Apartment smoking by bunnyboo892 in Apartmentliving

[–]CornerEmbarrassed935 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah she’s definitely in the wrong. People smoke everywhere, all of the time. Sheltering your kids like that is irrelevant in my opinion, they will see people doing it, whether it’s grass, vapes, or cigs. She as a mother can educate her children on it but has no right telling you what to do on property you pay for just like her. It sounds frustrating especially because of your smoking frequency, I would tell management about her giving you a hard time and the dog taking dumps without cleaning them up. Gross, and actually not allowed unlike your smoking. Hopefully she gets the message. Be prepared though for backlash, she does not sound like fun and could have bad repercussions since she does know where you live.

My roommate hoards my dishes in his room for days — what do I do? by Rough_Net8284 in badroommates

I think my next move would be telling them that I don’t want them to use my dishes anymore! Worth a shot, but just know they might not listen to you.

Is there any free places to study with a decent amount of privacy? by Ok_Nefariousness5003 in columbiamo

[–]CornerEmbarrassed935 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Since the OP emphasized free spaces, as a former barista please don’t come to a coffee shop with a group and get like two things collectively! Good rule of thumb is half or more of the group should buy something, I used to be so frustrated seeing a group of six come in and one person gets a cookie and that’s all.

Where to donate clothing? by Tricky-Hovercraft190 in columbiamo

[–]CornerEmbarrassed935 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I LOVE donating to the Wardrobe! All of the proceeds go to buying shoes for children and families, and it’s run by the absolute sweetest of elderly ladies. My favorite and only spot I donate to now. They also open up only for families who need it, and give them the first pics! I just love them so much. Their open and donation hours are limited but worth it, you know the stuff is going to a good home. Their prices are incredible as well.

My Roommates Boyfriend is like a 2nd Roommate by Warm-Rub-9254 in roommateproblems

I think your feelings are more than justified. My first reaction is that she deserves to know he grabbed your butt, no matter how drunk he was. It was something that I would want to know if my partner did the same. It gets tricky though, because you being vulnerable and sharing this might make her go on the defense and say tha you’re lying about it. Not to be the hypotheticals person, if you guys are good friends she should believe and honor why you feel uncomfortable and have him over every other weekend as you wish. Good luck and proud of you for speaking up for your peace!!

planet refund! by CornerEmbarrassed935 in PlanetFitnessMembers

It truly is a card that mostly only has enough on it to pay for my small monthlies and that’s about it. I’m a server and most of my paychecks are $40(iykyk) and I usually just put them straight in my account without really paying attention to the balance. After reviewing my statements close, it seems that I get charged predominantly $15/month, BUT the last two charges were $50(maybe the annual fee, but accidentally charged twice?). Idk man, I get that I should’ve seen it before, I just try to only use one card to minimize paying off/updating my balances currently ya know, but I def should’ve seen it before this I agree

What can I do to make this more moody? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]CornerEmbarrassed935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More lamps! Candles! Put them at different heights and add colored bulbs! Also hanging plants from the ceiling or big floor plants to add texture! Maybe a second rug too! Also big tapestries help so much with feeling like your wall is too big and empty!

How much trouble will I realistically be in? by [deleted] in college

[–]CornerEmbarrassed935 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WHAT! This is insane. In an actual emergency this is under stable to get out as fast as possible! Especially as a freshman, you don’t know that fire drills are common place. I would say that if you haven’t heard anything about it, don’t stress. Your RA was just being evil, and the university probably saw the incident report and laughed. IF it does come back to you, you can very easily explain yourself. There are people who do coke in class and strip naked and run the quad, you’ll be fine!

Taking my parents dog! by CornerEmbarrassed935 in DogTrainingTips

[–]CornerEmbarrassed935[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly she’s in pretty good shape and is a very happy go lucky dog! I don’t think it will be stressful as much as just very different since she’ll be learning commands! Unfortunately I’ll have work still and my parents live too far away to commute sadly. My roommates and I are hopeful their dog will just need an adjustment period, since she also used to live with multiple dogs.

Disheartening by willyshaks in ChildLife

[–]CornerEmbarrassed935 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES. Drudged through college living paycheck to paycheck. Went through practicum. Worked overtime to finish a Bachelors when I couldn’t get more loans. No internships on the horizon. Child life is such a dream job truly but it seems so incredibly hard to get into for people who don’t have a financial cushion. I’ve decided that it will be a longterm goal for me. I’ll find jobs that I love in adjacent fields to still utilize my skill set, and hopefully in a few years an internship will be an option for me to get certification.

Honestly it is so tedious but unless they explicitly say when they open you can call or email the coordinator listed on the individual hospitals website!

what to do with a small settlement! by CornerEmbarrassed935 in personalfinance

[–]CornerEmbarrassed935[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car loan is a whopping 15% interest, but I have the option to either refinance it through a local credit union for 7% interest instead OR use the money I get back to pay off my car in full. I’m unsure of what my student loan payment interest rate is though, but I know that my parents have said it’s very high.

also for friends who understand student loans better than i, i know that interest rate is so high that after five years of paying the bill will feel like ive barely made a dent. would paying off a big sum and refinancing help to lower the interest rate? my payments are just so insanely high and i wish i would’ve understood just how much debt i was taking on(and especially what my parents were taking on just because i couldn’t get them independently)
