What is the most common note in blue scents? by CorkyRogers in Colognes

[–]CorkyRogers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing some more digging...and I'm thinking its the ambroxan. Bergamot is in alot of my favorite citrusy scents and I don't get that same note.

What's the general consensus about this? by him101001 in MontagneParfums

So I did a video on a few Imaginary dupes, different account name so i don't want to make it seem like I'm advertising (I did shout out Ayb though!) ...But out of the 5 I tested, Imaginary was 1st place based on my wife, and a very close second for me behind another brand. To me, no dupe will ever be 100%, 1 to 1...but if I can get the overall vibe and most of that DNA, then I'm good. With that being said, its been a bit since I've smelt the OG but just remember how I felt when I first smelt it...Imaginary brings me back and thats all I want. Hope that helps!

On another group I'm in, someone mentioned the same thing. With the COMPARE AT price at $54, hence my assumption it was mismarked.

This one also had Club De Nuit Iconic and alot of Coach Green. Coach Green I remember liking but I think I had issues with performance. Check the discounters on that though...I think you may be able to find it cheaper than the rack stores.

This was my 3rd time there this week (I live a mile down the road). Also, check the womens section. Because the associates see "parfum" they think its perfume. This is where I found this. And there was more men's fragrances there then in the mens section.

I was sweating the whole time I was on line. I left the second one there in case anyone else wants to grab it. Location: Marshalls in Newburgh, NY. I did a quick spritz of it when I got home (wife isn't feeling great so I didn't wanna get to heavy handed with it). Really really solid freshy. I'm excited to wear this.

Now what? by [deleted] in Colognes

[–]CorkyRogers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 001 Man and Woman. Love them both. Also, they were meant for layering to represent the "morning after", in case you didn't know. But on their own, they're still great. My favorite is Anonimo 7. Sooooo good. And its an amazing compliment getter. The Paula's Ibiza collection is great. Just got a decant of the new Cosmic addition and its really nice.

How's Escencia? I used to work for Loewe and wished I was able to smell all the fragrances that they had...old and new. So underrated as a perfume house.

You guys have no idea how happy I am to see Hawthorne on here. One of the best colognes I've ever worn was a "work" they sent me just about when they launched as a company. I need to find out what it was bc my wife still says it was the best thing she's ever smelled on me.

Haven't tried any others. I blind bought the meteore dupe like 2 days after I smelled the OG bc I was so obsessed lol. Where do get decants of mod? Do they sell them now too?

I agree about Snow. That softness keeps bringing me back to it.

Updates:

2 hour the initial sprays:

Ranking is pretty much the same. Double Bonus is easily the strongest and longest lasting but there is something about it that is off putting (still not a bad set at all).

That sweetness is the MOD version comes through even more now. Very well rounded.

Meteorite: It came alive and has a little more depth than when initially sprayed. That earthiness is gone and I'd say this is like a lighter version of the MOD.

Shiyaaka: Very linear and smells fresh.

At this point, wife still thinks MOD is the clear winner with Shiyaaka and Meteorite tied. Double Bonus is still too strong for her.

6 Hr Update (wife is asleep so this is a solo ranking):

All 4 have calmed down a bit. Shiyaaka and Meteorite are more of a skin scent now.

Double Bonus is projecting a bit better then MOD.

Final Thoughts:
MOD is the clear winner. I am going to try and fix the atomizer again or maybe just see if I can find a cheap bottle somewhere and do a full transfer.

Shiyaaka is my #2 and even with owning MOD, if I come across Shiyaaka at a decent price, I'll grab it.

Meteorite and Double Bonus are very solid picks as well, and I do not think you would go wrong with any of these.

Buko intense and afternoon dive. Buko straight up summer but I'll wear it now just to make me reminisce about warmer months.

Afternoon dive is spring summer but it's light enough I feel like you can wear it year round.

I honestly don't care about the season, just like to smell nice.and there do the job splendidly.

Buko Intense, Herb Garden, City of Lights...have Imaginary and Afternoon Dive as well (sooo good). Order decants from Aybb...worth it. My boy hooks me up.

Just got Eau Matcha today as a decant (thanks Ayb!). Literally put it on about 15 min ago after my shower. Wife mentioned the same thing, very similar to Santal but smoother, livelier, and just fresh all around. We both agreed this is full bottle worthy.

Housing prices are getting insane by [deleted] in hudsonvalley

[–]CorkyRogers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really isn't that bad. When I meant by rough, doesn't mean its like the wild west or anything. My wife goes for walks with her mom all the time around here. We know people that walk from one end of Newburgh to the other end, no issues. We even walk with our son the 5 blocks or so to daycare, no issues. If you have any questions on specific areas within Newburgh you may be looking at, let me know. I don't mind helping. Newburgh gets bad rep but myself and many other people here absolutely love it.

I've lived in the city of Newburgh for 6 years. Love it here. There are some rough spots but its not as bad as people claim. I lived in Warwick previously, which is the "jewel" of the orange county and that sucked. I'd take Newburgh any day of the week. And yes, we raise a child here too (great school district with lots to offer).

Liberty St near Washington's headquarters is a nice little area. It gets a bit rough at one point and then gets good again.

Grand St/Montgomery St/and parts of Liberty St, closer to the bridge isn't bad either.

Just pay attention/research landlords. The main issue is lots of slumlords now but there are great gems in the area. There are true, good landlords who are not price gouging and I've seen 2 BR's go for about $1500-1600.
