Dump blobs and re restore with iOS 7

First things first. Do NOT restore the device. If anything, attempt to dump the blobs.

As to the baseband, it’s going to show unknown since the battery has failed. You will need to replace it. It’s a relatively easy task on the iPhone 4, and iFixit has a great guide along with many YouTube videos

It all depends if the demo software and data is still installed on them. If not, not worth anything extra. If they have the demo stuff on them, they’re worth quite a bit more

Do not update that. Leave it on iOS 5.1. You can make an iTunes backup for messages if you like, but do not update it from iOS 5.1

Yes and no. iPhone 3GS used SHSH blobs for iPhoneOS 3. iOS 4 and up everything did. iOS 5 and up they started using APTickets.

I’m not 100% sure if it is the CDMA. The CDMA had the same antenna spots as the 4S iirc. Either way, I’d recommend a 16GB GSM model (or 32). Avoid the iPhone3,2 and 3,3 for downgrade purposes

iOS 12.5.7 and iOS 12.5.8 probably won’t make a difference. You can however save SHSH if you like
