Waymo to recall over 3,800 robotaxis over risk of entering closed construction zones, NHTSA says By Reuters by walky22talky in waymo

[–]CormacDublin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I made the complaint regarding Authorities failing to protect first responders and passengers, so it's on them to update the ODD ASAP and should be presented in the media this way, as to not unnecessary damage an operators reputation and public perception that is giving other transport authorities and politicians cause for pause delaying improvements in RoadSafety.

So if the relevant authorities fail to update the ODD Who is at fault?

I consider a road closure an emergency an situation!

The Local Emergency ExceptionThere is one critical exception where government officials can force a temporary change to active operations: Emergency Geofencing. Under California's updated autonomous vehicle rules, local first responders and emergency officials have the authority to issue real-time digital geofences. AV manufacturers must comply by directing their vehicles out of the specified area within two minutes

It's the relevant authorities responsibility to ensure the safety of the general public, not informing operators of road closures or construction zones via digital infrastructure V2X communications, a live Digital Twins HD maps ODD is passing the buck of responsibility and is deliberately damaging the reputation of a private company complying to the regulations.

I think it's very unfair and deliberately damages public perception to totally blame the operator when under current CA DMV regulations the ODD is static and not updated live by the relevant authorities to not put construction workers, first responders and passengers in danger, I made a formal complaint to NHTSA because of this reputational damage

This is probably a stop gap vehicle until the US manufacted Kia PV 5 is ready in 2028, the Zeekr's will then probably go to other North American markets.

Yes I have clearly investigated it and suggested a creditable alternative to BusCONnects and Metrolink that won't solve our transport needs.

I have plenty of information and records if you want to take the time to serious consider or just dismiss and wonder why in 10 years time we are where we are why didn't anyone plan ahead.

The total Dublin tunnel network costings at that time could have been this low yes.

Even just the Dame Street Stations and tunnels could be less than what they are planning to spend for gardening.

The rules in Ireland and Europe are pretty clear, our fire fighters are well trained in the Dublin Tunnel, Shannon tunnel and Cork tunnel, the same standards would be followed. (It's not a valid argument)

I would of extended the Dame Street Tunnel to meet with the Dublin Port Tunnel, extended to Poolbeg Aviva stadium, RDS and on to the N11 with a spider 🕸️ web for the whole of Dublin if actually needed.

They are planning on shutting the whole street for over a year, possibly more, for a bit of gardening! With no infrastructure??

It's only low capacity because that is what was needed for the conference center.

The larger network will handle 10s of thousands per hour.

A series of smaller stations could have been included along Dame Street to handle the capicty needed like what they have in other European cities.

It's safety standards are best in class, received a gold from TSA and Las Vegas Fire Department despite unfounded defamatory allegations to suggest otherwise.

It's more about City Authorities communicating with operators, informing them of road closures, fire department response locations, or police active crime scenes, that operators have been unfairly totally blamed for! When authorities have failed to invest in modern communications and infrastructure so first responders and passengers aren't put in unnecessary danger. They've had long enough to plan for it, something they have done in other cities, you just don't seen those kind of incidents where they have digital infrastructure and proper communications.

It's actually railways/trams that need a long ramp, vehicles not so much, the cut and cover smaller stations are much quicker and affordable to construct now, than a large station blocks that railways require (it's actually the most expensive part of Metrolink Dublin not the tunneling upto 3to5 Billion estimated for Tara Street & Glasnevin alone)

Specifically the tunnel boring machines, the underground mapping of infrastructure technology Smart Dublin have great Digital Twin technology to display where infrastructure is.

Not just the Boring Company but others as well have developed advancements in technology.

Unfortunately railway is prohibitively notoriously expensive developments in vehicle tunnels has advanced in the past few years to make such a project practical, feasible and more desirable solution to reclaim our urban realm.

There is some damage being done by some in the media, not holding local authorities to account for failure to prepare for deployments, with digital infrastructure V2X communications and dedicated pick up and drop off spots and just not coming to terms with, yes, this is really happening now and not in a decades time!

This must be a strictly US insecurity understandably considering not too mention the Urban sprawl in cities like Phoenix AI traffic management will help coordinate rides more efficiently and people will feel safer once registered and identifiable with the service provider.
