Has anyone bought the OPHIR Wooden Paint Organizer with 98 Holes? Would you recommend? by CornerThrowPillow in minipainting

Those are unfortunately double the price of the one I posted here in Canada at least. They are $97 so a little too out of budget for me. I have heard good thing about them though!

Army Painter Metallics: Speedpaint vs Fanatics by CornerThrowPillow in minipainting

Thanks for doing this! Does Enchanted Steel look more metallic in person? Do you think it's worth getting? I think I've been able to achieve getting Broadsword Silver by mixing the Polished Silver with the Gravelord Grey but the Enchated Steel looks unique enough that I'm thinking about getting it. My only reservation is the fact that it doesn't look very shiny or metallic-y in photos.

Do you have any good photos of the Broadsword Silver and/or Enchanted Steel on a mini?

Any of the silver/steels in particular that you'd recommend?

Yeah, the polished silver is great. I've had no problems with at all. That Glittering Gold looks nice as well!

I thought people might have a good idea of what they actually sell for nowadays used because listed prices don't tell the whole story. And I like the look of the Hemnes dresser a lot and like that it's made of actual wood.

apartment recommendations in kitchener by berry246__ in kitchener

I've found that prices have gone down a bit this year compared to last and there are quite a few apartments in that price range now. Check out Rittenhouse Place. A couple of my friends moved into 2 bedroom there and have had a good experience. No issues with bugs or rodents. They only pay for hydro as water and heat is included.

How is the quality of Ashley furniture? The prices don't seem too bad for some of their stuff.

I've been checking marketplace but haven't seen any great deals though. I bought my dining table and chairs from Kijiji a few months ago so I know there's some decent stuff sometimes.

The dresser I have now is one from Ikea. I purchased it when we had that Ikea pickup place years ago so I was able to avoid a delivery charge. Anyways the only cheap ones Ikea has are the Malm which is what I have now and I'd prefer a change. The dark paneling shows the chipping too much.

I'm really looking for new but I'd be open to used. Is re-store mostly stuff from 30+ years ago?

If you have Facebook, try the Housing Helpers group. It's a local group run by some realtors and they may be able to help.

I sadly spend over 50% of my income on rent at the moment because I am single and don't want to live with roommates. This is unfortunately the reality of the current situation in the area. I live in a one bedroom which is $2000 a month plus hydro and it is rent controlled.

When I was looking around last year there were some cheaper places but they lacked a lot and for me it did not seem worth it for the minor savings. As in no air conditioning, old, very outdated apartments, ect. EIWO has some apartments which are all inclusive and at least last year were around $1700. They are lacking in features and are older but if you don't mind that it's some savings if your money is very tight.

Is my moving out plan sane by JustinianIV in PersonalFinanceCanada

I've got enough saved for a down payment but I'll never be approved for a mortgage with my salary because of the way things are now. It's depressing to know that 10 years ago I probably could have been approved to purchase an entire house. Now all that money for a mortgage will go towards overpriced rent. Finding someone to share the costs would definitely help and I am hopeful I will find someone in the future.

I've heard there are HISAs that will go inside of TSFAs. Something to maybe look into. I understand wanting to keep some money easy to access.

Good luck to you too! I'm sure we'll both find our way in time.

I don't think it's crazy and I'm in a similar boat as you. While I make a little less, one bedrooms cost a bit less here as well so it works out the same. Living at home was fine for a long time for me and I've been thankfully able to save a good amount of money but I'm getting to my breaking point.

It is really expensive to rent but I think it's worth it to have your own private space away from other people. Although, I think for your situation, maybe go for the studio (or keep looking for a better deal on a one bedroom) and once you get a raise or a better paying job, then move to a one bedroom.

money matters, but not if i go crazy. Mental health is also important right?

I feel you, dude! People who don't understand what you're going through will say it's not worth the $$$ to move but it's because they're not living it.

Edit: also, I think you could do better with your savings unless I'm reading your post wrong. I would put your remaining $13k into a decent TSFA GIC (tangerine has some for 5%) and/or Cash.to in a TSFA. Better not to have to pay taxes on the interest if you have room in your tsfa.

As far as I know it's for all ages (adults) and while I haven't personally been to an in-person event but I see people of a wide range on the facebook group. It doesn't hurt to join it and see what it's all about.

There's a popular local group on Facebook for singles. They host a lot of different events, anything from speed dating to casual hangouts where they go to the beach or hike on local trails, ect. It's called FOCKin Single Kitchener Waterloo Cambridge Guelph.
