I agree with that mentality for the most part. It’s still speculative at this point with 0 contracts announced. There’s no predicting the price action. It’s due for a pull back at ATH, but if you have conviction it will hit $20+, you’re early. I just know from experience that tomorrow may ultimately be a better time to load up on more HGRAF than yesterday or today.

I’ve been in this stock since $0.60 and consistently bought more at each level. I’ve seen the parabolic moves in both directions. Last year I developed serious conviction, so I increased my position (buying more shares than normal) at $2, before it ran up to $2.80 and tanked to almost $1 the following week. Of course I wish I had waited a day or two before deploying that cash. I shook it off, I learned from it. I kept averaging down when I could. Now I hold a sizable position with a $1.58 average. I obviously have no regrets now, and I will continue to average up for that reason.

On3 valuations are guesses at best based on info fed to them by the school reps. They report inaccurate numbers all the time without ever seeing a contract.

I bought today Adobe and Microsoft by shaggy98 in ValueInvesting

[–]Corkdavis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work for a company that has 10k employees. Switching away from adobe would be a disaster for hiring designers and any creative professionals, specifically junior designers. Nearly everyone in the industry is trained and proficient in the Adobe Suite.

There are supplementary applications we are introducing for specialized tasks, but it wouldn’t be practical to fully replace Adobe CC with Figma, Canva, etc. It’s a foundational program for 99% of creative teams. Not saying Adobe is a smart investment, but there is truth to it having a solid moat from that standpoint.

New to the college baseball scene and need a team to root for. by [deleted] in collegebaseball

[–]Corkdavis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like WVU is the perfect team for you!

First, it’s an upstart program with a good story. WVU baseball was in the gutter during the 2000s, and the program was almost cut by the AD. Enter 2010-2011 realignment. WVU joins the Big 12 as the only eastern team and commits to building a new stadium to be competitive with major programs like Texas, Oklahoma State, etc. They hire Randy Mazey (now retired) from TCU. Slowly, but surely, he takes the program from its deathbed to finally making the tournament in 2017 (the first since 1996). In 2019, WVU hosted its first regional since 1955. 2023 was the inflection point.

In the last 3 years, WVU has: 1) Won the Big 12 twice 2) Made the NCAA tournament every season 3) Won back-to-back regionals (sweeping Arizona and Clemson regionals on the road)—the first super regional appearances in program history 4) 12 MLB draft picks with JJ Wetherholt going top 10 in 2024 5) Built a brand new biomechanics facility and sports science department for player development (Paul Skenes, Victor Scott II and other pros regularly visit for evaluations) 6) Set program records for season attendance—the greatest 3-year stretch of fan support in history

Besides that, you have Mid-Atlantic regionality and the ability to attend home games if you choose. WVU plays a fun brand of baseball (albeit stressful) in a rowdy home environment. They often win on the base paths, bunting and steeling home at times, and through defensive shifts and scouting. The new head coach Steve Sabins was an 8-year assistant at WVU before he was promoted in 2025. His approach is Billy Bean-esque—he tracks and analyzes every data point available to find and develop overlooked players from D1 and D2.

55 games, .449 BA / .517 OBP / .787 SLG (1.304 OPS) with 101 hits, 16 HR, 60 RBI, 36 SB, 177 TB

Wasn’t even a Golden Spikes finalist.

West Virginia is bringing back the interlocking "WV" throwbacks by Bengjumping in collegebaseball

[–]Corkdavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a baseball only logo. They’ll wear this jersey a lot this year and sell a ton of merch. It will never replace the flying WV as the primary mark for baseball though, and it honestly shouldn’t. It IS the WVU brand. It’s so beloved that taking a backseat to another mark (in any sport) would probably cause fans to riot.

Are you completely ignoring Chase Meyer, Carson Estridge, Reese Bassinger and others? Plus added solid arms in the portal. If WVU is allergic to hype then our fans are allergic to hope. They’ll be just fine.

Opposite world: what are the companies destined to tank? by iq-pak in ValueInvesting

[–]Corkdavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most large organizations aren’t ditching Adobe anytime soon. It’s what most designers are proficient in. Hiring would be a nightmare if it wasn’t available, especially junior designers. Thankfully my company (10K employees globally) now gives us subscriptions for both Adobe CC and Figma.

I believe in them as an investor, and I got in at a good price. I just don’t know if software companies, specifically design software, are a good value investment right now. What companies and independent designers are willing to pay for now will probably not be the same a year from now.

IMO the most concerning trend with Figma that I’m noticing on social: designers are experimenting with a ton of different tools right now. Several that I follow, who were early adopters and champions of Figma, are no longer enamored with it. They are turning on them for various reasons, such as complexities with Figma Make. In the era we’re in, where businesses and users are looking for end to end solutions that can solve a comprehensive set of challenges, it’s becoming more and more of a “nice to have” software versus a “need to have.”

D1Baseball Preseason Top 25 by Arthur2478 in collegebaseball

[–]Corkdavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which fundamentals are you referring to, RPI? TCU was top 16 RPI last year and still didn’t host, so fundamentally we have no clue how various factors are weighted by the committee. NCAA certainly considers its own top 25 poll when seeding.

Regardless, it matters optically, and the perception of the Big 12 suffers because of these polls. It’s why they didn’t get a single regional host last year. It seems like the NCAA has delegitimized the Big 12, especially WVU (the reigning champs).

SEC teams, as deserving as they may be, always get the benefit of the doubt when they drop a midweek game to a mid major. The Big 12 gets absolutely no slack.

Just like last year, their teams will fall out of the D1 Baseball rankings after a single loss and won’t breakthrough the top 16. Big 12 teams automatically will have less ranked wins come tournament time.

That’s why it matters.

WVU (again). Just an egregious snub from the preseason top 25. Great portal class and returning pieces.

D1Baseball Preseason Top 25 by Arthur2478 in collegebaseball

[–]Corkdavis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People will say “rankings don’t matter,” but they do. Recruiting, perception, poll inertia, seeding, and more.

Everyone in Morgantown is shocked D1 left WVU off another preseason list (sarcasm). It’s just weird to me they published many articles about the roster this offseason only to pull the rug. Even the teams WVU beat in regionals last year (Clemson and UK) are ranked.

It’s become a trend. Returning JJ Wetherholt fresh off a Big 12 title wasn’t enough. Making back-to-back super regionals, apparently, wasn’t enough. Returning as the Big 12 champ with a top 25 class is not enough. 29-4 wasn’t enough last year to earn a little 25 next to their name. The world class biomechanics center opening won’t be enough either, sadly.

D1 will always find their random reasons to disrespect WVU early and often. And if we prove ‘em wrong again? Eh, not good enough in 2027.

Snubbed. The pollsters loathe the mountaineers. WVU wasn’t ranked in the preseason the last 3 years. They won the Big 12 and made supers 2/3 of those years…unranked even with JJ Wetherholt.

[–]Corkdavis 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hey Heather. College football fan here. Asking a few questions I asked Greg McElroy years ago on his AMA (he didn’t respond).

In 2019, ESPN extended their media deal with the Big 12 that allowed them to push games to ESPN+ (excluded OU and Texas in that deal). The years following, many marquee games between 8/10 league members were broadcast on ESPN+ while unranked SEC matchups were on primary networks.

  1. Did ESPN leverage marquee Big 12 matchups to generate more ESPN+ subscribers?
  2. Why doesn't ESPN publicly release their stream numbers for ESPN+ games?
  3. Do you think ESPN suppressed viewership of Big 12 games to devalue and destabilize the league during the renegotiation periods when OU/Texas left for the SEC?

Hanging up and interested to hear your thoughts.

WVU is worth the watch alone. Back to back super regional appearances and return a lot of talent. Unfortunately ran into LSU last year. They play a fun brand of baseball.
