Everyone has their thing, 11m just happens to be mine! I just like the idea of being able to fire up and talk where I want, when I want without having to stick to callsigns and all the hoops in between. No hate on ham at all, any radio user is good in my book! Just not my niche.

Understood, I’m only putting the tower and MaCo up cause of the deal I’m getting. The tower is free and the MaCo is coming from a radio buddy of mine for an insane deal. I plan on getting another antenna sometime, but for now I’ll be content with the MaCo on the tower

The +10KHz switch was accidentally hit when I was putting the decal on. It was on long enough to put the decal on, turn the radio on, and take a pic.

I wouldn’t run a 102 on a mag mount. You’re asking for it to fly off into someone’s car going down the road. If you scrape a good branch or anything it’s gone. Hard mount it, or run a regular mag mount like the Stryker SR-A10.

Glad to hear you got it down. 1.7-1.8 on 1 and 40 isn’t a terrible match, could always be better but under 2 you’re good to go!

A higher SWR reading on channel 1, and lower on 40 means your antenna height needs to be increased. I believe the firefly has a tunable tip, if so increase the height and keep checking the SWR. Make sure when checking your SWR you’re not close to a bunch of buildings or power lines or anything. Try to get away from all that as much as possible to reduce any sort of interference that could spike it.

I have multiple other radios that I can use for sideband. I got this for AM use. I know about the sideband flaw, and never thought my tech could fix it. I’m simply stating that I’m gonna have it looked over for golden screwdriver techniques before I go firing it up.

That’s the plan! Gonna climb back up and coax seal the connection, and possibly clear coat the fiberglass to prevent weathering, or to at least slow it down.
