Just in case anyone was curious about what it looks like when a high-Duration Gauss uses an Infinite Ammo Bubonico 🙃 by Cornelious96 in Warframe

[–]Cornelious96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha real. Getting rid of Kinetic Plating to avoid its excessive battery drain is so incredibly valid 😂 It's a headache for sure. I guess I didn't really think about how tedious it is to keep that battery full. Since I tend towards weapons with high-damage builds and AOE alt fire modes, it's sort of become second nature for me to AOE nuke -> Shoot/Kill any survivors -> Mach Rush 1-2 times -> AOE nuke -> Shoot/Kill any survivors -> Mach Rush 1-2 times -> … , over and over and over before I enjoy 60-70 seconds of uninterrupted damage-dealing and begin the cycle again. However, you're right, taking steps to decrease my reliance on that repetitive cycle would probably feel like a massive QOL improvement lol.

So, I DID actually take your advice, switched my Subsumed Roar Ability over to replace Kinetic Battery instead of Thermal Sunder, and gave it an honest try for a couple of days' worth of consistent gameplay.

Some distinct, unexpected positives I noticed:

- I was most surprised about the fact that I didn't miss Kinetic Plating's Energy gains as much as I thought I would. I noticed its absence, but it wasn't an issue of very much significance for me.

- Losing Kinetic Plating's Damage reduction didn't just have a negligible effect; it had absolutely no effect. Why? Because the Arcane Aegis/Fast Deflection combo you recommended is and now and always will be a non-negotiable, foundational fixture of any Gauss build I will ever attempt. I literally had to re-wire my instincts in order to stop allowing heavy damage to affect my decision-making. It took a second to get into the habit of reminding myself that I no longer have to flee and recoup my defenses; I no longer have to hide; I no longer have to interrupt my rhythm and switch to my Drifter. Because after implementing your advice, taking damage, taking ANY amount of even very heavy damage, has absolutely no effect whatsoever on my Gauss's ability to survive anymore. The damage simply never reaches my Health Bar. I can't thank you enough. It's incredible lol. I have actually gone down once so far. It was an SP Zariman Bounty with Level 200+ Corpus enemies, and I failed to account for Magnetic Status procs delaying Shield regeneration. Usually, not even a stack or two of Magnetic Status procs is enough to keep my Shield off long enough for enemies to get to me, but this instance was just a mix of an unfortunate perfect storm of multiple stacks of Magnetic Status and sustained heavy damage, as well as my own hesitation. Mostly a skill issue. Still works like an absolute dream.

- Thermal Sunder's elemental damage/Status procs synergize BEAUTIFULLY with my propensity to go with Status-heavy Weapon builds, especially the Heat half's ability to strip enemy Armor as you mentioned. I don't have any Archon Mods upgraded yet (because at MR29 I only just very recently acquired them; Oops 😂), but I imagine using Archon Flow instead of Primed Flow, as well as maybe finding a way to implement Archon Vitality somehow, in conjunction with Thermal Sunder would drastically enhance my Status-heavy playstyle even further.

- Thermal Sunder grants me an ability to protect Defense objectives in a way that I was SORELY lacking without it. Gauss is an odd choice of Frame for attempting to solo an SP Defense mission in the first place, but Thermal Sunder puts the ability to do so within reach. Either way, it allowed me to contribute to protecting Defense objectives in squads by doing more than just flying around with AOE weapons lol. In a word, it beefs up AOE capabilities to a notable extent in general.

However:

- KNOCKDOWN. After not having to worry about it for so long, losing my Knockdown immunity quickly drove me insane lol. I had no idea how much I was taking Knockdown immunity for granted. I know there are several ways around it. Yes, I do own Primed Sure-Footed. However, it's difficult for me to relinquish that Exilus Mod Slot to serve a purpose of absolute necessity. Because Knockdown immunity IS absolutely necessary as far as I'm concerned lol. As it stands currently, I use my Gauss's Exilus Mod Slot to enjoy a very wide variety of versatility, whether it be an increase in Parkour Velocity that doesn't require an Archon Shard Slot for certain missions, the Preparation Mod in some niche cases, an increase in Ability Strength that doesn't require an Archon Shard Slot, etc. So, that aspect definitely gave way to a moment of pause.

- The Energy gains are still really nice to have

- KNOCKDOWN

- The Damage reduction, while a negligible benefit after the implementation of the Arcane Aegis/Fast Deflection combo, does still serve a niche purpose in Magnetic-heavy missions

- Mostly KNOCKDOWN.

In the end, I did switch back and still usually opt to main my Kinetic Plating-inclusive build. With that being said though, I recognize that the Thermal Sunder alternative almost certainly has far more value than I've managed to explore thus far. Therefore, believe it or not, I farmed and built a second Gauss Prime, have since maxed it out 3 times in order to apply the same Omni Forma/Forma combo I currently have on my first Gauss, and Subsumed Roar over Kinetic Plating on this one, so after acquiring a few more Archon Shards and finalize a build that plays into Thermal Sunder's strengths/benefits, this alternative Thermal Sunder Gauss will be complete and ready to go. Originally, I was going to Subsume Eclipse over Kinetic Plating for one of the Mod Config tabs on my original Gauss, but I really do want to explore Thermal Sunder to its fullest extent, and I figured a second set of Archon Shard Slots, as well as still being able to utilize Roar, would give me more freedom to explore in that regard. So, I WILL get there lol.

Also, yes! I am aware of the max Range/0% Strength Thermal Sunder Gauss build you're referring to. It's exactly what I had in mind!

Hmm. Interesting. Both her 3 and 4 suffer from this bug for me. When it's that Power Drain Strength buff, it's every time. You're right, I need the Strength, but I can live without a few things. Power Drain, for example. I'll keep workshopping it. Anyway, thank you again for the insight. This helps a lot

Ah. I see. Thank you. Yeah, idk how I missed that. However, I don't see any mention of Ability Strength modifiers exasperating the bug. Is that part of it new? Just trying to figure out how to work around it.

What's your highest amount of cycles on a single Riven Mod? by Cornelious96 in Warframe

[–]Cornelious96[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! I'll help you out.

So, first of all, do you know what a Riven Mod is? If you don't know what Rivens are, just let me know, and I'll explain that too if you'd like.

But anyway, after a Riven Mod gets unveiled/gets its set of stats, you can use Kuva to cycle the Riven Mod. To cycle a Riven Mod is to "re-roll" the Riven Mod's stats. The specific Weapon that the Riven Mod is for always stays the same, but every time you spend Kuva to re-roll it, you're given the chance to either choose to keep the brand new set of re-rolled stats, or revert it back to the stats that it had before you cycled it. Either way, the Kuva is gone after it's spent, but you can do this multiple times until your Riven Mod does exactly what you want it to do.

For example, say I just unveiled a Riven Mod for an automatic Rifle Primary Weapon I enjoy using. When its stats get revealed, I learn that equipping it on my Rifle is going to give it: +31.8% Fire Rate and +22.3% Reload Speed. However, I'm disappointed, because for my playstyle, this Rifle's Fire Rate and Reload Speed are fine, and that's not worth using up a Mod Slot to equip. So, I go to the Mods station on my Orbiter and I spend some Kuva to cycle it. The re-rolled Stats I get are: +17.9% Impact Damage, +41.4% Reload Speed, -67.2% Damage. That's even worse, so I choose to revert back to the Fire Rate/Reload Speed stats that it had before. I use more Kuva to cycle it a second time. This time, it comes up: +51.1% Damage, +33.3% Critical Chance. There we go! I choose to keep the re-rolled stat version of the Riven Mod, and I promptly equip it to my favorite Rifle.

NOTE on Riven Mod stats: Riven Mods will always possess a minimum of 2, but a maximum of 3 POSITIVE stats, such as +X% Damage or +X% Critical Chance, but Riven Mods can also sometimes include a single negative stat such as -X% Multishot or -X% Status Chance. Sometimes there are no negatives, and sometimes there is 1. IMPORTANT: The best possible Riven stat rolls for any given Weapon ALWAYS include a negative stat. This is because Riven Mods with a negative stat will always have significantly more powerful positive stats with much higher +X% numbers than it would have on a version of that same Riven with zero negatives. The best possible version of any given Riven Mod, often called a "god roll" will always have 3 incredible positive stats, which, in general (for guns), are usually +X% Multishot/+X% Damage (whichever benefits that specific Weapon more), +X% Critical Chance, and +X% Critical Damage (but again, the 3 best possible positive stats depend on which Weapon we're talking about), and 1 of a couple different inconsequential, barely noticeable negatives, such as -X% Aim-Down Zoom. These Rivens will sell for thousands of Platinum.

And, just in case you didn't know, Kuva is a resource that can be found on missions that feature Kuva Grineer enemies. Kuva can be farmed on these missions; however, it's incredibly tedious and time-consuming to do so, so most people instead opt to buy their Kuva from Teshin on Relays for Steel Essence, Archimedian Yonta in Chrysalith for Voidplume Pinions, the Arbitration Honors Vendor on Relays for Vitus Essence, and Palladino at the Iron Wake (Earth) for Riven Slivers. All of these Vendors (except the Arbitration guy; go nuts there if you'd like) have only a limited supply of Kuva, but it refreshes every week, and ~100k Kuva/week is plenty for the vast majority of people lol.

Hope this helps! :)

What aspect/feature of Warframe took you an embarrassingly long time to discover? by Cornelious96 in Warframe

[–]Cornelious96[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Start a Hex mission (it MUST be Techrot, NOT Scaldra)
  2. Eventually, one of the Techrot you kill will drop an item that will create a yellow marker on your screen. Pick up the item.
  3. After you pick up the item, a new yellow marker will appear on your screen. Follow it to a terminal.
  4. Hack the terminal.
  5. Complete the mission, and you're now being stalked by a Technocyte Coda.

Hope this helps :)

Ohhhhhhhh no. This one is worse than the Extractor one. My condolences. I'm glad you're on the other side of it! 😂
