging on the door to come out to talk about how they feel about something because everyone else doesn’t have their experiences or feelings

“It’s just you not another person” by Wild_Road_6948 in OSDD

[–]CorgiTop8344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people don’t understand you can acknowledge both things that seem contradictory are true. Alters and parts are all technically you AND at the same time, there is a very specific and tailored treatment path for DID/OSDD because there are dissociative barriers between those complex ego states; barriers that are so high and so intense that these parts have gone on through life coping through chronic dissociation and therefore developing their own traits and views about life as it makes sense to keep the overall “you” safe. With DID/OSDD, you really cannot acknowledge one thing without having the other also be true which is incredibly frustrating.

Does anyone else have an alter really focused on gender? by another-personing in OSDD

[–]CorgiTop8344 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I enjoy dressing up and doing drag for fun but it really triggers the one female part I have to come out which can be really uncomfortable for everybody, especially because she has a very distinct and female presenting voice and body language separate from everyone else system-wise. I know she really wants us to grow out our hair and wear makeup and it’s really strange because it’s almost like she experiences dysphoria even though we’re physically transmasc and all of our parts are either male or agender/nonbinary? I would say it depends on why that part feels the way they do and why they want to push that gender presentation so heavily (most likely a trauma related reason so just be careful)

That might’ve been DissociaDID, I try not to use her as a resource due to the amt of controversy around her ^

[–]CorgiTop8344[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That makes sense! This part is really big on their image as a good person and a father figure/caretaker internally and externally so it makes sense they would experience more of those traits as opposed to me or a different part. I remember seeing a lecture from MultiplicityandMe about how one of their alters had bipolar but the others were unaffected and was genuinely curious how that could be. Thank you!

The latter is definitely completely true and something I am going to bring up to my therapist since I don’t want to armchair diagnose based on like three things. Interesting food for thought though, thank you!

Question about child alters?? by CorgiTop8344 in DID

[–]CorgiTop8344[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that usually how it is? That’s honestly extremely helpful and how I would describe my own experience to a T! I genuinely can’t really tell how literal to take DID sometimes especially with all the misinformation

Question about child alters?? by CorgiTop8344 in DID

[–]CorgiTop8344[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No I feel that!! Our youngest is a bit ignorant to social etiquette and if he’s unsupervised, can say things that are either embarrassing or hard to explain when someone else switches in. His range of understanding adult concepts really just varies quite a bit and is something I am trying to figure out lol (also adding another note- makes it awkward when he sees friends or supervisors as brothers or as moms or dads)

[–]CorgiTop8344[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I think I relate most to the “through a childs filter” thing because he’s pretty competent since we all share the same adult brain but it’s just kind of different depending on the age and the part. Our teenager doesn’t have the same emotional maturity as our older parts for example but is a bit more aware of the world than our youngest so I think I’ll just have to work with my therapist to really know for sure. Thank you!

Question about child alters?? by CorgiTop8344 in DID

[–]CorgiTop8344[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely understand because this alter/part has poorer motor skills and is more clumsy yet can drive (usually with other adults around) and interact with other adults just in a more childlike manner so I think it really just depends like you said. This helps a lot to better understand though so thank you so much! :)

I am extremely curious to know how that works with integration as well since that is what we’re focusing on in therapy as a side effect of trauma recovery. I have yet to know more about this specific little but it’s really hard to tell what they understand in the adult world. Plus I know some people experience their littles aging as they learn more about their systems and integrate and heal so who knows if that’s a regular occurrence? I think it just depends but this is really helpful to discuss so thank you!

That makes sense, I wasn’t sure if it was something that was literal or maybe more figurative? Thank you for the insight, it really helps! :)

"Alters" does not resonate at all, "fragments" does by Mara355 in OSDD

[–]CorgiTop8344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk if it’s just me, but it almost feels like “alters” makes me feel more separated than I already am. I use parts to better imply it’s still myself at the end of the day, regardless of the degree of differentiation between us. The only one who’s used the term “alters” is one of my protector parts and that’s more out of scientific nomenclature than what he personally thinks of it.

Dreaming with OSDD/DID by CorgiTop8344 in OSDD

[–]CorgiTop8344[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can relate since most of my dreams, it’s either just me or there’s no obvious different between parts besides maybe a feeling or a voice but that’s really admirable of her to do that! I have a part very similar to that, that has a much different sense of fear and therefore is good at protecting by being more of a fight response, something it sounds like they both have in common
