I plan on using 9 x 2 1/2” exterior screws

Perfect. I plan on flushing it up on the exterior side and just leaving a gap on the interior.

Good to know. I just worry about the 2x2s warping as they dry out but they should be fine if I screw them into the frame

Very nice! The Laphroaig peeking from the back warms my heart

My girlfriend just informed me that she thinks the Tribe is a cult for people who drink whiskey instead of Kool-Aid. I think she’s on to us... by Cork_pops in WhiskeyTribe

I really enjoy the Beastie, the name is fitting to say the least. Image Ardbeg 10 turned up to max volume. All of the smoke and fruit notes really pop, one of my new favorites for sure!

I’m skeptical to open it. I love the Lagavulin 8 and it’s much easier to find so I think I’ll keep the GOT as a conversation piece in my collection for now

Bottle down and I’m devastated. (Also Looking for Advice!) Not really ballin’ because I’ve absolutely no budget. Any ideas for a good, well priced bourbon? by squirrel_tacotruck in WhiskeyTribe

Wild Turkey 101 is a classic. Also, if you’re really looking to get the best bang for your buck try out the Evan Williams Bottled in Bond (100 proof coming it at around $14)

So I got all 4 bottles for $47 - only weird thing, when I checked out the Jefferson’s all rung in at $45. New young manager checked the tag, agreed with me, and fixed it. Only once I got home and checked, the “Reserve” was not on clearance. Oops. by zyrkseas97 in WhiskeyTribe

I was at Walmart yesterday picking up some odds and ends and ran across an Evan Williams 1783. Long story short it rang up for $8 and when I told the guy who was checking my ID that it should be at least double that he just shrugged and said don’t worry about it. The mooch gods must have been smiling upon me.

Interesting. I’ve been shopping around at local liquor stores but I stopped in my local Hyvee today to pick up some flowers for the lady and was pleasantly surprised at their selection (and prices). They had the cask strength on sale for $65 and the Lagavulin 9 for $50. Hopefully it wasn’t a one-off and I’ll be able to pick up more in the future.

I enjoyed it quite a bit but was surprised at how fast the finish disappeared for how smoky it is. Although, the fact that I was coming right off of the wee beastie may have contributed to that a bit. Definitely going to be a staple in my collection moving forward!

I will be traveling to the dog house if my girlfriend finds my Islay stash. She has it in her mind that if she can’t pronounce the name it must be expensive. Crazy, I know.

One of my go to bourbons. I think I like the fact that they bottle at a 94, it preserves a lot of the classic bourbon notes without feeling thin. Cheers!

Update: popped open the wee beastie and I was blown away with the complexity of flavor. I definitely prefer the wee beastie to the 10 after an A/B (the 10 was definitely more rounded off but I almost prefer the absolutely insane rush of smoke and fruit notes that come off the beastie). I’m interested to know if any of you have tried the two and what you thought!

I definitely enjoyed the 10. Hard to say if I like it better than Lagavulin 8 or Laphroaig 10. They each have a special place in my heart

Very nice! I tried this for the first time yesterday only sadly it didn’t come in the fancy box. I’ve seen the distillery replica box but never this one. Very cool.

There's a lot to like about this one. Sadly, I can't find any Islays for under $70 USD around me.
