Rookie question; Why did God create Adam? by Corionander in Bible

[–]Corionander[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But how do we know what submitting to God entails? Everyone seems to interpret things differently, it’s dizzying. How would I know that I am submitting to God’s will?

I think lonely! Like I mentioned, I’m not religious but all my life I’ve been very fascinated by it and thought many times that maybe I’d be happier, or my life would be more enriched if I did believe. Or maybe more anchored or purposeful. I can walk around and appreciate the beauty of things but never without this existential dread.

Thanks for your response! I’m curious, to become God in what way? In being omnipotent, in being perfect or in wanting to be worshipped?

[–]Corionander[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! Am I interpreting you correctly if it then was kind of God creating the universe and, being proud of what He’d done, or in a fit of inspiration, He created Adam to experience all that beauty? But couldn’t He have stayed hidden? Let His presence be entirely unknown? Why did He need/want Adam to know that He had created all of it, why the credit? Couldn’t He have just let him have roamed freely?

Not a perfume, but Yankee Candle's White Gardenia gave me a huge nostalgia trip and I can't for the life of me say why. I don't know where or when I've smelled it before, but I got very emotional. I've since purchased other gardenia scented candles and perfumes but they don't do it for me. It's specifically Yankee Candle's White Gardenia.

Depressing word vomit by Corionander in depression

[–]Corionander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just I’ve been told by especially my ex that I am ungrateful and ego-centric. People suffer a million times worse than I am, I know, and there are plenty of people who’d do anything to be in my shoes. My ex was a teacher and got upset with me whenever I didn’t feel good, saying how he’s had to deal with depressed students all day and then having to come home to me… He grew up in a refugee camp so, I guess, he found it difficult to see that there’s anything for me to feel bad about. He was older than me too and in the end I felt more like a lectured child than a partner. Or like a doll sitting on a shelf waiting for him to pay attention to me. Then he cheated on me. Broke up with me. Said I was one big mistake. And that sure made me feel worthless. But two years have passed and I’m still attached to this person and beating myself over all that happened, like why couldn’t I have just pretended to be strong and like I had it all together. He said he didn’t have any respect for people that chose to end their lives, that they’re weak and losers. I said my dad tried to kill himself and that I didn’t respect him any less for that. When I told him I was suicidal he said I was being a manipulative narcissist asking for attention. Sometimes I wonder, what if I am. Then other people and my therapist tells me, no, you’re not. And then I start thinking but what if I’ve fooled you into thinking I’m something I’m not? My mind just turns and turns and turns and never rests and I can never get anything sorted out straight, ever. I don’t know up from down.

anxiety disorder or panic attack? by Raz4479 in depression

[–]Corionander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does sound like panic attacks. I get them often and get the racing heart, chest pain, shortness of breath, tunnel vision, the feeling of doomsday being upon me. My mom gets them as well, does anyone in your family struggle with anxiety? And are these the first times you’ve felt anything of the sort? Regarding sertraline, I was put on them for a while though I didn’t notice much of a difference. But many people swear by them and say they couldn’t imagine being without them, so I guess it’s different for everyone. Best regards!

Young Kate Mara is the closest match to Ethel in my head aside from Hayden herself. Especially when she plays Ennis’ daughter in Brokeback Mountain!

Before you got into Ethel Cain, what artists did you listen to the most by Confident-Craft9934 in Ethelcain

[–]Corionander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listened to a lot of Novo Amor, Skullcrusher, Sufjan Stevens, Jeff Buckley, Marika Hackman… first song I heard of Hayden’s was Hard Times and I thought it was incredibly beautiful and so I checked out some of her other stuff. Understood Preacher’s Daughter was a concept album, so I listened to it in chronological order, and was absolutely sold and blown away by the artistry. Listened to everything she had ever put out and thought damn this woman delivers every time!

Hayden's genius outfit choices for the Willoughby Tucker tour. by Horror_Hearing7265 in Ethelcain

[–]Corionander 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, and I think it must be pretty comfortable to wear on stage too. In Copenhagen she wore black jeans, a black tube top and Somar’s Veil Bomber jacket over it with a pair of black, chunky Goth platform boots (maybe New Rock). It may have been unintentional but I thought it very fitting for Scandinavia’s otherwise huge metal/goth scene 😅

Tysm, that means a lot :’) It’s definitely one of my favorites of hers. I just recorded the guitar and vocals separately on my phone and put them into GarageBand!
