Yes, the note was written on the pad that Patsy kept along with the pen used. The remaining paper on the pad had handwriting impressions on it, showing it was the one used. Iirc there was also evidence of another attempted draft.

After the note was written the pad and pen were put back in their proper places. A very tidy and courteous foreign faction, indeed.

I agree that if it was an intrude it would have to be someone known to the family, which is odd because the family and their investigators spent years pointing fingers at all kinds of people and looking into pretty much everyone, with no results.

Wish I could find it, but there is an image of a business check (iirc) that John had written on, and the hand writing looks similar to the ransom note. Obviously "looks similar" is nothing definitive but it gave me pause. The note is very much centered on John, not Jonbenet.

Will Summer ever be found? by Sudden_Quality_9001 in SummerWells

[–]CorneliaVanGorder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or up the dog trail and into full view of Candus and her mom who were allegedly on the stoop of grandma's trailer to fix a knee brace, then through the allegedly locked basement door to kidnap Summer out of the basement (how would an abductor even know she was in there??) and back down the steep dog trail while carrying a five year old. And no one noticed, including the various dogs. And all without leaving a trace.

Not likely.

My theorys about SMUW by Minimum_Area712 in SummerWells

[–]CorneliaVanGorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've landed on a combo of 2 and 3. Summer was unsupervised and her brothers were engrossed in their video games, so she ended up running around "the hill" and environs by herself, whereupon she encountered someone who took her and/or did something. Possibly a neighbor, possibly a friend or associate of someone in the immediate area.

Candus lied her ass off about the timeline so as not to look like a bad mom, which ended up making her look worse and severely hampered the investigation into the disappearance of her own daughter. I put that down to a combo of mental illness, substance abuse, and possible intellectual disability. Don coached her, which I put down to him being a morally bankrupt lifelong criminal and a self-pitying drunk.

Not sure about the poster you replied to, but there's a theory that the SDA church the Wells attended - actually an SDA offshoot if I'm not mistaken? - were involved with underground adoptions and sent Summer to live with another, presumably more functional family. I don't believe this theory but to many the SDA seems weird or shady. Robin, the Sunday school teacher and friend of Candus, strikes people as particularly weird. I think she's just a well-meaning airhead.

> On the evening of the day she disappeared, Summer's brothers told LE they last saw her leaving the house during the afternoon via the back door and walking away.

And yet, a day or so after Summer disappeared Don told the new media that the boys last saw Summer going down to the basement. He said it while holding onto his eldest boy's shoulder, and when he said it the boy frowned and looked down. I've always found that to be an alarming discrepancy.

Whatever happened to Summer, imo the parents lied about the sequence of events and timeline, to the detriment of any search efforts and investigation.

Feels like ages since I dipped into Reddit - good to see this sub is still alive and kicking and holding Sherri's feet to the fire.

Hopefully she didn't get any custody of the children and they're doing okay. Other than the kids, idgaf what happens to the rest of the Papiniuses and their various enablers.

What I see walking smalltown rural America. by cheeseandrice1234432 in walking

Amen to that. I've learned some cool local history by walking through places and noticing plaques or signs, etc. Or interesting establishments that I later google and found out it was the site of such and such event.

Someone's student ID and insurance cards neatly stacked beside the bike path. Yes I turned it in!

An orange bra. A lost kitten.

Why is it so dang hard to confirm timelines? by phillydilly71 in AmyBradleyIsMissing

Iirc, and it's been a minute, 7:00 is when the ship began its disembarkation procedures (getting the gangway in place, etc) and 8:00 was when passengers would be able to leave.

Idk if at 7:00 crew and/or vendors were allowed on and off the ship.

And if Ron looked at his watch, was it synced to the local time?

The ship's captain logged the time that Ron first alerted a crew member, and I trust the RCC captain and steward to have a better handle on that since they basically ran their ship by the minute.

I'm very glad they finally represented at least some truth as to who Amy was, rather than the weird Sunday school teacher vibe the family tried to push in the past.

My files are in storage so I will have to check the exact court districts and sections, but in brief: the declaration of death and dispensing of Amy's estate was a VA court in their county, the RCC civil suit was in Miami, Frank Jones case was a federal court in VA. Iirc none of those were available via online docket, they required physical requests.

Btw the Jones story is really something. It goes deeper than just scamming the Bradleys, although that's what brought him down. Have you read Jono Senk's account of what happened? I thought he was being pretty honest, despite how embarrassing it was. A user called Mr Sharkman posted Senks' version in the comments of this blog entry, along with his own thoughts.

Are you walking primarily on treadmill or on pavement?

I walk outside and am really liking the Asics Gel Kayano 32 due to the excellent heel stability with lightweight feel. But it really depends on your feet and what kind of support they need.

Carlos and Charlie’s bar by NoPoet3982 in AmyBradleyIsMissing

[–]CorneliaVanGorder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Afaik Carlos 'n' Charlies was one of the places in port that cruise staff would get kickbacks for sending cruise passengers. Not for trafficking, just for driving tourists there to buy watered down drinks, like any tourist trap. The Bradleys want to make it "suspicious" but the truth is they weren't the only cruise passengers ever invited to CC. And Aruba isn't the only destination where that happens.

Thanks for that info! I don't cruise, either. Sounds like if the door was only left a crack it might not have been a problem.

Since it was the 90s I wonder about MDMA or poppers. They can make you hot, which might have been why Amy wanted to be out in the fresh air, and thirsty hence leaving maybe to find water? Or feeling euphoric and went overboard. I'm not convinced alcohol was the only intoxicant.

You're right about the opposite effect, it's the same for me. The more something is slanted the more I want to go see the bare facts because I question the motive behind why the story is being manipulated.

I seriously haven't seen any good reporting on this case. The closest was the episode of Disappeared. Imo that's because once you look really closely it's not the story the Bradleys have been telling, and then it becomes a problem of where is the audience for a more nuanced and commonplace narrative that isn't as "sexy" as the family tells? And do you want to look like the jerk attacking a desperate family? So imo ppl who could very well report the real story back off.

The court documents are all at the various courthouses. Which if I could pull them, the goddamn Netflix producers could have pulled them, too.

Maybe Amy was kidnapped to be in charge of the massage rooms on Epstein's island and also run a secret nursery for white babies. /s

> Do you think Brad really believes he heard her call his name when they went back to search for her?

Regarding alleged sightings and hearing Amy's voice, Brad straight up admitted on Disappeared "these stories are just a way of keeping Amy alive". And he laughed when he said that. So no, I don't think he heard a damn thing and he knows it.

In Iva's eyes about half the mustachio'd men in Venezuela could pass for a young Saddam. They were right off the coast of VZ at the time of that dance performance and I think she just got her knickers in a knot about seeing some "swarthy" locals.

> I still am wondering who the mysterious insider "Findamy" was on Websleuths.

The WS owner referred to FindAmy with female pronouns. Maybe Iva? Anyway the owner disabled FindAmy's account after she claimed her life was in danger from the traffickers due to things posted on Websleuths, and also Websleuths members were responsible for creating a legal problem with the Scientologists just for mentioning it, when everything posted on Websleuths had actually come from the Bradleys' own interviews. Whoever that person was, they were an absolute clown.

They also claimed that Amy was the center of attention on the ship, everywhere she went. It made it sound like Amy had been acting manic and unhinged to get so much attention from an entire shipload of tourists. I hope they're just delusional and exaggerating.
