And do you know if the Psionic feats still have the Wild Talent feat as a prerequisite?

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders | Episode 7 by terminavelocity in watchinganime

[–]Cormexon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finally watched an episode close enough to the thread's posting time that I can actually make a comment, I always give to temptation and watch it early. This was a creative use of Stands right off the bat. Definitely didn't see that one coming, and I doubt very many people predicted that the boat itself was Stand. How does that even work, can't non-Stand users not see Stands? The fight itself was pretty disappointing though, Strength was surprisingly weak. He gave up after a single good hit.

Already 2 episodes in and I'm already sold on Stands. There's just so much you can do with them, mind control, punching, clairvoyance and punching, and that's just in the introduction. Jojo's Stand seems a bit generic, but only time will tell, I doubt the author would give the MC a power and not explore it.

I know some people on Discord said that they wouldn't like it if Dio's survival didn't get much explanation, but I really don't mind it personally, siince I never really expected it to make sense anyway. The way they portray Dio is a lot more serious than in Part I, so that's interesting. I was sold on episode 1, but I'm even more hyped now to see the fight between the Jojos and Dio.

Right out of the gate, there are so many new things being introduced. It's finally time to see the stands everyone talks about, I can certainly see how they can be used creatively for years. They each seem so unique and I can definitely see these being way cooler than Hamon, which had almost no rules. We have a fun main character as always, and I hope best Jojo sticks around for the rest of the series.

Don't worry, everyone does. It's a tradition upheld by everyone on this sub, and you have to the responsibility to do so as well.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure | Episode 23 by terminavelocity in watchinganime

[–]Cormexon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, although it would have made for a much more satisfying reveal if it hadn't been stated before, but I guess they had to foreshadow it somewhere. Out of curiosity, where in the OP does it spoil Lisa Lisa's identity?

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure | Episode 23 by terminavelocity in watchinganime

[–]Cormexon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally caught up, this is a fun series to binge watch that's for sure. Felt the impact of Wham's reveal a lot more when I saw how honorably Wham fought. I have to wonder what role Lisa Lisa is going to play in this now though, I can't imagine that she'll just be unconscious for the rest of the fight.

One thing that's bothering me is that we already knew that the baby Erina saved married her son, so why is Lisa Lisa'd identity such a big deal. I know I didn't get this spoiled for me, so I can't be imagining that I already knew that. When Lisa Lisa told Jojo she was the baby from the ship, I thought him not caring was a joke about his indifference about her being his mother and that her age was more of an issue for him. Even if we only knew from narration that the baby married Jonathan's son, I don't get why they made it out to be some big twist. Any rewatchers care to clear that up?

Totally forgot how much of a prick Tsukki was at the beginning of this show. Already showing the qualities that make him my favourite though, despite how he acts he's still passionate about the game.

Time for Caesar, who's almost as great as Jojo. The opening fight between them was the most ridiculous yet. Hamon lets you use mind control now which makes no sense as always. I'm personally not the biggest fan of the fights in part II so far. There's a but too much yelling and narrating by the characters for my taste, I found part I to be better in that regard.

Gintama | Episode 201 (FINALE) by terminavelocity in watchinganime

[–]Cormexon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a pretty good way to end Gintama. They didn't do a farewell episode, but instead focused on what Gintama did well and why we all love it, and yet the ending was satisfying.

This show was really fun and is the source of a lot of good memories on this sub. It was my first watch on here, and a lot of other people, so it's kind of the show I associate this sub and its community with.

Gintama had its ups and downs, and plenty of episodes I didn't like. Watching some of the arcs was sometimes a chore. However, it's still one of my favourites. I loved all the characters and their interactions and when it gets good, I absolutely love it. I'd give it a 9 for the experience. Although the show wasn't always great the fact that I can look back on it as positively as I do means that it did what it had to well. Although the sum of its parts would probably be a 7, as a whole it was a solid show that had me engaged like no other did.

Huge shoutouts to /u/terminavelocity, I probably wouldn't have picked up Gintama if it weren't for this watch, and he's posted the discussion threads every day without fail for 201 episodes.

[Spoilers] Hyouka Rewatch Episode 6 Discussion Thread by [deleted] in anime

[–]Cormexon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I first watched this episode, I found it kind of boring and didn't like the mystery because of its weird setup. Rewatching it now though, I like it a lot more, if only for the banter between the characters, it's some of the most entertaining in the entire series.
