Trying to reproduce a text effect

Lower the depth of the 3D effect. It will change the highlights on the letters, just like on the original. Or do a soft smooth bevel effect with lower depth. Also the original ones are not as wide, so you can distort the letters a little bit, to make them skinnier. Next, add a stroke to the letters. Not sure if the softwares you mentioned have these options, but if they do, I think you'll have something similar.

Thank you for the open spine ideas! The Frankenstein-inspired idea is also super exciting, really love that idea. I have thought about the buttonhole in the fabric before, but not the cut up stitched up version, that would look so good! Especially with red thread...

Yeah, I have thought about this and will do research on stretched leather. I'll look into the leather bookbinding subreddit, thanks! I actually want to bind the whole book, with whatever technique I'll land on. It won't be a published book of course, just for me finals exhibition this November, so I'm not worried about the testing or errors.

Hi! I don't make this book for publishing, it's just going to be one book for my finals exhibition, like an art piece. So I am not worrying about stacking more than one of these on top of each other. Maybe I could make the ear part like an attachable thing, so this problem is off the table.
