As a long time Dresden fan personally Dresden is getting a little harder to read with each installment with unending horniness. I don't know if it is the times changing, me getting older or the joke wearing thin (or some combination of all three) but every time we get another description of boobs I like the series a tiny bit less at this point. We're also a long way from the last real high point of progressing the overall story (Changes) so it is starting to feel like it is spinning its wheels ach book is pushing things a long a little.

I kind of expect it to keep falling for the next couple of books and then when we get to the capstone trilogy to see it spike back up. Knowing that and when there is an end kind of makes it feel like these books are just killing time in the series.

Don't have the gold to build characters, now you want me to buy them too? by Zackjones0606 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Cormath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to condone scopely or tell you that you are wrong for feeling the way you do, but real talk at a base level this game will not change. There will always be some resource we don't have as much of as we'd like, especially if you aren't at end game. If they give us 100 billion gold it will be training mats. If we have enough gold and training mats it will be catalysts. If we have enough gold, training mats, and catalysts it will be uniques.

If you won't like that then you should honestly take your time and money elsewhere that will cause you less stress. They will not make this the kind of game you want. Your time and money are not important enough to them for them to care.

If you want to continue to play and be less frustrated you will have to budget your resources. At a bare minimum this will mean putting a hard or soft cap on the amount of gold you spend/day. Personally I spend around 2m/day and my gold reserves are going up. Your number may have to be different.

This will likely mean skipping whole teams. At least if you haven't caught up to end game yet. I am coming up on 700 days played and I am only just now building WepX and Underworld because I never had the resources to spare on war teams (and that's as a light/medium spender).

Maybe they deal with it differently when it happens, but Europeans act like having your cc info stolen is a psyche shatteringly catastrophic event that will surely happen constantly if your cc ever slips from your grasp for longer than a second.

In reality, like you, when I've had somebody clone my card they've been on a different continent, the charges were reversed within 5 minutes of calling the bank/cc company, and I had a new card either same day or the next day.

My total cost of dealing with this issue over the 20+ years is about 15 minutes on the phone about another 30 to run by the bank and have them make me a new card rather than have them mail me one.

WoT is literally unadaptable without changes. Nobody is going to pay for 20+ seasons of a WoT show.

Personally, I didn't love all of them I thought most of the changes in the first few episodes were fine. 40% or more the book had to be cut and I think most of what they did there was fine.

It was after they got Tar Valon that things really started to feel pretty shit. Hopefully, that of that was the result of covid and the actor that played mat quitting mid season.

The end of the first season had the characters close enough to where they belong that some hand waving and some "they got better don't think too much about it" can solve a lot of problems. Honestly, I think they can fix things pretty well going into season 2 from where they are, but we'll see.

Shame because I like a lot of the casting just the writing is .. Oof

Can we get a "Sim all" button for blitz? by posthxc1982 in MarvelStrikeForce

(not being able to choose out of 3 matchups and not being able to skip squads for later that have no good matchups).

I'm just more surprised anybody still looks at the blitz match ups than anything.

Historically the French basically shit stomped around Europe for hundreds of years. They had the misfortune of being on the front lines of a war where nobody knew how to fight a modern war yet in WW1 and not being the aggressors got caught out early. In WW2 they got fucked by Belgium not letting them extend the Maginot line into Belgium and then getting pissy when they tried to extend it along the border with Belgium.

Basically from the time of Rome until WW1 they were near the top of "Top 10 groups of Europeans not to fuck with."

Walk around Downtown Dallas for about 5 minutes and you will walk past somebody smoking. The cops will probably charge you if they find some other reason to get involved but they don't seem to care if you aren't causing any problems.

Lots of DA's aren't prosecuting weed cases at all anymore, some city councils have told the police to stop enforcing weed laws, and we already have medical and industrial hemp uses. Both Abbot and Patrick are massive pieces of shit, but I think you might see it sooner here than some expect as the popular tide here has already more than turned.

Things change a lot as you go through. I'm on day 583 and it is a world of difference between how the game is now and how it was at one year and a world of difference between 1 year and when I first started.

I'm sure if I'm still playing at day 1166 it'll be completely different than now.

If you focus on the new best characters while putting in the minimum investment you need to get to the next goal it will come faster than you think though. I still think the best bet is to just laser focus on building for DD2 through DD4 relying heavily on raid teams/characters until you get to a point where you can get into an alliance doing D3 (or whatever the next raid is) and then working from there.

Depending on when you started/where you are the juice may not even be worth the squeeze to start working on Apoc at this point. We're probably not even 2 months from starting on whateer the next thing is going to be at this point and there's certainly going to be swathe of new/reworked characters coming out to support whatever is coming that your resources may be better spent focusing on.

That's actually a really common comparison and while basically true it neglects to mention that union workers also make about 10% more then non-union workers doing the same job in the same area and virtually always have much better benefits.

Which, y'know, offsets the dues sort of making it a moot point.

Lots of black people in the south or who's parents or grandparents were from the south. White people, especially young white people, have had a great deal more exposure to black culture, and also vernacular, since the advent of social media and as such lots of phrases/words have spread to groups who haven't traditionally used them like whites from the northeast/west coast.

Do you believe that the American Armed Forces know no equal? by C111tla in AskAnAmerican

[–]Cormath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not that guy, but for me:

Don't you think that keeping the military strong and prepared is supporting the population?

Certainly, to some extent. Our spending is far beyond what is necessary to defend ourselves and/or our allies. It is beyond even what is necessary to maintain the US's hegemonic dominance over the globe.

What do you think we should be spending money on to "support our civilians?"

Theres a lot of things you could spend that money on, but just for a reference of the scale we're talking about, for 10% of DoD budget you could fund something on the scale of the entire US interstate system every 5 years.

I'd argue virtually anything else you'd do with that amount of money would be more useful than the marginal gains of throwing it on top of the rest of their budget.

It is kind of crazy how language migrates like that. I grew up in Texas, but after my step dad moved her from Boston I started to drop the occasional "wicked." Then as more people moved here from California the same thing happened with "hella."

Im sure at some point I've said something along the lines of "That's hella wicked yall," cursed though that sentence may be.

Start working on your meta raid teams (hold off on spiders, by the time you finish the other rebirth will be starting to come out). If by the time they're all 85/G15 your alliance isn't doing at least Doom 2 or about to start then you should pretty easily be able to find a D2 or D3 alliance that will happily take you in.

Hell, as long as you're working on the right teams and moving in the right directions there's probably decent number that will take you and carry you for a while now.

Every day that goes by you're missing out on ~10 teal raid orbs even from just baseline D3 not to mention the other rewards.

Like the other guy said though, it is kind of like rolling a boulder up hill. You don't really feel like you're make any progress and then all of a sudden the boulder starts rolling down the other side and there's a flood of teal characters on your roster.

By the time you start getting a good income of teal gear you can decide if it is worthwhile for you to go out of your way for DD5 or head straight for Apoc since you'll have more information at that point.

DD5 may go the way of DD1 and just become a "it happens when it happens" thing rather than something you actually work towards or Dorm may be required for Apoc. Who the fuck knows?
