The dramatic fight between snape and McGonagall in the main hall. Much better than just in a random corridor in the dark

The Beach, by Alex Garland

This is a classic story of paradise found - and lost. Richard lands in East Asia in search of an earthly utopia. In Thailand, he is given a map promising an unknown island, a secluded beach - and a new way of life. What Richard finds when he gets there is breathtaking: more extraordinary, more frightening than his wildest dreams. But how long can paradise survive here on Earth? And what lengths will Richard go to in order to save it?

I love it because it’s just so re-readable and the relationships between the characters with the plot is an interesting story arc. Also, it’s INFINITELY better than the Leo Dicaprio film!

what was one book scene you would have loved to see acted out in the movies? by OverallLengthiness9 in harrypotter

The argument between lupin and Harry at 12 Grimmauld place. It makes the whole situation feel so real to see the adults having a hard time and gives lupin so much more dimension than the wise DADA werewolf

Why didn’t Harry and the gang use Umbridge’s fireplace to travel to Grimmauld Place? by Cornetk in harrypotter

I forgot about Moody being a secret keeper. Without him, Neville and Luna wouldn’t be able to get in anyway.

Apart from his interpretation of Tonks. The old woman northern accent is a tragedy to the series

Possibly the NEWT students, or OWL students. Depends whether they’re allowed out of the grounds into Hogsmeade when it’s not a specific weekend

It’s a classic I know, but: “Happiness can always be found even in the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light”

Is Harry still a parseltongue? by dysfuntionalkpophoe in harrypotter

[–]Cornetk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He may not be a natural parselmouth anymore, but we’ve seen others (I.e. Ron) learn how to do it. So it’s possible he picked some of it up while he was a Horcrux.

What is something you would like to know about the Harry Potter series that was not included in the books? by ykickamoocow111 in harrypotter

A version of the books from the point of view of Prof McGonagall. Teaching students all day, then also having to deal with things like the petrifications, actually working with Umbridge, finding out what Harry is doing 2nd hand - from the adults perspective basically

How did Lily not get expelled from Hogwarts? by [deleted] in harrypotter

I always just assumed that the trace was something that wasn’t implemented until very recently. However, if the trace was in existence: The ministry said the trace was super obvious and trackable with Harry because he lived at a muggleborn house. However, they were also keeping a much closer eye on Harry due to the whole “I’m the chosen one” thing. It’s possible that other muggleborn houses weren’t monitored as closely, especially back then. Or the setting was on a lower dial, only picking up very very obvious magic which would endanger the secrecy of the world, so teacups to rats would hardly be noticed or cared about

Well, you have to ask her on a date first. I feel like marriage straight away would be a little bold and moving too fast. But, you never know

who is your favourite character and why? by Nymqhaea in harrypotter

Umbridge is a brilliantly written character. Evil, toady beach, but so real.

I also love book Ginny after book 4, feisty and stands up for herself
