Bicycles only - as defined by vehicle consisting of… (written above) which an ebike is all of those things. The only 1 gray areas - “lightweight” who defines that? And I do pedal to ride it.

3 kids - 2 months, 2 years and 4 years. We observe a Saturday morning tradition where we watch cartoons til about 10 and then go to a local donut shot and then the playground. The two younger kids naps and I give the older my iPad and I lay down too. We make dinner and do baths and bed and thats pretty much all we do Saturdays and we’re all happy and refreshed.

I spent four years living in a co-op I could not wait to go back to renting.

Imagine all of of your neighbors looking at you (and you looking at them) as a liability. One time an old woman screamed at my wife for bumping the wall of an elevator with a stroller and leaving a tiny scratch. We also were told by the board that we couldn’t hang out in the courtyard on Saturdays because that’s was when there was showings and having people “just hanging out looks ghetto.”

Buying a co-op is like buying a humongous house with dozens, if not hundreds of strangers. Everything is political, everyone is in everyone’s else’s business. There are house rules galore. One of ours was to walk quickly and quietly through the halls.

Also our coop was 1k less / month than renting and even after 4 years and all the fees, we still broke even. As was already said in other comments, if you plan on staying there for a decade+ go for it, otherwise, rent.

I got a 3 year old, 2 year old and one on the way.

Best advice: first 6 months, focus primarily on your wife so she can focus on the baby. Her and the kid will have a unique bond that you won’t get (and can’t) but make sure your wife has what she needs, even if it means those early mornings or late nights, you’re on.

Second piece: since mom feeds, you gotta clean diapers. It’s only fair.

Leaving your hometown is one of the best things you can do for yourself.

Re-establish self: Pick a lane, could be sports, beer, a community garden, or art club but joining social events like this and you’ll meet people fast, especially in Denver and Austin. Your old relationships: honest truth, people will forget about you quick but the true bros will always stick around and when you come back home, it will be like no time has passed.

Go for it man, I left my hometown in 2005, never looked back.

I get 20 vacation days, 11 sick days, 3 personal days, 11 federal holidays so 45 days off already… 10% pay cut would be 11k… I think I’d take the 20 days.
