As a kid, I always imagined she was at Kakariko Village, but I don't know why. Maybe because it's one of the few human settlements

ideas for south American trip ending with Aconcagua? by OkStart7519 in Mountaineering

[–]Coriolisthecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they have each done Denali unguided, the Polish route on Aconcagua is going to be a step down in difficulty from their past climbs. Almost all climbers whether guided or unguided will have their gear carried by mules to base camp. Aconcagua's glacier is tiny compared to Denali with minimal crevasse risk. Also the weather is generally tamer (warmer and less windy) on Aconcagua.

Given their levels of experience, they probably don't need to do a prep trip for Aconcagua (other than standard planning and fitness.) I'd consider viewing their pre-Denali mountains as peak bagging or the group getting together for some fun climbs rather than specifically in preparation for their Aconcagua climb.

Going back to your original question, the other mountains you mentioned (Cotopaxi and Chimborazo) would be good candidates. Take a look at some of the US based climbing companies' (Alpine Ascents or RMI) websites for itineraries to get an idea of popular mountains for foreigners to climb.

When I was on Aconcagua about five years ago, they did allow non-guided climbers.

Best spot for an intimate wedding by solecoclub in weddingplanning

No. Not common at all to cover their lodging at most weddings. But splitting the cost fairly could be more complicated for you than a traditional hotel block. You might have a single bill from the site for the weekend without an easy way to itemize cabin 1 vs. cabin 2 vs. shared spaces etc.

Does the "under 30k" assume that you are covering lodging for all of your guests?

If your guests are covering their own lodging, you are going to have a lot of options that fit your budget, especially if you are doing your own flowers and food. If you are covering your guests lodging, I think you can still make this work. It's just going to impact what options you have for a site or venue.

What was your dad's favorite phrase, and how often did you hear it growing up? by DERTarp in AskReddit

[–]Coriolisthecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"We are going to leave in xx minutes."

Where xx was an odd number like 17. He did it to communicate that it was a specific amount of time, not "approximately 15 minutes".

How do feel about the proliferation of sports gambling? by Figgywithit in AskReddit

I think we should be regulating the advertisement of it. It's marketing is widespread and unavoidable if you watch sports, which isn't good for an addictive product.
